Before you say anything, this was my choice to play. I know it's simple but i'm trying to expand my "beginner" videos, as some of you already know. Remember this is a channel for learning, not for me to show off. Trying to play this with all downstrokes is a bit harder and takes more stamina, but it helps on consistency. I saw some videos with Hoppus doing downstrokes and others with just alternate. About the line, it goes over the tonic of the chords most of the time and then it does some 5ths to create more filling sound and strength. Key is C Major, but the tune is mostly played with chords that are just 5ths. You can imply that is C Major because of the vocal parts. If you are playing this with guitar or other harmonic instrument, you can easily switch all the 5th with full major chords:

Thank you for saying this! Not everyone that plays music has to show off and put down beginners just wanting to learn how to play a song; and maybe wondering if they are playing in an unorthodox way or missing something...

There is nothing wrong with playing pop punk songs, I have a special place in my heart for bands like blink, neck deep, and knuckle puck after being in a pop punk band in high school. It really taught me a lot to have fun with playing and the energy that you play with is more important than the complexity of what you're doing (not to mention it was how I ended up on bass). While I've branched out into R&B, Fusion Jazz, progressive metal and all these pretentious and sophisticated genres, I will never be opposed to listening (or playing) pop punk.

Absolutely nothing is wrong!! 90's music is always in my heart!! Music today from artists like Miley, Justin Bieber, and stupid senseless rap songs using explicit language are always going mainstream. These music are junk and the emotion they convey are just towards hatred, sex, drugs and all negative stuffs in life. Music in the 90's are the best and makes you think about your life the way it should be lived, not sex, not drugs and not nonesense!!

had the same experience with the song "tap out" by the strokes. there's this synth line in the chorus that pulses off beat and once I heard it I couldn't tune it out

Would love to see some more Blink as Hoppus is a very underrated bassist. Carousel, Mutt, Online Songs and The Rock Show would be my recommendations. A nice mix between beginner to intermediate

x's are ghost notes. You need to slightly press on the strings without pushing into the frets to get a precussive dry sound when you pluck

dpeaceyt i love that song! Shit is kind of an over statement. But the sentiment "crappy punk rock" has a little truth in the old stuff. Tom's guitar playing and their singing especially is just "gritty" for lack of a better word. It really feels like it was just some kids playing their hearts out. The crappyness of it really is what made it so good to me. The new stuff is good, but in my opinion not even close to the stuff on cheshire cat, dude ranch, and enema. Love these giys, seen em twice and Im thinking Ill see them again this year.
