REEBOK FLOATRIDE ENERGY X - Long Run Review - EDDBUD
Today I tested the REEBOK FLOATRIDE ENERGY X over a 12 miles or 19 km ish distance in some dry and warm conditions with around 5 mph winds with some 12c temps.
At around 7:55 /mi pace on todays run keeping at an easy long run pace aside from 6 x 200m reps later in the run at harder effort.
I discuss the upper, midsole and outsole performance on what is my typical and regular long run route in terms of distance, elevation and location.

Love this and an absolute steal at around $100 with a discount code. They're like an Endorphin Speed that leans a little slower/easier. They're more stable and great from recovery to uptempo. Very versatile. They don't have quite the all out speed for faster intervals, but are a very capable training shoe otherwise. They really can handle most run types and don't feel too agressive at easy paces.

Hi Ed. Cure for tongue slip I made two slits with a Stanley knife to the upper of the tongue to thread the laces through just like on many other shoes, worked a treat. Bit of advice, the rubber tongue cuts easy but the material between the rubber and your foot is tougher to get through but you don't need to, if you thread the laces between the rubber and the material the laces won't touch the top of your foot, I didn't but I did not feel the laces on my 11½ mile run.

I feel tired in the afternoon but the running wakes you up. I did not like the Energy 3. I found the upper cheap feeling and the midsole heavy and not much energy return. Great for the €49 I paid for it.. I can see that the upper is much nicer on the X but is the midsole the same as the Energy Floatride 3 just with a plate?

Bought them on Reebok website for 64 quids (delivery included) and tested today at the running track. If you are looking for a cheap pair of super shoes long distance oriented, these are definitely the shoes for you. I can't understand why Reebok made them so unnecessarily heavy (aka rigid heel counter and bulky extra foam on the heel). Shaving a bit of weight, it could be a very good pair of super shoes. Maybe not fastest, but certainly very comfortable. After a tough session, the next day your legs will feel ready to go, again!

As a high mileage bod, I don't usually spend this sort of money on R shoes .. at least not for
training, it gets too expensive! (especially in the present climate)
But, having had 12 pairs of FloatRide (they're so durable!), I'll make an exception for
these. Probably not for 'every day' though.. races and 'treats' maybe ;-)
Hope they've made plenty, think they will prove very popular

Just for fun, thought I'd have a look how the numbers stack up against my 12 pairs of the
venerable, basic Floatride V1/V2, which could always be picked up well discounted.....
particularly the first generation, which could sometimes be found for 45 quid.
      12 prs Floatride V1 and V2 (average price 50 quid) = £600
      12 prs £130 - (say) 10% dis = £117 ----------------------- = £1404
      12 prs £130 - (say) 15% dis = £ 110.50 ------------------- = £1326
Be interesting to see what they can be had for, next year, when the new line appears.....

Sometimes when I’m running one of the worst things to happen is rocks and stones getting into your shoes. This means you have to stop to untie your shoe and take it out. This breaks my rhythm and sometimes it’s very difficult or takes very long to get the rhythm back.

I've got mixed feelings about these. They feel fine during my mid length runs - roughly 10-15k - but my legs are sore afterwards. Much more so than with my Hoka Carbon X2s or Novablast 2s. I find the midsole a bit firm, and they're noticably heavier than the X2s and less bouncy than the Novablasts. I've done about 50k in them and hoping they'll soften up! The tongue slippage is really annoying too - i've never had that problem in any other shoe.

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  2 года назад

The carbon x 2 wasn’t good for me. The novablast was a good daily but the reebok has a more plush feel that I like for an easy long run.

I just saw the size guide in the site and EU 42/US9 is 26,2 the EU 43/US10 is 27,1. I was going to buy the EU 43 because it says 27,1cm, but now it seems it will be huge as the difference between 1 size is almost 1cm, if you are correct the EU 43 will have 27,9 cm instead of 27,1 (reebok sizeguide)

@@christiankarlsson4368 I don’t know why but reebok in the X made only full sizes, so they will have UK 7/EU 40,5 or UK 8 /EU 42 you won´t find a UK7,5/EU 41. But if the EU42 is 27cm as you said (did you measure with a tape to check?) and in the size guide is stated 26,2 it is 0,8cm bigger than stated, if we assume the sizeguide is all wrong the EU 40,5/UK 7 has 25,4 at the sizeguide, adding 0,8 it will probably have 26,2cm (exactly what you was looking for), so you could have changed for the EU40,5. Tried to compare as you said with the FE4 table and it seems that the X table should be increased by 0,5cm to be comparable to the FFE4. Besides that I also have a wider feet and hope that the toebox is not narrow, very difficult to buy a shoe online, but I will have to import it so I need luck. Thanks.
