I have a similar setup from a kickstarter MANY years ago. The tech has been here for a while now. Unfortunately the one I have has really janky and hard to figure out software so I've never done much with it :(
It's about $12,000 USD but It's actually pretty cheap considering how much animations cost to contract out. A single character with all movement types needed for say a 3rd person shooter would be around $2-5k. and if doing cut scene animations this thing would pay for itself in a couple minutes of footage. For a full game with story animations inbetween gameplay, enemy multiple enemy movements etc, this would save you a ton.
That is about the coolest thing I have seen for a while. Smooth moves (literally and virtually) and it helps to have an employee who can actually perform physical activity. Would go outside again. 10/10.
How much does it cost? I always hate it when companies don’t put the price of something that’s clearly expensive on their website but instead force you to give them your information in order to request a quote.. I’m guessing somewhere around $5000-$7500

was curious too. I found an "indie program" shopping form, dunno if it's still valid www.xsens.com/indiepage/ step 2 says 12K € for the lycra suit + 1year license, then between 2K and 10K /y depending on licence type & company size also curious : are there some businesses who (also would it be legal to) purchase this kind of stuff to rent it to various smaller studios & indies ?
@@RobbertScholten Things that track you by ordinary cameras are starting to be possible, with machine learning algorithms. With multiple cameras set up in set locations in an area, it should get working pretty well I think, you'd just have to stay in the area they cover and not be too far away.
Very cool stuff guys, excited to see what else you do with it. There's lots of other places to get assets great for mocap like daz3d, turbosquid, & iclone.
this version of the suit looks like is working way better than the older iterations. I've had the "pleasure" of fiddling around with the older suit and the sensors were completely bonkers for the feet (animation actor would have to be using flat footwear so that the sensor was completely leveled). also it was a bit more restricted in terms of capture, think you had to setup a "safe zone" with the older suit. I think I lost at least full hour on the 1st setup + a full day for capturing motion and it still wasn't VERY good.
I've been testing one of the earliest inertial mocap systems in 2008. It had too much problems to use it in most types of a real tasks. Seems that the main problem of inertial systems still presents - dirty animations that needs a lot of time to be fixed. I think that inertial systems can be more efficient only by using hybrid technology with some optical position tracker. But some simple animations (without any actions that needs moving character root by Y axis) can be made pretty fast and they will look passably.
These suits can cost from 12,000 to 30,000 dollars, if anyone was wondering. There are cheaper alternatives going from 2,500 but if you're really short on cash, you can also buy an old XBox Kinect with PC adapter, this set me back about 100 bucks. So there's something for everyone!
When the video started I was like: "Woaw! Those are some nice stock footage of someone doing a backflip with a motion capture suit!" Then midway I realized...
So, the Mocap suit can detect your position without external tracking sensors? Imagine if we had that kinda stuff for Full Body Tracking on Inside-Out tracking VR headsets
Start small! I was there at one point as well, but I made my first game similar to a tutorial but really small so I know I could complete it. Think of a small game idea and find similar tutorials, then try it on your own.
Hey brackeys can you please do a video on how to deal with different aspect ratios on different devices. I have been COMPLETELY stuck on how to deal with dfferent aspect ratios
Those backflips are really impressive :D
Epic video Team Brackeys !
Blackthornprod 💘
Woah didn’t realised Blackthornprod was here
Wow hi noah
A fighting game tutorial would actually be sick
It'd be really cool.
yes plz
And we will never see one :o
Wow, that is so cool!
Motion capture is really neat, I'd love to see more of it as you figure it out!
IndieAustin Hi! Do *You* Know *Where* We Can Get The Suit And If Not, *When?* Thanks!
On body motion trackers without cameras or other external sensors? That's impressive!
Dont we need like a sensor or a camera for the motion trackers to work?
Adrie Jude no, it’s amazinf

That Company gave him a free suit but instead it's Sponsored by skillshare.
It's Borrowed so they'll send em back

What is about $12k? Because the suit on the official site is sold for around $700.
WOW! Fantastic video, thanks for the insight, always wanted to try my hand at some mocap stuff. Also, Andres can backflip too? what can't Andres do? 😅
That is about the coolest thing I have seen for a while. Smooth moves (literally and virtually) and it helps to have an employee who can actually perform physical activity. Would go outside again. 10/10.
6:30
Then i programmed a simple controller...
Me: dead
For me its Just Spider web xd
"That's pretty much it" :)
Can you please make a video of this "Simpler Controller 6:30 XD" like fighting combos animations.

They send the same suit to Corridor Crew, and the suit itself costs about $10k and software is expensive too.
This article says between $12k-30k

Wow lol i didnt know it could be THIS expensive x) , i thought it was like maybe less than 300 $
If only I knew how to backflip, Motion Capture would be so useful to me
I can't even walk right :/
This is awesome! I'd love to see the giant robot doing parkour though!
Me: perfect for my upcoming game!
*checks price*
Me: :O
Nice way to casually advertise your upcoming game.
@Stickman Family 12000 USD for the hardware and software I guess.
The Motion Capture suit... Rocks!
Thanks for showing me something I'll only ever have in my dreams.
Wow, Andreas is fit! And 5:17! What was that?! I'd break my legs if I did that! And he didn't even roll!
This was beyond awesome ...image the amount of cool animations you can get if you hire a parkour artist
Now time to have a guide about IK to correct anims ?!!
Imagine online VR with affordable motion capture suits. This would be so crazy!
It still costs 10000+ to use this suit and I dont see any affordable motion capture systems coming in the near future

the motion capture devices i used previously Motive and RoCoCo didn't capture data as clean as this . Good to see clean data!
Dude, Andreas is basically a parkour ninja!
Ikr, he's insane!

Love the worm at the end lol!
This is how Disney should do their animation movies
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate what a fucking legend Andreas is?
At the end, NICE GRIND! You know, that slow flop to the floor, AKA the Grind.
iiVoltageWolf I call it the worm
that backflip in the beginning really surprised me
Plot twist: the suit actually makes the wearer do moves planned in Unity.
I like that skillshare sponsors you when you do tutorials
Woaw this suit is so awesome it can even make you do backflips!
You can't stop progress!
Why is Adres a ninja!? He's so cool
The worm, at the end, had me dying!
Woah this is soooo cool!

Wow. Imagine the potential for vr games in the future when we already have real time motion capture.
I'd like if brackeys made an open word game as the people are so professional!!!
That - is - so - damn - cool!
I love your videos Brackeys!

Hopefully this will work for vr in the future
It maybe expensive now but cost will definetly come down later and most indie studio's will have such tool :D
more motion capture stuff. thats cool
Next video should be "motion capture using a phone", would be perfect
With A phone? So just motion capturing a single foot?
this would be really helpful for me as i suck when it comes to animations
That guy is a ninja
I wish I could like videos more then once
You should get a Leap Motion. It tracks hand movement in real time. Costs around 100€
Thanks. Now I know how Projekt Melody works ;)
Holy crap this is awesome!!
Cool man , so we can making many motion more realistic.... Rock
Imagine combining this with a vr game

Now make a Gollum Animation in The Lord of the Rings.
it would be fun :D
what's the problem with supporting the goat uploader? your viewers support you

@@leecaste Any good alternatives? SInce I searched on the Internet, most people said most of the cheaper choice sucks...

How about some lower end motion cap? like using a kinect? or just white dots on a a regular outfit and using some software to track?
the suit is cool and you created awesome things with it in a short time but i don't think this will be available for indies for a while
