  • Learn all about the best natural dry eyes treatment! Here I share some research and guidance into what I consider to be the best natural treatment for dry eyes. Dry eye syndrome can be very complex and more omega-3 fatty acids in your diet can help prevent dry eye symptoms naturally. If you are struggling with your dry eyes, hopefully, this information will help you out.
    As noted in the video, this content is not sponsored and I did not want to discuss any brands of omega 3 supplements specifically.
    If you want to track the omega 3 numbers in your own blood (like I have),
    Save 5% with OmegaQuant omegaquant.com/ref/533
    If you wish to dive down the rabbit hole of how omega 3s can help with dry eye, as I did, here is a list of referenced studies to help you.

    Despite the research cited, there is some debate in the literature about omega 3s but a lot of that can be lost in the small nuances of the research being conducted.
    Personally, at least on the topic of dry eye, I have found the majority of research supports omega 3s can help improve meibomian gland secretions, reduce tear film inflammation, stabilize the tear film and improve dry eye symptoms.
    Note: Dry eye syndrome can be complicated by other forms of ocular surface disease and it is always best to consult with your local eye care professional if you are experiencing any eye pain or vision changes.

    After studying and suffering from dry eye, I understood that dry eyes is not an eye disease,its disease related to inflammation which can be due to viral infections, immune related issues, or related to gut, work on underlying causes, any eye drop, warm compress etc are short term relief but nothing changes without dealing with underlying cause

    Just wanted me make a comment about dry eyes…..I am a retired hospital nurse and have worn contact lenses for 56 years ( since I was fourteen) . I have found that when I am well hydrated with pure drinking water …..……have purposely hydrated at designated times during the day ( like taking a dose of life -saving medicine!) , I do not have dry eyes and my contact lenses remain comfortable from sunup to ( well past) sundown. In my decades of nursing, I never had to wear my glasses once…….as long as I was well hydrated!!! I discovered the importance of drinking water to make the eyes moist ! Just wanted to share!

    • @bauman11

I did have sinus surgery! I had tried 25 different eye drops, I did warm compresses, the tea tree eyelid wash and increased my Omega 3 still had dry eyes! We went to this health spa signed up for three day water fast on alkaline water to induce autophagy. I noticed my dry eyes went away! I talked to my ND about it later and he put me on an alkalizing formula that is mixed in water and told me to increase my water intake as well and that worked I was cured.

    Excited to see the follow up video of your own experience taking omega-3!
    I'm not convinced omega-6 is per se inflammatory though. For sure saturated and trans fats are, but it really seems like eating unsaturated fats, including omega-6, in the context of an unprocessed diet is healthy. I think the main issue is not getting enough omega-3, independent of omega-6 intake. But I'd be interested to hear you elaborate on your arguments against omega-6 in another video...

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  Год назад +8

      Yes! Omega 6 is pretty interesting. A little more complicated I feel. There is at least one subtype of omega6 which is anti-inflammatory and may be beneficial. Agree on the sat/trans fat as being not the best.

      Saturated fat is not inflammatory. It cannot be oxidized, unlike polyunsaturated fats which includes omega 3. I'd suggest a thick eye ointment that provides a barrier over your eyes while you sleep so that they don't stick in the morning. I use drops during the day but they are not enough to help at night so I use an ointment. It's fiddly to put in and makes eye sight blurry for a little bit after application but you'll be sleeping so that's fine. I don't wake up with sticking eye lids anymore. I get mine from Amazon as the one my optician suggested is apparently out of stock everywhere (lacri lube) so I had to find an alternative. I live in England. Good luck.

      Oh wow! Great to hear you have found some relief with the Optimel Manuka honey drops, I have not read much about them helping floaters, but either way I am happy to hear it. Omega 3 supplements have been shown in some studies to contribute to bleeding, however, newer research supports that the increased bleeding risk has to do with the TYPE of omega 3 supplements (because of the processing). A tryglyceride form of omega 3 is not supposed to contribute to bleeding risk. But, due to your other systemic issues and risk, best to ask your PCP if they have heard of the Tryglyceride forms of omega 3 vs ethyl ester forms in regards to bleeding risk and if they can confirm it and what they think will be best/safest for you. But most surgeons do not worry about omega 3s before surgery because the bleeding risk of omega 3s has largely been disproven.
