[LG Wing Review]
The LG Wing is just the kind of phone I’d feature on an episode of my “When Phones Were Fun” throwback series … if it hadn’t just debuted this month! Yes, while the Wing mimics the form factor of 2008’s VX9400, it’s very much a product of 2020, from its 5G chipset to its mammoth OLED displays to its surprisingly innovative Swivel Camera mode. In fact, reviewing the LG Wing was the most fun I’ve had reviewing an LG product since I started this channel - and not just because it involved wine tasting, either!
Still, $999 is no small sum, and the LG Wing isn’t a flagship so much as it is an experiment - a fact that becomes apparent when you look a little closer at the footage coming out of that special camera. To learn more, join me for MrMobile’s LG Wing Review!

There's so much I didn't have time to show you from our mini-road trip, folks. David Cogen does a great job on conveying the fun (ping pong and all!) in his Real World Test: ruclips.net/video/5o9rVXA8v6E/видео.html
can you please tell me where do you get your wallpapers from?
You are the Best. The very best. Been here from the start and will stay here until the end (hopefully there is no end to this)
Great review ,the clear insight into the hindrance of the practical use of the camera was really good ,it illustrates sometimes the strength could be a weakness as well.Kudos to LG fir trying something different with a practical purpose, great video .
You should always name the soundtrack in your videos. This one really matches the video and now I have to keep trying to identify it. Great review once again ❤️

Other reviewers just review the phone. Michael Review makes the review fun. From when the reviews were fun.

flossy carter?
It's the most entergaging review out there.
I agree. I'm not sure why he doesn't have 15million subscribers. He's reviews are excellent and are of the highest quality
he is awesome!
MrMobile in 2020: starts a series called "When phones were fun"
Also in 2020: Phone's become fun again
Coincidence? I think not.
I think engineering the hardware and software for wing took at least a year
Wait until it comes back around in 2030 and this phone stars in “When phones were fun: fold/flip 2.0 era”
@@w99mmt I can practically see you at the party and everyone is rolling their eyes.
Phones will be fun again
👍👍👍
this channel reminds me of my childhood, when technology like this was a novelty and fun
So you could say for this review...you WINGed it.
Hey it's TFS Goku.
Haha - nice
I just read this in TFS Goku voice
I see you're being active in the tech community again. I hope you can be more active here content-wise haha!
Yooooo go Goku!! \^^/ putting the rep game out there!!
LG: Launches Wing
Case manufacturers: Excuse me what the f*ck
Yep, I’m am super clumsy and I could not imagine the nightmare that would happened if I drop it on concrete with it deployed

The Tony Stark of tech reviews, testing a phone that looks like a modern version of what Tony Stark used in Iron Man 1.
THATS WHAT IM SAYING he looks like the Stark man himself
Both were built by LG
U r so right
One of the Tony Starks are ded. Atleast he is here to give us some of that swivel action again
@@jerardocontreras1572 "I am.... Mr. Mobile!" *swivels*
I love LG for their experiments, but this really needs to have a second version - too often their experiments only last for one model. This is a potential winner LG, stick with it!
It needs flagship specs.
$1,000 for a mid-range swivel phone is severely overpriced.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M the price might stay or raise a bit if they would put flagship components on its sequel
Dead
Looking at recent news... oof. But maybe some other manufacturer will give the form factor a go.

Didn't expect this many likes and comments 👌🙂
Me too, I'm dying for his review on the Fold 2!!
@@colombiantom Thanks! It's scripted -- just need to shoot and edit. Slotted in for after the iPhone at the moment.

same here!
man, Iron Man is such a present-futuristic movie I always forgot its filmed in 2007. that's ages ago in phone tech that it's not unusual for Tony to have a retro Swiveling phone.
But that aged well. I thought that was a custom Stark device of some sort, since I too had forgotten how long ago that movie was.
Lol that too was made by lg for the movie.

