one flat spot on the tyre, or a slight imbalance would cause massive vibrations... those 'propellers' need to be in perfect balance. what a monumental boondoggle!
Incredible how Goodyear wants us think that autonomous cars will fload mid-air, after lowering 2 front Aero wheels. It shows clearly that AERO concept can't work with 4-wheeled vehicles, and I'm stunned to see that Goodyear produced this video like this, instead of e.g. making concept cars 6-wheelers instead. Small change, but would make it at least somewhat possible. On the other hand - what would drive these cars? Tiny and weightless battery? Or turbocharged gas turbine (like helicopters of today)? Revving these wheels at insane speed to make the car fly would require ton of energy!
As an aero engineer, I feel an acute sense of embarrassment for having recently purchased Good Year tires for my jeep. This is beyond stupid. Stunningly stupid.
Sam Prudden thus the reason why it’s called a *_”Concept”_* and besides can we predict what kind of technology or material science will make. Maybe someday we’ll have superconductors that can operate at room temperature or any other temperature range.
Did Good Year bring a tire, or, did they bring a tape to Geneva? Looks like I'm watching Tron movie trailer. I like to dream as much as the next person but the caption got me confused.
You know the sad thing about this is that it would probably be perfect for amphibious vehicles. Normally tires produce a lot of drag but with something like this and a independent tire positioning system you could probably get going reasonably quickly.
The design would actually work if the rim's where propellers kind of how we use to see spinning rims, but when you'd want to take off it'd would turn into a drone of sorts using the rim's/propellers to keep the car in the air. Which is possible if we had the power source to send energy to the propellers but enough so it would lift 2000 pounds off the ground and into the air. Impossible... not at all. But maybe have smaller cars with a just nano batteries is more logical because I mean Tesla is kinda the car of the future rn, but beats me why the vehicle is almost weighing 3000 pounds in every design 🙄 we'll just have to see.
При движении по дороге, такие колёса по прежнему будут гнать поток воздуха (пусть и слабее чем при полёте). Это создаст воздушную подушку под авто и снизит сцепление колёс с дорогой. Назад в будущее? :-)
Hello. I'm an inventor. Since I don't have access to the person I need to talk to, I would like you to give the company executives the following information: If the company provides me with the technical resources, I can build the lightest and cheapest flying car prototype for the concept. of flying tire that Goodyear created.
This is what happens when you the ones who flunked out of high school physics to become digital "artists" (scammers). Whoever did this "design" does not know a thing about design or flying. I would be surprised if that person passed basic arithmetic
Fine concept! but if a stone or anything enters the wheel in the radius zone, this will generate a weight inequity that will transform into heavy vibrations when turning fast. Not good! Patents US2305237; US 2333191; US 2312159 are about ways to have airplane wheels rotating on touchdown
Only first responders cars should fly. If you have millions of cars flying, then some will fall and start too many wild fires. This is not a flying car concept. It is a driving drone concept. The multiple propeller drone design is now accepted as the state of the art. How long would it be before one propeller helicopters are replaced by large drones with the same lifting power? ADDING TWO MORE TIRES IN THE MIDDLE SECTION OF THE CAR WILL REDUCE THE LOAD PER TIRE AND WILL ALSO MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO REDUCE THE BULK IN ALL FOUR TIRE-PROPELLERS. We therefore have a car with six tires, four of which become propellers while the other two middle tires, together with a bottle jack extending downwards, will keep the car elevated before takeoff. Where do you locate the up-side-down bottle jack? Ask your wheelbarrow. Beware! Drones do fly over walls and eventually over oceans. Note: The bottle jack will be located behind the front bumper and will function as follows: Step1: The jack will extend until it lifts the front tire-propellers off the ground. Then the front tires will rotate to the horizontal propeller position. Step2: The jack will lower the front of the car until the rear tire-propellers are lifted off the ground. At that moment, the rear tires rotate to become propeller. No more first responders blasting thousand of people eardrums with siren noises just to move through traffic! First responders will be able to lift up above the traffic. Maybe even flying first responders should be restricted to flying over the highways and open spaces only to retain control of the airspace. FYI: I am not a fan of self driving cars. Self driving cars have the potential to increase the number of cars on the streets, because people will drive the cars to work and have the cars drive themselves back home. The cars will be programmed to pick people up from work as well. That translates into two round trips instead of one. All because, it is cheaper to drive a car for hours, than to park a car in a city for fewer hours.
Dear DOT@•, One or two days ago, I was washing dishes and listening to the radio (or TV). It was a documentary about hospital closing and living lots people living in small towns without access to medical care (unless they travel longs distances). For some reason, I started thinking about medical drones that could be programmed to transport a patient to a given hospital without a pilot or even any medical personal onboard. One lady in the documentary lost her husband because the ambulance took too long to arrive. I am hoping that I did not dream about that documentary. That would be as mysterious as a dot. I will be looking for these drones ambulances.
This is the dumbest marketing garbage I have ever seen. No wonder why Goodyear tires blow up; they have the marketing department handling engineering duties.
Goodyear, pay close attention to Gillette. Men speak with their wallets and yours will get more empty, just like Gillette (P&G). Get woke, go broke. Goodyear, never again.
Cool concept, but the vehicle designs kind of suck. No one wants to drive a flying horse carriage. They want a flying delorean, a flying lotus esprite.
one flat spot on the tyre, or a slight imbalance would cause massive vibrations... those 'propellers' need to be in perfect balance. what a monumental boondoggle!
can be supported by 4 other smaller propeller at the upper side which also can be open and close
Great, really looking forward to this in 175 years!
Concept= Future lies,Truth=Tesla
Look back at 1950's, it's the same, but just different desighn.
Михаил Лисов it has been found since 1950??

