Awesome, I was waiting for this review as well! I'm saving up to get this myself. I never thought I would say the words I want a $1000 phone. They got me with this and I'm convinced I need a $1,000 phone now!
After being a loyal "iOS lifer" mostly cuz Google Play store "plays" with my security and privacy. Recently I bought the Wing (5 days ago) not to leave the iOS ecosystem and start a new with Android. I'm in way to deep so my new "iPhone 12 Pro Max Hyper Mega Super Plus Ultra" has a new friend to hang with because to me I like the LG brand but was sad that they recently announced that they will no longer be in the cell phone market. So naturally I bought it for the novelty collector piece to match all of my Sony crap that's collecting dust *...i.e. MiniDisk, PSP, PS-Vita... etc, only to name a few. But with the rant out of the way, I actually like the way LG put it together in both hardware and OS build , its not perfect but I've found a happy place for it in my life.
I am tempted by this phone. Yes its pricey a for a mid-range spec phone but the swivel is not a novelty like many of the fold-able phones right now. Compare this to the Microsoft Duo or the Samsung Fold and I think the LG Wing beats it in terms of functionality with a smaller form factor. The software does look a little slow and hopefully gets improved in future updates. I would want to hold this thing in my hand before committing but it might be worth pulling the trigger. At the end of the day you can always just ignore the swivel and still have a pretty solid phone.
Luckily since its not just a standard 785 processor but the 785G, it seems to be better equipped in handling just about anything that you throw at it despite its listed processing speed. The camera features and the smoothness in the video, along with the ability to multitask conveniently, while also allowing you to keep the phone as a standard brick, are what sold me. Theres no pjone like this on the market right now.
Tip: You can speed up the swivel animation on the main screen by changing the transition animation scale from 1.0 to 0.5 or off in the developer options. It changes instantly on my Wing. You're welcome.

I suspect this ended up being the final nail in the coffin for LG phone production. Personal opinion is this is actually silly! I am a fan of LG phones and had every model from G2 through to my current LG G8 ThinQ LM-820N (128GB/6 SD 855 Android11) this'll do me until I need to find a sensible sized replacement, probably the ASUS Zenfone 8 (not the swivel camera model). Oh well, I think LG did it to themselves after the LGV30+ became outdated and specification deficient. It had a useful sized amoled screen all the usual LG 'bells and whistles' and was both hand and pocket and handbag sized. The V40 just 'grew in size, the V50 and V60 got even bigger and more unwieldly. The G3 for its year was a nice useful phone, The G4 was, well - OK, G5 was a fated experiment that should have been learned from, G6, a really good phone, G7 very nice even its LCD screen was lovely,. It beats me what happened with the G8. A sub-specificationed G8S sold poorly in my Australia, the Korean domestic version of the G8 (which I have) was and is a great performer, the USA spec'd G8 was again a 'lesser' version. The Velvet is far too big in physical size and runs a lesser Snapdragon which stopped me from buying it by reason of size and performance. seingThe budget models - well, less said the better, low performance saw them promptly re-appear on eBay for second-hand sale. All my personal opinions - disagree if you wish :-)
Fold 2 is the obvious choice if you don't mind the price. I would rather choose a second gen future proof fold 2 phone than a literal embodiment of gimmicky phone which is lg wing.
I absolutely love GSM Arena and never need to go anywhere else for my phone stats. This review was top notch on this phone. You really nailed all the fine details and had an un biased review on it with this video. You made some interesting points on what it lacks and why it does well. I just want to say upfront I'm an LG fanboy so I am biased. I want to say this phone is the best deal you can get in 2020 for $1k. This is not a 2020 crappy foldable phone like microsoft duo or samsung galaxy fold. Those are $2k foldable tablet phones that are beta versions, at best, in my opinion. $1k phones have been out for years and this blows away any other $1,000 phone ever made on the market. This is a phone with added camera and multi task features. At the end of the day it's a phone, LoL. Next devices we see on the market will feel like we might as well carry small laptops with us, give them cellular service, and call them phones, to compete with samsung and microsoft. I don't understand the need to have your phone be this mini computer?? They've all been mini computers basically since the introduction to 4GLTE. This device isn't a "foldable" device, it's a phone (as it should be), with added comfort and multitask features. LG needs better marketing and advertising. They always have the best concepts and directions that nobody knows about.
#LGWingObsessed! This phone's got two screens - perfect for multitasking like a champ! The camera kills it too, capturing amazing pics and videos. Only bummer is that there's not much options to protect both the screens and the body. So I had to take refuge in a screen and body protection film from gadgetshieldz and skins instead of cases. Its kinda frustrating to be left with no options. Other than that great innovative phone!
Looks cool as hell, but all those moving parts don't bode well for reliability. I can imagine that front camera getting stuck in the up or down position pretty easily.
The concern about "volume buttons while the screen is open" is almost unnerving. It means you totally missed the point of the lower screen's function. Didn't you see you have a freaking volume slider on the screen?
I am a longtime fan of the site, BUT there are a couple of things, of which the worst is the dreadful background soundtrack on this LG wing review (and many others). It is as thou you have NO idea of its effect, which is you switch videos or you have to concentrate extra hard to separate out the voice and its speech patterns from the sounds and its speech patterns. And please actually review camera performance properly. Make sure everyone can see photographs edited from the RAW files in software on a computer as the usual blocky detailless oversharpened messes give NO idea of what a modern smartphone camera can do. Thankyou, I look forward to you following this new, fruitful and informative direction, rather than cheating viewers and manufacturers of the RAW deal!
