You can drag the piano roll to fit the whole screen. And use shift+tab to open it or close it. I use piano roll like this and it gives me full screen view 😁
Idc for the window I actually think this is perfect now, they should change the way you actually edit midi because it's absolutely horrible. Compared to FL studio it feels like a never ending chore
Cubase is the most advanced daw! And only it has the most advanced midi features and capabilities!! If you don't know lemme say something, Cubase is one of the world's oldest daws and it's the world's 1st midi editing software... It has evolved over the years and became so advanced that no daw can even come close to it!
I agree. I use both Ableton and Cubase extensively (horses for courses), and nothing, but nothing comes close to Cubase MIDI editing and piano roll. Everything getting WOWed about in this vid and more has been in Cubase for years. There is no better DAW for composers than Cubase. Wish it had something like Session view though, it's very useful in some scenarios.
Oh boy. I used cubase in school, personally used only FL studio but some time ago I deiced I'm only going to use Ableton to see what's up, FL studio's piano roll can't be beaten which is probably why electronic artists love it so much since they have the most midi to work with. :P
Have so much to say but just wow sums it up! Can’t wait to get busy with this! Don’t know about other people but I’m definitely upgrading! I mean this is JUST THE PIANO ROLL and there’s even more to it you say? 🤯
@4:22 wait am I tripping or is that arpeggiating feature new? Because I've been looking for this on ableton to copy the arp feature from FL studio but on live 11 the arp feature is not the same lol
I just got Ableton 12 standard yesterday, I may be late to the party, but at least now I have my party hat on. Your videos are on point, keep up the good work!! Oh yeah, you just earned a sub😁
Glad you are getting into it and finally got the beta. I've been going back and forth between the Live 12 beta and Bitwig (I know). The modulation in Bitwig is on another level and being able to have two instruments on one track is really new for me. The Live 12 piano roll has soo much to it now, that you can get lost. Make sure you post in the Ableton Live 12 beta forums on what you would like to see. A lot of us have been pushing for more Collections (why 7? right), of course.
@@9874-l2j Yes, I've done this. Bitwig just does it differently and you in no way, can build, what you can build in Bitwig, when it comes to modulation. I use both and I can also pull in a Live project, into Bitwig and keep on keepin on.
I have been working on ableton for a month I like the piano roll but they should add a lock 🔒 to the keys when I put the first note and if it moved a little to the left it doesn’t sound coming from fl studio it’s uncomfortable trying to get use to this piano roll but is a struggle. It seem like is always on Slip mode
ctrl(cmd)+4 is supposed to turn on grid snap in which i think it works pretty well, usually it is a bit weird and you need to grab the very edge of a note for it to somewhat magnet to the grid.
People who don't know anything about DAWs would say FL Studio and Ableton Live as the best DAW! 😂... Go and check out Cubase brother you would be blown away completely! I'm not bashing other DAWs but Cubase is the most advanced, no other daw can even come a bit closer to it!
I understand, that it is not always easy to do this. But I highly recommend doing whatever you can to make it so your RUclips video automatically sinks into 1080 or 4K. The only reason why is because when you're looking at the daw or VST it looks really fuzzy.
the only thing i never understood about ableton is why the heck they havent added a note slicing tool would make scale runs and chords a less pain in the ass to line up. it is such a simple thing they overlook it everytime im not buying any ableton update till it is added.
This guy has some good ideas. But I don't understand why he always needs to rush along. You are basically excluding absolute new users. It's unfortunate that the DISLIKE number is not showing.
@@Recordpressplayerfirst of all, in FL you don't need to double click to enter a note. FL has several types of draw modes and tools. Like brush, pen etc. Ableton is slow and limited (I bought Ableton 12 now because I have some collabs with other producers, and sure, the piano roll is improved from 11, but still nothing compared to FL).

Piano roll is definitely coming a long way. I think it needs its own window like FL, Logic, etc. that alone would elevate the workflow for me.

The horrible piano roll in ableton is the reason I don’t switch to it from FL

you keep saying semitones, but it's going up by scale degrees. The button changes when you lock to the scale.

Bro I signed up for that beta right away too! Ridiculous! You should post this video in the forums if you dont mind
10:16 Panning? On Midi notes? How would that work. You can pan audio but how would you pan Midi information?
Just like velocity and every other automation source
The Panning is under envelopes / mixer / track panning and then use it as you would the pitch bends / glides
The ruler on piano roll is always set to 4/4, is there a way to change it to different time signature please?
Hey bro, we’re not all bros, you know, like, this is so cool, some of us are not bros.

Nobody wants Cubase in 2024 👎🏽

They added all of that in Live 12. Checkout my playlist to see all the new Ableton features if you want
Are any of these features available on the Push?
so they basically gave you guys the FL studio piano roll with a few features left out
No it's nothing like FL studio
sd= scale degrees not semitones 🙂 good energy!
good catch
@8:16 no need for that. Just click the respective panel and the controls will change to velocity or chance
That's nice. UI is still trash in my opinion. I hope y'all enjoy.
🤣🤣🤣
thanks for watching!

FL Studio's piano roll is still better. So is the piano roll in Cubase.
