Ok, I just took mine out today it doesn't have a nylon gear in it and it's sealed unit like yours is. It only moves one way though it doesn't go back and forth. I'm looking at the inside of the transmission and it seems like it's damaged it's like a half moon now and not a complete circle with a slot in it. And I don't think I have a slot left on the end that goes into it. Am I pretty much looking for a new transmission now to fix this issue?

You just need a new Speedo Gear the transmission is fine

@@tvset08 yeah I'm just getting back to it now it's not all the way out how difficult is it to pull the rest of it out? I think it's stuck in the transmission, it's the housing and in front of it's probably the nylon gear.

Heya, I'm the UK and rebuilding my MR2. Do you have some suggestions on cleaning and rebuilding these as mine just seized. I'm guessing it's stripped the Speedo gear but I've managed to free this up with some WD-40. Would like to make sure it's rebuilt though.

      @@tvset08 so regular universal grease?
The pointy part with the gear in it seems to have grooves on the end that look like they suck in gear oil. Is this true or do i need to push some grease down there too?