I don't understand why they had to put the "Z" in the name. Galaxy Fold 2 5G would have been just fine.
While others are being spec junkies who only looks at numbers on a paper, I'm here looking for a "fun" and unique smartphone experience, thanks LG for this one
Nah. $1,000 for a mid-range phone is inexcusable. Very overpriced. Stop defending stupid decisions from a company. No headphone jack and no Quad DAC either from LG of all companies. 😂😂😂
That's like saying the Surface Duo is worth $1,400. 😂😂😂
@@PSYCHOV3N0M except this mid-range phone is different, this one actually has a reason why it's expensive, also it is not a product they expect to sell millions of, hence it will be more expensive to manufacture.
Yes I'd prefer if it were cheaper, but I guess you would like for it to be $600 and then they should pay their engineers and developers minimum wage right?
I'd get it if you were hating on $1,000 normal phones that are just like everything else, but this one? You're just being a cheap-ass crybaby
@@nrgamingtech2797 A cheap ass crybaby??? I have the Z Fold 2 which is worth its $2,000 price and has flagship specs.
A mid-range phone that swivels 90 degrees (which the T-Mobile Sidekick also had a swiveling screen) should NOT be priced at $1,000. Stop bending over for LG. 😂😂😂 The wing should be $750 max.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M yes yes, of course you do :)
@@nrgamingtech2797 I have principles unlike you. 🙃🙃🙃
A phone has to have the proper flagship specs to match the price in order to deserve my money.

The boring and easy slab touch phone has become so commonplace within the last decade. We are now seeing cyclical trends in tech

Shout out to LG’s older curved phones with self-healing polymer backs.
Mr mobile referenced his own movie, nice.
I’ve seriously been waiting for your review on the LG Wing and you didn’t disappoint. Excellent review!! I think it’s a great first generation effort for this design. I can’t wait to see what the next gen looks like. I’m excited for phones again!

Righhhht.. 😅 I'm always fast forwarding in video "ads" or sponsorships.😂
I can tell this was the most anticipated release for Michael since before Mr Mobile! I'm with you, dude! You have great taste!
“Kind of smells like weed!” 😂🤣
I like that your reviews show a bit of history of previous phones. That's awesome.
Whos else thinks its usefull for zoom classes😂😂

