I don't get the advantage of feeding the strap through the ratchet and them back out the same way again. I'm a truck driver and I've been using ratchet straps for decades. I've always just fed the strap through the ratchet the one way and then I tighten it. I find it way easier to release it as well, because when I release the ratchet I can then just tug the strap and it rolls the slot to a position where the strap just slides out easily and doesn't have to do a 180 around the slotted bar. As the straps get older and a little stiffer from use I think it's much easier my way.
