- Trailer Review Starts at 3:25 mins. As a super fan of the original and a hater of all sequels following Brandon Lee's masterpiece, I was shocked by this trailer to say the least.

The John Wick comparison is apt and the association is cool. I didn’t put it together until you mentioned it.
The trailer is slick. The production value is hands down the best since the original… though I have a soft spot for City of Angels, too. This feels a little too slick, but I refuse to completely dismiss something based solely off a trailer.
I like Skarsgard and seeing a little more of his relationship with Shelley. I don’t love the fact that there are seemingly other supernatural elements outside of the Crow and resurrection, tho. The song is not convincing me that I’m gonna love the soundtrack and I wish the characters had different names. If they don’t want comparisons they could’ve easily changed the names. If they don’t care about comparisons, they should’ve used “Burn” in the trailer to really evoke the original.
I’m not overly optimistic about it, but you know I’ll be there for it.

Of course I thought of you first when the trailer dropped. This is one that’s definitely going to be polarizing. You’re right. They could have easily avoided the comparison by changing names. This thing is either gonna be sharp, stand on its own from the original and be a decent installment, or piss off fans to no end 🤬🤬🤬. I don’t think there will be a middle ground on this come June.
I have so many issues with this entire reboot but I won't go through them because I know people don't want to read all of that. The fact is, this isn't The Crow in the vein of it isn't the original story, either in comic book or film format. Had Hollywood decided to do a whole new story within the Crow universe, with these two being completely new characters, I think it would have worked very well and been very interesting. The big problem is they're "re-telling" the story of Eric and Shelly and it is a complete bastardization of it from top to bottom and insults the original works by "rebooting it for modern audiences". All this movie is proving is that Hollywood is creatively dead and they've been reduced to cannibalizing previous, great works in order to try and stay relevant now because they're simply incapable of coming up with new stories and ideas.

This comment section saddens me. Guys it's not that deep. It's simply a film. So what if it's good. That's cool. If it's good then hey you have the original and this one to watch. If the film is bad so what? You still have the original. That's the great thing about remakes or reboots. You can either ignore them and pretend they don't exist or give it a chance and not be bias to the original and be open minded to it. The worst that can happen is that it'll be bad. That's all. You still have the original. The best thing that can happen is that it could be good. It could be just as good or better. But just because it could be just as good or better doesn't make the orignal an less of a movie. :) Just thought I'd give my inner thoughts.

With love and respect to what this new take could be, I have to say that the noir vibe, dark and foreboding atmosphere, characters along with the Crow that everyone knows and loves just isn't there, no matter how much its sugar coated to be something else.
I believe the movie could have an interesting voice, but looking at the cut of the trailer, most of the good action seems to be in the same location which hints to it all being inside of theatre. If so then the movies pacing will have a focus not on whats being used on the trailer, but on stuff we are not being shown. That will most likely be the relationship or something else to take up the time of the movie.
This as a standalone film, not that representing the portrayal Shelly and Eric Draven could have worked? But they chose to go with the 90s characters and therefore I just don't see this working. But I hope that I am wrong.

No thank you. Big PASS. This looks mediocre, boring boring city, boring villain, looks like Joker mixed with the same filming as Morbius. People need to NOT see this movie, quit giving them money if you don't like it. You might as well support this if you see it. 👎👎
I feel ya. I haven’t watched a Marvel Movie since Multiverse of Madness. That was a fun trailer but a huge letdown. Not a dime. I don’t support MCU anymore. Trash trash trash.
That being said. I was completely hating this new Crow movie before I ever saw the trailer. Now I am open to it. Worst case scenario I get let down again. I remember City of Angels trailer looking dip only to watch a trash movie. That being said, I get where you’re coming from. But I’m still going to watch.

