How wildland firefighters fight wildfire and prepare for fire season: Fire and Forest Health Part I.

Wildland firefighters are the first to respond to a wildfire incident. To stop the progress of a wildfire, on the ground resources can use a combination of house lays, cutting or building fireline, and other techniques. Wildfire season is long and arduous; firefighters must train and prepare accordingly. Using the Tahoe National Forest as an example, we learn how wildland firefighters train and protect communities and natural resources. Part one of a three part series.
