Despite the research cited, there is some debate in the literature about omega 3s but a lot of that can be lost in the small nuances of the research being conducted.
Personally, at least on the topic of dry eye, I have found the majority of research supports omega 3s can help improve meibomian gland secretions, reduce tear film inflammation, stabilize the tear film, and improve dry eye symptoms.
Note: Dry eye syndrome can be complicated by other forms of ocular surface disease and it is always best to consult with your local eye care professional if you are experiencing any eye pain or vision changes.

I’ve taken Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega-D3. Recently I switch to Nordic Naturals ProDHA Eye (omega 3: 1460mg- EPA 360mg+ DHA 845mg; lutein 20mg ; zeaxanthin 4mg). I do eat wild sockeye salmon regularly too.
And I’m still confused about the EPA:DHA ratio as different sources say different things. And we know DHA is good for the brain, it means good for the eyes. EPA is good for anti inflammation and heart health. ?!?! Confusing

Thank you so much for your research and this video in particular! I have suffered from extreme dry eye caused by Sjogrens disease. It was so bad I couldn’t sleep over two hours at a time without severe pain on trying to open my eyes. It wasn’t uncommon to feel like I was being pierced with pitchforks and seriously thought life would be better without my eyes! It would get so bad, I was experiencing corneal abrasions every few weeks, then steroids to heal. All that while using Xiidra (very expensive!), Tryvaya nasal spray for dry eyes and a myriad of OTC PF drops. In other words, nothing was making a difference, let alone improving the situation. My local eye doctor and one specialist were of little help. I even had duct plugs put in. No help!
Then I saw this video and immediately ordered PRN DE3. It has been four months since I started taking three a day and I am off all the prescriptions, I use just a few drops of Oasis per day, the plugs are out, and I can sleep for hours and hours with no difficulty opening my eyes on awakening.
It has been LIFE CHANGING! I just cannot thank you enough. What a difference Omega 3 can make. Please continue researching and posting your findings!

I just started taking the Omega-3 supplement from Sports Research. They are in TG form. Each soft gel pill contains 1040 mg of Omega-3, 690 mg in EPA and 260 mg in DHA, almost a 3:1 ratio. Taking 2 pills daily for ~2000 mg of Omega-3, with a 180-pill 3-month supply, it averages out to ~50 cents per day. The oil comes solely from Alaska pollocks, which is low in mercury. The gel capsule is made from fish gelatin, not land animals.

Interesting! I use the Nordic Naturals x2 and I have never experienced any fishy taste or smell at all. I'd suspect that bottle might be rancid if it's tasting fishy.... weird! The Nordic Naturals is the only brand I have had success with as far as taste. Although, I do store mine in the freezer and to keep the oil as fresh as possible - some people say storing in the freezer helps neutralize the fish taste, so perhaps that's why I've never had issues.

I too had this dilemma. And then an amazingly simple solution occurred to me. Why not just eat Cod livers. You can find them easily online and at big box grocery retailers. They taste great, a lot like tuna fish. You can eat them by themselves or substitute them in any recipe using tuna fish. I prefer mine in a leafy green salad. Easy-peasy.

I recently was diagnosed with acute angle-closure glaucoma (narrow angle). I had laser iridotomy surgery done on both eyes. Dr. McConnell took a lot of time explaining and recommending resources I could use to research glaucoma. Before that, I "assumed" there was just glaucoma. I wasn't aware that there were different kinds, etc. Maybe, when you have time, you can cover glaucoma. The incredible pressure and pain in my eye could have easily been dismissed by me. I originally thought it was a cluster headache/migraine. Since it felt like my eye was going to explode, split open, I called the Ophthalmologist first. I'm glad I did. * I just watched your live stream video from 3 months ago. Thank you for the information. It was very informative.

Hello, So far I tried different brands available in France, the specific dry eyes problem if difficult to understand as the specialist doctor said to me that my eyes were dry but I don't feel it. I take Omega-3s in two forms, one for the eyes and one general. I wish to switch to cod liver oil, looking for research about that. What I felt from starting Omega-3s in general is a HUGE improvement in : MEMORY, mood stability, and also deep core happiness. At work this gives much better resistance to disturbances, the getting back to tasks is much improved. A NOTE ON THE VIDEO : the fish oils contains naturally Vitamins A, D, E, and the vitamins A and E are those that we should not overdose on (so it is better when the label gives the information, when the label says nothing the vitamins are there anyway but you don't know how much). As far as I know it is not clear cut if the benefit are coming from the EPA or the DHA and it is also possible that the benefit come from OTHER substances present in the fish oil. Overall since I do Omega-3s I am calm, fast, focused, I know better who I am and listen better to others. Life is much better.

I bought this brand in the video without reading amazon comments. Turns out people were feeling weird after taking the pills and some bottles had all the pills stuck together and other problems with the product itself. I decided to just try one pill at first to see if I got a weird reaction and after a few hours of taking it my skin started to break out. This is the second time I ever try to take supplements or vitamins, the last time it was a B complex pill. Both times my skin breaks out really bad with these products so I can´t continue. I would recommend anyone trying this to be aware of this possibility.

Hey thanks for sharing, Demi. Waking up in the morning with dryness or pain is no joke. Some people do get pain, first thing in the morning do to dryness but some people also have a condition called recurrent corneal erosion. Where the eyelid sort of peels a small part of the corneal tissue when the eye opens, have you had it checked out by a local doctor? That would be the best next step, just to get a proper diagnosis and guide for treatment.

I had no floaters in both eyes until I had received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine and I can't help but wonder whether there is a causal link. I am a high myope (-8, -8.5) and had no issues with floaters or irritation associated with digital eyestrain prior to being vaccinated, but I began noticing symptoms of light sensitivity and floaters a few months after inoculation. Would love to hear your take on this recent study.

the TG or triglyceride form is important : the human body absorbs a tiny part of the esterified lipids, the liver pancreas can free the fatty acid but this is done on a small part of the lipids, however the triglyceride form does NOT guarantee that it will be absorbed, because various systems (liver, small intestine, bacteria) will regulate those lipids according to needs, so even in triglycerides form, not all will be absorbed. If you eat a big chunk of fish, and then take the pill, most of it will go to waste but you will benefit from the real fish. as for other nutrients, it benefit to those lacking. If you eat a lot of fish it is then probably expensive pee/poop.

You did the research on their effectiveness against dry eye but I have been taking krill soft gels for years for general cardiovascular health. Has anyone heard about this? It seems very suspicious as there is nothing I can find online about this. Also, I was not able to see the amount of tax they were going to charge me until I fully checked out and received the confirmation email which makes it seem even more suspicious. I was already very reluctant to purchase from them because of their subscription based model and there is no other method for cancellation other than calling them.