Patrick Stewart honestly I can't believe ITS FINALLY HERE! after 15 years of being stuck in development hell, people are shitting on this movie for a few reasons A understandably because of what happened to Brandon Lee and his accidental death on set. But mostly because people don't think a Remake is a necessary I respectfully disagree not a lot of people know that the movie is based on a graphic novel, plus there are people out there who've never even heard of The Crow remaking it now for a new generation will get people's attention and gain their curiosity about the character in general. It will get them to check out the 94 film, it will get them to check out the graphic novel, and hopefully the much underrated sequel in my book The Crow Salvation which was easily the best of sequels, Director Rupert Sanders when talking about the new movie acknowledged the death of Brandon Lee by saying "what happened to Brandon Lee was a tragedy and we very much feel his presence was with us when we were filming this we aren't trying to diminish or tarnish Lee's memory or his legacy in any way, we hope he's proud of what we've done. We very much feel Bill is a successor that". The movie has a very solid screen writer Zach Baylin who wrote movies like Creed III, Grand Turismo, and King Richard, I really think Rupert Sanders knows what he's doing and I think it shows by what he had to say about the film in a recent interview
“‘The Crow’ is the original anti-superhero,” Sanders said in a newly released statement. “His story is about tragic loss, about dealing with the pain of everything that comes with losing someone you love, something that all of us have or will encounter at some point in our lives. It is about the dark shadow of grief, about what we would do when something so meaningful is taken from us.”
He also added “The original graphic novel is deeply meaningful for so many, and the character, his journey and his need for revenge has inspired a canon of films for the last three decades. Our version goes back to that graphic novel by James O’Barr, who I had the honor of meeting shortly before production, and explores the love story as the primary drive for our film.”
Brandon Lee's memory and his legacy will always be there the original movie will always be a classic and it will always be a beloved movie, the point of remaking it is to honor Brandon Lee's memory and his legacy, by retelling this beloved story for a new generation. As long as this movie honors the roots and spirit of the original story then Lee's memory is still being honored, its like when Heath Ledger died when Joaquin Phoenix was cast as The Joker for the Joker movie the point wasn't to replace or disrespect Ledger's memory it was to do something with the character that had never been done before. To show him in a different light same thing with The Crow and the sooner more people realize this then the more the legacy of The Crow as a character can live on

Definitely a villain, the original crow was not a drug addict he was a musician and Shelly a photographer. It’s a disrespect that they are portraying them as drug addicts.

We are open to the possibility of it being good but DIFFERENT. I don’t want a reboot of the original as you cannot redo that masterpiece. Imagine having Tom Holland go back and play the exact same Toby McGuire Spiderman movies. Wouldn’t work. It’s got to be different or what’s the point.
BTW. Have you read James O’Barr’s original creation? Graphic violence. Did you watch Brandon Lee’s masterpiece? Graphic violence… tortured Funboy to death with heroin needles. Tortured Tin Tin by stabbing him with all his own knives. The list goes on.
If Bill Skarsgard would have come out dressed exactly like Brandon Lee I would have turned it off right away. It’d be like Henry Cavil putting on Chris Reeve’s suit. Doesn’t work.

@@PatrickStewart316, I think I could deal with it, if they don't use the names Eric Draven and Shelley Webster...a title like "Gabriel and Abbygale-a Crow Story" would be a more clever choice, so the need to compare it to the 94 film will not be there. But using the original names forces the need to compare it....and in this case, to me, the "the Crow* reboot is another failure in a line of failed reboots (Flatliners, Poltergeist etc.). To be precise:according to the trailer they deleted everything that shrouds the story in mystery, for example showing the land of the dead is oben of the dumbest decisions in the history of screenwriting, also starting the story long before the killing of Eric and Shelley takes a lot. Showing the relationship just in flashbacks and watching Eric emotionally respond to them is one of the great creative choices of the original...and there are many other things beside the look that seem to go terribly wrong. It is not about nostalgia, it's about bad creative choices obviously made in the reboot that make me that angry!
@@andreknippschild1105 very good points all around. The scene that grabbed me in this trailer was the flashback. I am wondering if the scenes we saw were flashbacks or not. And to your point. Using he names Eric and Shelly. Yep. They are forcing the comparison. Hadn’t thought of it that way. I certainly don’t see him as Eric Draven. Just a Crow Story. What does excite me though are the nods to the original graphic novel. The imagery, the vicious revenge catharsis.

