Thanks for this. Poor Joseph. At least his final days were somewhat pleasant. What a sad story. And yet from your account he was not a sad wretch. Unhappy and in pain probably but he did get some life experiences in his 27 years
This is one of the historical accounts accounts of John Merrick . A story which caused me great interest in my child hood when the movie was shown in the 80s. A very sad story indeed.
Thank you for showing his legacy with kindness and respect. It’s probably for the best that they don’t put his skeleton on display for public consumption. I hope that one day maybe they can find out what happened, and I think it’ll be known as Merricks deformity. I hope that doesn’t sound rude I don’t mean any disrespect to him.
Actually Joseph had Proteus syndrome. It’s a rare genetic condition and of course his case was very severe! They used genetic material from his skeleton to arrive at the diagnosis. Very sad story!!! He had a beautiful heart and soul!! The movie makes me cry every time I watch it.
@@redvikingprincess741 oh I was unaware they already diagnosed him, thank you. Yes truly a sad story. He deserved love and affection he seemed to have such a sweet disposition.

And i also think that his mom may of been right. Ive heard of other cases like that about an animal, another person even foods that caused stress on the baby while in the womb just not as extreme as Mr. Joseph's.

Even with the most benevolent intentions, we'd have been unable to help that man, only by the sheer difficulty he had to make himself understood. I doubt his deformity would have even allowed to express himself properly with sign language. Thankfully, his beloved mother and his compassionate friend were the light of his sad life. Bless them.
Thank God for Dr. Treeves and the hospital workers that gave him some tender care. Queen Alexandra had a slight limp she developed after childbirth. She was a kind-hearted woman who likely felt real sympathy for this sweet man.
A sad story but it did have a nice enough ending, but life was hard for most working class people back then. Joseph’s early life was not that different from many others despite his profound disabilities.
People think their lives are so bad that we forget those whose lives really are! We all need to be grateful,, because there is someone who struggles and lives in a much worse situation!
Yes I have heard of him, its kind of sad. To be thought of as a freak. But I do have human compassion.it was not his fault.to disown him, have him displayed that way is just wrong. Growing up saw a lady with club feet. As a child I asked my mother why. She said the woman's mother marked her while her mother was pregnant, her mother made fun of areas woman who had club feet. So when her child was born she had club feet. But the lady managed to be OK otherwise. Sure she wore special shoes.but other than that nothing else was wrong. I might been a teenager when she passed. Its just sad to be considered a freak because you are different. Thank you for posting and sharing this. Could be a lesson in humanity.glad that Dr was there. Love, respect and positivity always. Thanks for such an interesting story, he seemed to be such a kind man, I hope he had some happiness in his life before he passed at such a young age and maybe he is in a better place now.
Good one! I never knew anything about Joseph's family life. Thanks!
Some time these stories really hit your heart major.
I have always found his ife fascinating. He show the power of the human spirit. A sad story.
*no fault of his own* no truer words were spoken
Love all your stories
Thanks 💙
Love your videos!!!
Glad you like them!
Hearing about Joseph always breaks my heart... poor guy 😢 From what we know about his personality he seemed like he was a kind guy so if I lived back then I would've been his friend for sure 😊
So sad poor man 😭😭😭😭
Truly a sad story. It also shows how judgemental and cruel humans can be a lot of times.
Enjoyed the new episode FL!😀I have seen films about Merrick. A sad story. He was a brave man to endure all that he did! Stay Safe FL!
Glad you enjoyed 😃
Awww I'm glad that he enjoyed the last years of his life and got to know at least some form of happiness, and that poem is brilliant 👏 RIP JOSEPH MERRICK 😢 🙏 🕊 ☮
You did a great job narrating this case but it is a heart breaking case
What a mind he had, such eloquence. I think he must have rewards coming in heaven for his hard, hard. life. A noble man all said.
How cruel! Bless him, and those who helped him
Glad to see that even back then when times were so hard for common people there were always someone there to take care of him.
The least that could be done for him is not display his skeleton, what a tragic story.
I am glad his skeleton isn't on display.
@@Jaggededge112 me too.
Watching this at work maybe wasnt smart because im really sensitive and cried the story. But bravo for making this sweet story when i did forget about him but now thanks to you i know more. And i also think that his mom may of been right. Ive heard of other cases like that about an animal, another person even foods that caused stress on the baby while in the womb just not as extreme as Mr. Joseph's.
I cannot imagine you guys doing new vids this week with Christmas coming, so I'll say Merry Christmas here! Thanks for a great year's interesting vids. May you be safe and blessed. xxxx
One of my favourite true stories ever ❤ the film starring anthony hopkins is equally fantastic..I am new to your channel & i love all the videos i have seen so far ..keep up the superb work 👏🔥💯👍
Poor man..thank you for this..
Bless them.
Sad story. Glad he found some happiness in his short life
So sad... made me cry!
I would advise people to watch the film with John Hurt. He plays the character so well, you feel everything he went through.
What incredible strength, dignity and grace he had.
That doctor deserves an award!! 🏆🥇🎖
Thank God for Dr. Treeves and the hospital workers that gave him some tender care. Queen Alexandra had a slight limp she developed after childbirth. She was a kind-hearted woman who likely felt real sympathy for this sweet man.
Great Job!!! Thank You Sir!!! 👍😎
I remember watching this movie when i was little...so sad
Thanks. I’ll be back in a few. Watching In Lies we Trust.
Thanks 😊
Enjoy!
What’s in lies we trust? Does he have another channel? I love this one.
@@manda.watching.RUclips No. He doesn’t. This is a documentary. It’s 2.5 hours long. Pharmsters taking over our lives.
@@manda.watching.RUclips I’m only watching it piecemeal. It’s very involved.
I love documentaries. I’ll have to check it out.
His soul was beautiful
This one really got me 😢 poor man deserved a kinder life.
Only 27 smh but he has a brand new body in heaven.
If I could have dinner with anyone it would be Joseph. If not only so I could hug him and tell him how much he matters
Truly awesome narration crime reel suggest this channel
A sad story but it did have a nice enough ending, but life was hard for most working class people back then. Joseph’s early life was not that different from many others despite his profound disabilities.
God Bless his Soul, may he Rest in Peacep/Paradise ❤
Heartbreaking!!! 💔😢
I’ve always felt bad for Mr. Merrick since I first saw the movie about him years ago. So sad...
Great video. Was going to ask you to do this story
Glad to hear it !
People think their lives are so bad that we forget those whose lives really are! We all need to be grateful,, because there is someone who struggles and lives in a much worse situation!
A tale of personal strength.
Neita James.:-)
Good presentation as usual on this 😢case,I still have a book about Joseph👋
Yeess! I can't wait to listen to this!
JOSEPH IS WITH THE ONE WOMAN HE HELD DEAR TO HIS HUGE HEART IN HIS LIFE, HIS MOTHER...RIP JOSEPH 🥺💔💋
Thank you.: I didn’t know about his family life. Your research was v good. I live in Northamptonshire and it’s told that he often stayed at the Knightley’s place Fawsley Hall. Dos anyone know if it’s true.
His POEM!!!!
"He did not seem to enjoy the workhouse"... you think?