English is probably not her native language. Modem came from combining MOdulator and DEModulator, if you're not a native speaker,it's easy to see why you would think it's pronounce MOD-em.
Not sure about elsewhere but literally starting today at my company the wing's price dropped to $700, which is much more reasonable imo. I still won't really recommend it because it's an LG and their software is terrible, but it's definitely easier to justify seeing as it's the only phone of its kind.
Maybe just me but looks extremely impractical in every way....and I think as long they do not make some groundbreaking new tech (like 3d holo or something similar) the best shape of phones is the current standard....
i enjoy your videos , but there is something that makes me confused , where are you located ? because i see Russian structures and letters , but your English is perfect , no accent , so , where are you from ?
As a vlogger I think this phone is or looks great to make videos and so many awesome functions like camera movements and I do not need a osmo etc. Has anybody got one yet?

It beats me what happened with the G8. A sub-specificationed G8S sold poorly in my Australia, the Korean domestic version of the G8 (which I have) was and is a great performer, the USA spec'd G8 was again a 'lesser' version. The Velvet is far too big in physical size and runs a lesser Snapdragon which stopped me from buying it by reason of size and performance. seingThe budget models - well, less said the better, low performance saw them promptly re-appear on eBay for second-hand sale. All my personal opinions - disagree if you wish :-)
I loved the G5. I also love guns. I could reload both.
Thanks for the great information
Great review
Back camera mp???
BOGO now on TMO. Should I get it?
What game is that? Someone? 5:12
Thanks for this review!
What is the name of the game...?
Nice review.thanks
So hard to choose, Galaxy Fold 2 or LG Wing 😫
Fold 2 is the obvious choice if you don't mind the price. I would rather choose a second gen future proof fold 2 phone than a literal embodiment of gimmicky phone which is lg wing.
And yeah the specs and compatibility aren't even that good if you watched the whole video. So Fold 2 got a VERY EASY WIN
Go for the Wing if not sure!
@@DarthAwar very careless decision no need to rush. You must be the type of person that loves to burn money for no goddamn reason
Depends on whether you'd keep fingernails or not:)
LG G8x sold in India @$250 only in flipkart big billion days!
A very good phone , maybe my next phone to take me in 5g speeds! Goodmorning from Greece!
So it's a lg velvet that swivels out and has a second screen and a gimbal function got it
I absolutely love GSM Arena and never need to go anywhere else for my phone stats.
Thanks good review
can you tell me name of the game on 5 min
Anybody knows when it will be available to the rest of the world?
#LGWingObsessed! This phone's got two screens - perfect for multitasking like a champ! The camera kills it too, capturing amazing pics and videos. Only bummer is that there's not much options to protect both the screens and the body. So I had to take refuge in a screen and body protection film from gadgetshieldz and skins instead of cases. Its kinda frustrating to be left with no options. Other than that great innovative phone!
Looks cool as hell, but all those moving parts don't bode well for reliability. I can imagine that front camera getting stuck in the up or down position pretty easily.
Pretty good phone but o already has LG v60.
I hope next gen their improve sound and headphones jack.
Rumor is the next LG experimental phone is an expanding rollable display with a fairly standard size until you expand it out to rough zfold size
Still loving my note9
Watch the first Ironman, Tony Stark was the first to use that concept
Lg phone dude
I 'm Loved it More Than I ever Have.
You guys in GSMarena still not doing Meet Angie video. SMH.
The concern about "volume buttons while the screen is open" is almost unnerving. It means you totally missed the point of the lower screen's function. Didn't you see you have a freaking volume slider on the screen?
How about screen shot ?
Good question. I can't figure out yet.
Taking screenshots? Power and volume down button, or scroll down from the top and click the screenshot button.
@@bluesoapxr i know that but is thare screen shot is also T shaped ?
@@harshbhatt6551 Nope it's either or. You can choose which screen to screenshot and it'll either be a full screen or small image.
@@bluesoapxr ok
Imagine Google will be pissed when this phone can open RUclips in one screen and doing anything else in other screen. RUclips premium is dead ha ha
Awesome review... 👍
5:21 A 5G what?
English is probably not her native language. Modem came from combining MOdulator and DEModulator, if you're not a native speaker,it's easy to see why you would think it's pronounce MOD-em.
How the hell you add a skin protectant on that
This phones sells in India at 30k which is around 450$
Not sure about elsewhere but literally starting today at my company the wing's price dropped to $700, which is much more reasonable imo. I still won't really recommend it because it's an LG and their software is terrible, but it's definitely easier to justify seeing as it's the only phone of its kind.
too bad no 3.5 jack
Maybe just me but looks extremely impractical in every way....and I think as long they do not make some groundbreaking new tech (like 3d holo or something similar) the best shape of phones is the current standard....
I got this phone. It's pretty badass. The thing is pretty neat. However. I keep trying to open the phone by swiveling it.
Wait... Only 2k cycles of swiveling the screen sideways. That's seems disgusting low. Is it just me that thinks this seems like not that reliable?
It’s 200 thousand she said it wrong that’s all
Swear this isn’t available in uk
Gr8 phone greetings gongrats LG
I'm waiting for price drop 🤪
lg will sell through Flipkart🤣
Nice 30,000
It looks nice but I don't trust it to not break.
i enjoy your videos , but there is something that makes me confused , where are you located ? because i see Russian structures and letters , but your English is perfect , no accent , so , where are you from ?
As a vlogger I think this phone is or looks great to make videos and so many awesome functions like camera movements and I do not need a osmo etc. Has anybody got one yet?
I do. For the camera, I love it totally