Yeah, great job! Can't wait for the CRISPR-graphene-quantum-fusion wheel to arrive! Fire your marketing department.
Cool renderings, dudes! Totally ridiculous, but entertaining.
It's actually a real concept.
I think we will live enoutgh to drive this cars...
Most of the buildings are from the kitbash 3d kits ;)
@@Nexus--9 so?
@@peterg7506 what?
I really love the CGI Goodyear, but can you pull this off in real life too?.
I mean the Sphere Tire alone was an amazing idea..
I can't believe this wasn't publish on the first of April.
As an aero engineer, I feel an acute sense of embarrassment for having recently purchased Good Year tires for my jeep. This is beyond stupid. Stunningly stupid.
It doesn't look like a propulsion systems engineer was involved or consulted at ANY point of the development of this concept and video. Oof.

@@1LEgGOdt The angle of attack of those blades are too high for a VTOL vehicle, moreover those blades look kind of short in length.

This is helping me to create propeller tires for boats and make boat in to bikes and kayaks with propeller tires
We're almost there :P
Someone uploaded april fools joke video a bit early i think... Didn't matter, I laughed.

What wheel bearing company would feel comfortable with that amout of liability? Timken?
Air cushion will be created under the car when driving on the road.
Reduce wheel grip.
Remember their green oxygen tire that grew stemcells and rainbows as it drove?
No, I did not, that was hilarious, thanks for the tip!
so make a concept robot drone. Oh, thats too hard.
Great content, cool cars
CHECKOUT TWITTER I INVENTED THE MOTOR!

I dont want autonomous cars in the future, I just want a 6 inline, petrol engine, and manual transmission, thats 's the future
What a magnificent and beautiful concept, I hope this will roll on our roads and fly in the skies by 2065.
It's possible by adding a turbine. i have a related idea for propulsion. Still on project x.
U can put 6 or 8 wheel
nice tire that its airless and an propeller for motor turbines
great technology, yes, but i clicked the thumbs up button here for the great CGI more than anything else!

I WISH that it could work, but someone please tell me what would happen if the battery of the car dies..
I love it do it now

make the motor already
The video is cool and all but the usefulness of this concept seems questionable. Seems like if at all, this would be more useful for small drones.
Ни надежности, ни запаса прочности. Только красивая картинка.
Even if this thing were real, I wouldn't get up on it. It fails mid air and you're dead. At least airplanes are statiscally more reliable now days.

CGI tires are the best.