Replace the second screen with a physical QWERTY keyboard and just like that MrMobile' s dream phone is made.
and it will become much cheaper!
There's the F(x)tec Pro1 but it's a bit old now
You left out that they include a headphone jack adapter and it has LG 3D sound engine
Good to know!
Still, hpjack lovers will still criticize that nonetheless
I would tell them leave the little adapter attached to your headphones so you don't lose it. Or keep your old phone just for music which is what I did with my LG g7 and I really only use that for trips when I'm in a hotel just like I only need a wired headphone connection if I'm on a long flight with a connection. The sound quality of GOOD Bluetooth headphones is so good now you don't need the wire. You really notice a huge difference in sound with even Bluetooth when you turn the sound engine on
No adapter is an acceptable solution.
@@baoquoc3710 Indeed, the DAC inside that adapter is not better than the DAC inside the V30.
I absolutely love how in depth you go in your videos. Literally the only reviewer I actually trust
This is exactly what I was looking for, an in-depth camera test. All-in All, It fits my needs and I'm glad I bought it. I can't wait to see it in the mail on the coming days. Well done and well said.
Had this phone for about a week I love it battery life is great!!! Its difficult to wield one handed at times depending on what exactly you're doing and the auto rotate can't make up its mind sometimes making it a bit frustrating but I love all the little fun things you can do with it. Phone companys make the same boring thing. I like that this is different. I miss the days of the nokia 1020 or the HTC one m7
What's the average Screen On Time on your Wing?
People's SOT with this device is all over the place so I'm just going to take the average of it all lol
@@Spearra I stay on mine constantly and I get about 4 hours or so
Dude, HTC one M7 is the best designed phone ever invented. I love the front facing speakers.
Lg wing sickss 😃
I wish I could have an updated lg g4. I love how it felt in the hand with it's slightly curved design.
I've been waiting for weeks for this review. I've watched all the others out there and wanted to see what the Fish had to say before I decided to purchase or not. Thanks for always giving us the real reviews
I love the screen saver you have set on the thumbnail photo of this video. I haven't been able to find ANY new themes for the wing.
You know we've been waiting for this for a few weeks now.
So have I! 😄
Currently using the V60 and it's a great phone! Really love the 2nd screen and it feels more practical than a full folding display like the Galaxy Fold. I'm waiting for t-mobile to release the Wing so I can jump up to that!
I have watched a few reviews on this phone and came to the consensus that I had all the information I needed and as such, didn't need or want to watch anymore but any review from Michael Fisher can count on a view from me just because of the sustained top notch quality for the past 4 years. Keep em coming Michael, and I'll keep viewing 👑
It feels like watching a Short movie instead of a regular review and that makes all your videos Awesome 😀
Congrats on getting 1M !!
MrMobile : phone isn't fun anymore
LG : say no more
your colloquialisms never cease to amazing me, I love the style you bring to the tech space
Holy crap! I just noticed you are past that 1 mil subscriber count. GG and congrats my good sir. Keep up the amazing content.
It's like watching high quality fun documentary when I watch your Chanel. Reminds me of TV days I love it.
Marquess: Who's gonna use this gimbal mode anyway!
Mr Fisher: Hold my beer!
There's one other thing about your videos Michael, your trips look and sound like quite the adventure! Good times and all! Always appreciate you "taking" us with you on these small little excursions. ❤
Honestly I was waiting for your review of this device after seeing other well known RUclipsrs, n I must say you nailed it. Others, perhaps due to their inclination towards other major brands, more or less bashed the idea and LG. But your review is truly balanced and not looking just one way. Thanks again for it. I have been using LG phone since G2 and I must say they are not as bad as they have been portrayed (*except some concepts 😜). But i, too, have enjoyed their experimental approach since putting buttons at the back to wing 😉 it. Cheers
Tony Stark reviewing his phone back in the days of Ironman 1
Just turned on my notif bell and it seems I've missed a lot! Unique design from LG and would happily buy it if they fixed that low res in gimbal mode! The camera is always my primary focus. Texting from my LG V30+ and looking for my next upgrade. Awesome vid as always!
man i love this series so much
I truly wish LG would have hung in there.
Like any smartphone company there’s a lot to love and…. hate about their products. But they brought quite a few ideas to the table - this, being a fascinating one, with which future development could muster up a faithful following of a solid product.
Granted, the big 3 of Sammy, Google, and Apple were tough competition for LG and Sony as well - I just hated to see LG finally throw in the towel.
I’m sure many will say “the writing was on the wall” - and there’s no denying the nuggets of truth in that statement it’s just hard to see them fold to the likes of Samsung, focus on the pixels of their TV’s rather than stay in the ring against Google’s lineup, and prove to Apple that immediate invitation isn’t always a bad thing vs. making the consumer wait forever for interesting, and even useful features in a phone. (This coming from someone who uses an iPhone as their daily driver)
Oh well, it’s obviously true that just because you have wings doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll fly.
When the wing was held out the door I was waiting for you to take off. Maybe instead of ping pong both phones out the windows would have worked.
Totally would look into getting this if there was a full spec version. Love the idea and your review!
Amazing Job as usual!!! I was waiting this review for soo long because I knew you will love it!!!! Now lets wait for the Fold 2 Review!!
That shot at 5:30 had me at the edge of my seat! 😂 So terrifying, yet so beautiful
I am excited for lg's future. My favorite phone of all time tho, is the v35, a step up from the v30. Cool to see that they can, once again make cool phones as proven by the velvet and even "innovate" in a way with this. Great video!
I'm writing this on a v35. I can't find a phone that can replace it. They all make me lose something
@@PresidentJackBauer im never letting go of the headphone jack
@@PresidentJackBauer sadly, mine's display died. It's so interesting to see other s use the v35 too, it was covered by like one big channel on RUclips and that was the extent of the press it got. The V35's display has made me never want to switch from oled or 1440p, and the cameras are truly stunning, even to this day.
@@laeditor Sadly, I had to switch to the s8+ cuz my display died. V35 is 100% better imo.
The best thing about watching this video is that I am currently watching this on my all new LG G8X dual screen which I just got for a tremendous deal. Great job Mr. Fisher.. Love your videos.
Man i knew i was gonna rely on your review to know how good this phone is when i first saw it announced. Please never stop reviewing weird/fun phones. Love your content !!

