- A family recalls the fear they felt when the studio tram they were riding in tipped over at Universal Studios Hollywood, leaving 15 people injured. Since the incident, the Murrieta family claims park officials have downplayed the severity of the crash and the victims’ injuries.
Emergency crews responded to the park on April 20 just after 9 p.m., after reports of a crash taking place during the studio backlot tour attraction. The tram was passing the Jurassic Park exhibit when, while making a left turn, the last tram car struck a metal guardrail on the right-hand side, according to California Highway Patrol.
The maneuver tilted the vehicle, causing passengers to fall out and onto the road. Emergency crews transported 15 people to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries, including 11-year-old Sophia who was celebrating her birthday at the theme park.
KTLA's Sandra Mitchell reports on April 24, 2024.

Brain is bleeding yet gets sent home? I’m no doctor but I feel like that wouldn’t be a “go home” scenario.
They’re sending people who had heart attacks and strokes home 1-3 days later. People who are brain dead they have ambulances pick em up and send them home. Doesn’t suprised me it’s Los Angeles

Sounds like the attorney is doing their part. Problem is anyone with a functional brain, like that lady with the bleeding of the brain, knows that she’d be in more than a day at the hospital. Most cases it can cause seizures or worse death. I know people who have. I’d sue if that was the case but it clearly is not. Jurassic park coined it best (irony) “blood sucking lawyers”

That tram must be on crack if it was going 20mph it tops at 8mph bro lol
Maybe it was during a descent portion of that ride
They were probably trying to get away from that part where the massive boulders are coming down the hill at you.
It was the back lot the the actual studio tour
Not even their best driver could get over 10mph going through that turn.
@FlyGuy2000 they haven't had that part in forever, the accident happened in the turn approaching Flash Flood behind Cabot Cove/Jaws lake leaving the Jurrassic Park picture cars.
Just gonna point out a small fact- I work at Universal. (Not a driver but on the Backlot a lot) the Trams max speed is like less then 10mph so... 20? Ya not even possible. Especially on the tour route. No way in hell any driver is doing that kinda speed. I dont even think its possible. That's just asking for trouble.
Do you think it has to do with the glamor trams they’ve been using? They’re a single car tram vehicle instead of multiple cars so they weigh less and can go much faster than the regular studio tour trams.
@ran97396 the Glamor Tram is just a regular tram wrapped. Still 4 cars. Still slow. Still huge. They did the wrap to honor the first edition of the tour.

Don't forget being unconscious when taken off the tram yet can't even say where on the tram they had been sitting even though plenty of witnesses and reports were being documented that night so if they had been unconscious the hospital wouldn't have sent them home that night especially if they are claiming a head injury since the hospital would have wanted to keep them for observation. They lost their case already but the lawyer is too stupid to check the facts behind the bogus claims before releasing a statement which the hospital and police reports will destroy before a judge even looks at the case. Universal would be wise to counter-sue all the people that are making the false claims like them to get reimbursed for all the medical bills for those who actually got hurt in the crash. Also if you pay attention they are suing for leg injuries from a surgery that happened prior to going to the park which means that person would have been put in the front car where they would have had the leg room and would have been furthest from collision so wouldn't have been injured.
This is what happens when you have these lawyers on TV advertising and making people think being in an accident is like winning the lottery.
The attorney mentioned that the mother slammed against "plexiglass". There is no plexiglass on the trams...
Yes there is
I’m just wondering how the trans flip in the first place? I thought everything about trams was kept in a consistent pace and on track?
@@jdos5643they don’t flip. They smacked that railing and it sent them flying to the right side of the tram.
Every car front of the tram cars have plexiglass windshields, car 1 only the driver and tour guide are by the glass. Cars 2, 3, & 4 only the front row has the glass and also has poor legs room so his client with the pre existing leg surgery pain would never been in that row or even in the back 3 cars since they would have been put in the front car.

WOW! I grew up in The Valley and have gone to Universal Studios many times and nothing like this has ever happened. I do hope everyone is ok.
Last injury accident with the tram that is reported was during Halloween back when the night event was called Fright Fest still. It was a scare actor that was to jump out of a parked tram between mannequins to scare guests on a tram driving by and the actor misstimed their jump and ended up between cars and was ran over then dragged to their death. The park paused the niggt event then and when they started doing Halloween again it was called Horror Nights and the scare actors weren't allowed to approach moving trams anymore. Closest is the Norman Bates actor walking up to the tram and he still keeps a safe distance while the tram is moving so not to be on the tram road while a tram is there. Scare actors Do approach stopped trams after the doors are opened for the Terror Tram but there is also Studio Tour Ambassadors present to make sure the driver doesn't move the tram while anyone else is close to the tram. There was even a time where the Movie Monsters would walk around and do photo ops with guests on the tram while the tram was still in the loading area.
I’ve been on that tram for so long, so many times and not once have I had trouble. This is a shock. The trams are slow tho?!
Judging by this attorney I think Universal Studios is going to save alot of money on the lawsuit......

I've ridden on these things. I have no idea, at all, how it would EVER flip over. Even at full speed these things are wildly slow and stable.
As someone who has been shot two separate times while working in LE, I got a 20k settlement each time. These people injuries are nowhere near what I had, they are not going to "get rich".
That’s very shocking. I’ve been to the Universal Studio Tours so many times ever since I was a kid. Nothing like this has ever happened before though I have heard that when Universal Studios Hollywood did their first Halloween Horror Nights in 1986 they only do the Terror Tram at that time, one of the scare actors was accidentally got hit and killed by the Tram and I remember at one time in 2016, one of the tires of the Tram blow up before entering King Kong 360 3D and the repairmen come to the rescue to replace the tire.
The accident with the scare actor was before it was Horror Nights, it was renamed after the accident when they started doing the Halloween events again.
'They were then chased by chainsaw wielding maniacs, doing lasting psychological damage that has impacted my clients ability to earn a living'
'Sir, it was Halloween horror nights.'
Good thing i wasn't there, I went to Universal Studios hollywood before my birthday. The tram line was so long until i heard about this, i feel bad for this family tho. I hope they are still ok.
