    San Diego born and raised. Chula Vista was my hometown after that from 1965-2004. Now in WA state.
    I visit every once in a while and like the town, but the sheer house cost, cost of living, and the population has exploded, especially after the city decided to expand east and build Eastlake and surrounding areas.
    Love to visit, but not for me any more. Guess I was lucky to live there in the golden era of my youth! 😊

    Something nice! Thanks for making this video. It looks like this was filmed a few months ago. You didn't mention the new Gaylord Pacific hotel and convention center along the bay that started construction a few weeks ago. That's part of a much bigger redevelopment area called Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan that includes a fake beach along the bay. I would've mentioned the CBX airport bridge along the border. That's a huge pro to get to beach resorts! Yes, unfortunately there's congestion on the freeways and streets during rush hour. But we do have the trolley and rapid buses to get people to downtown San Diego. You mentioned Imperial Beach but Silver Strand State Beach is nice too. Coronado isn't too far if you live on the west side. Third Avenue is doing good business with all the breweries and restaurants. It was shown but not mentioned. Again, good video for people from out of town. They should stay at the new Sun Outdoors resort on E Street if they ever want to visit. That place is nice.

    I love Chula Vista it was my home away from the base when I was in the Navy. Is the Chinese restaurant still across from the mall. Yummy buffet.

    I had been in Chula Vista for 20 years, it's a really nice area. Especially Eastlake area code 91914 and 91915 are great.

    1200 sq ft homes for $700,000 equals affordable? I wish I made as much money as you, because you obviously make a lot 🤔

    Dig the energies been hoping to call San Diego home a long time but Chula Vista seems like a great place to start. As long as it’s walkable and not too far from some ocean access. I don’t see why it’s a great option in San Diego. Would you say Chula Vista is just as walkable as pacific beach?

    • @mikedat276
      @mikedat276 2 года назад +3

      Short answer...no. West Chula Vista gets you closer access but the neighborhood is quite old. However, they are developing it and looks to have a great future ahead of it. East Chula Vista is newer but can be a 10 to 12 minute drive to the bay. 15 to 18 minute drive to Coronado Beach. It's not like Pacific Beach...way different vibe. Walkable? Depends, west Chula Vista's 3rd Avenue shops are improving. Otherwise, get a car or golf cart.

      Look into the Millenia neighborhood of East Chula Vista. Definitely walkable. Everything you would want is within a 5 min walk unless you want to hit up the tourist areas.

    like the year you were born was a good time to live there and people use to call it chula juana and it was not the nicest place to like but when easlake came out it was far enough away from the city you didn't have to be scared of getting jumped like palomar and broadway the saying was country living city close and i spent 35 years there, you could buy a new house in terra nova in 1985 for $185,000 we sold it in 06 for $800,000 but there was a 2nd chance in 2012 to buy and affordable house but from 16 on forget san diego we movbed to az in 2018 and bought a new house for 240k and now that house we sold in terra nova is 1.5 million which it is not worth it at all