When are you going to review the Mate 40 Pro?
Been waiting for this eagerly
When I saw the Phone first 1/2 weeks earlier, literally I was thinking about your series WHEN PHONES WERE FUN.
That flip sound is so satisfying
This is the first Android phone that is seriously tempting me to switch from Apple.
SWITCH. Apple is so boring and bland man. Android phones are actually fun
Android phones are cool and whats in and not limited like Apple

If you DO switch get something like a LG Wing, Samsung galaxy fold or a phone that ISNT a boring slab of glass with ''muh specs'' being the only thing it has to offer.

Hey, I'm new here. I didn't know Iron man did phone reviews, pretty cool.
Michael's soothing voice and LG's satisfying swivel, a match made in heaven! ❤️
Other reviewers were out with the lg wing since long but this is the review I've been waiting for impatiently❤️❤️
Love your videos, you upload not just a phone review but a story to captivate your attention and include tiny details which might help make the decision. Loads of love man👍
LG phones were FANTASTIC!! One of my favorite phones to use was an LG. Screw Samsung’s poor attitude to hardware and software which somehow has not toppled THEIR phone business yet. I don’t honestly know how LG- which made better phones- lost out. And I was a 6 year Samsung user- I’m fairly unbiased.
Finally, a phone that actually has airplane mode!

You know you've seen too many MrMobile videos when, if you see an interesting phone released, you can't wait until he gets his review out! First thought when my timeline gave me mkbhd's review was "wow, reminds of when phones were fun"
Finally everyone is showing LG some love🙏❤️❤️❤️
I do. But yeah, only 1 percent of the big RUclipsrs actually make great review about it!
"Everyone"
I wanna see Iron Man cosplay using this phone from Mr. Fisher
i like how you review a phone by being honest and other reviewers just beat around the bush. you tell like it is , everything wrong with the phone and i gotta say its very innovative phone and i do miss having a sidekick.

Michael we know you've had this phone since at least 2008. You even showed us at 0:23. smh

it's LG, so think twice
Thank you Michael for taking the time to get out & show us your back yard! 🇦🇺
What a neat idea. I'm so happy to finally see actual innovation and different things to choose from in opines again. It reminds me of the 2000s.
I still want one. I'm pissed that LG gave up making phones. They've been the only Android phone manufacturing brand I've had for my last 4 phones and I hate Samsung's BS almost as much as I hate the iSheep's iCrap.

Hopefully this doesn’t translate to them ditching that beautiful DAC in their flasgships. But I won’t be surprised if they do. Even laptops have started to ditch the headphone jack and the next gen Apple Macs probably won’t have it either. That’s how you know the headphone jack is ded.
It's only for this phone, LG is not planning to get rid of thr jack on other future phones, just some Explorer project phones where they don't have the room.
@@zacharywebb7197 Yeah. Samsung wasn’t planning to do it either. Anyway, what we’re asking is not offer it even when it’s long been dead, we’re asking them to give the jack till it feels like an outdated ancient port that Apple and others are making it out to be.
Very nice video mike, been following you ever since I read a writeup you did for a blackberry phone years ago. Your video editing has gotten basically perfect so I sadly have no suggestions for you ;D
Thanks Michael! I appreciate this review. This is the first phone I was tempted to buy since the OnePlus 7 Pro (which I still use as my daily driver). Mobile has gotten more stagnant for me personally so seeing the Wing was thrilling. Looking forward to a Wing 2 at some point in the future!
I like how your hair is slowly turning into a soft-serve curl. Also, I'm still mad at myself for not getting the LG Flex back in 2014, which I found to be oddly pleasant on the eyes in portrait mode when I test drove it in the store. I'm mostly sold on the Wing, here-as long as someone more experienced with LG phones can provide some anecdotes or info on how often they update their software.
Sorry to edit, I just feel the need to to clarify something. When I say I found the LG Flex to be "pleasant on the eyes", I don't mean that it looked good sitting on a table or something. I mean that, for me, the curved display actually made the experience of using the phone more inviting to my eyes. At arm's length, the curve was just right, so that all of the text on the screen was facing directly at me. On a normal screen the text subtly takes on distortion following perspective lines on parts of the screen not facing directly at you, but the curved screen gets rid of some of that. It sounds really stupid, me typing it all out like this, but the effect in person was really compelling. To me, at least.
Congrats on one million 👏