Brandons portrayal was a masterpiece however it is OBarrs vision and creation..the same way everybody believed Nicholsons Joker should be retired Ledger and Phoenix proved you can be respectfull and breath life into a character. Brandon is 100% the measuring stick petformance wise but there is always room for others to bring a fresh take and creative spin
Knowing that OBarr and Pressman signed off on this and Skarsgaard brilliance as an actor says we should give it a chance
The John Wick references everyone ha been making is silly. All anyone has to do is revisit the 94 Crow.. youtube "The Crow Top Dollars Place" the gang fight at the hideout, Brandon featured swordplay, guns and hand to hand fighting... can argue Lee was Wick before Wick.. can insert that sequence into any Wick film and it would fit..
Thank god you understand that this is in no way a copy and paste reboot of the original. I don’t understand why people think that this is going to completely tarnish the original. This is its own version of the crow, yes I get people say why use Eric and Julie, my thought on that is why do we keep getting Peter parks spider man why not miles, or any other spider men and or woman that could be the next live action web swinger. Because Peter is the more popular spider man. Yes the costume design is not up to standard but does that mean the movie will be garbage just because of that? I don’t think so a movie can only be considered bad if its story is rushed and all over the place or the actors fall flat. I think this movie will do good cause they only showed action and not much story in the trailer.

Hello, there! I too saw the picture of Bill Skarsgård and immediately thought of Jared Leto's Joker. We know how well being an Academy Award winner aided him in his portrayal of the Joker and Morbius. Thought they were taking the wrong approach. I figured you'd hate it. Now I'm not so sure - that was a hell of a trailer (my frst viewing is with you - didn't even know it had dropped). We know that whole family can act and Bill's good actor but a good trailer plus a good actor does not necessarily a good movie make. Worried but I'll probably throw money at it.

I’ve watched The Crow Trailer 10 times now. It gets better at each view. I am nervous this will still be a dud. The Crow 2: City of Angels was a good trailer. That movie was garbage.

I don’t have any issue with a reimagining of the story. I do care about the new look, although I don’t like it. I don’t mind it being dark and violent (it’s The Crow!).

Totally agree with you guys, when I first saw the picture I wasn't overly happy. But after that trailer, I'm happier and brandon will and always be the crow. But can't wait.
Given what the sequels did, then this looks a little better executed. But the first one will always just have this aura about that decade musically, styling, etc. That will just make it hard to recreate.
Personally it feels a bit like peppermint, wick, salt.

Bill is an amazing actor and that might be the ONLY saving grace. Brandon had other movies. I grew up watching Bruce Lee martial arts films and then Brandon in Showdown In Little Tokyo and Rapid Fire. Bill has had MANY more opportunities than Brandon who was just reaching the peak of his career with The Crow so it is not fair to compare. This "reboot" has NO feeling to it. James O'Barr lost his fiancee to a drunk driving accident and wrote the Eric and Shelly comic to deal with his grief and loss and they make Eric and Shelly drug addicts?? Also, all the wordplay that Brandon portrayed to perfection is gone with just, "yeah, you did". Their deaths, especially Shelly's was horrific and far more brutal in the OG film which would justify a crow bringing him back to set things right. This is watered down fluff. Even the visuals, set, characters in the OG were brilliant and on point. Bill looks like his brother, Gustav as Floki from Vikings than Draven! My birthday is on Devils Night. I've watched The Crow every birthday since 1994. I was 19 when Brandon died while making the film. 1993 was a horrible year both of my childhood crushes, Brandon Lee and River Phoenix died and my childhood best friend since we both were in our mothers' wombs passed from Leukemia. This movie has had a BIG impact on me and I know how it made me feel and so many others. This new one has no heart. It looks like just like any other action flick nowadays. TK whatever her name is, can't act. They look like the villains they fight. The look, the story, the bad guys are rich, corporate looking guys, everything is off. They should've made it Corby. Enough said. I love Bill. The whole Skarsgard family are very talented. They should've made him play any of the character than Eric. Eric didn't have tats, but if they did it, why make stupid, pointless tats? The eye-nip is so tacky. His hair looks like a cross between Dumb and Dumber meets Joe Dirt. It's so NOT my Crow!
My favorite callback to the comics is the lack of white make-up. The only reason he was pale in the comics was the fact he was a corpse.

Awesome reaction fellas 😂 initially i didn't like the trailer as i love the first movie but I've watched the trailer over and over and it's growing on me. I have recently heard something disconcerting though, apparently a good chunk of the movie works on the relationship and he only goes full make up Crow for the last 20 minutes or so😢

Rewatch the trailer, take away the violence because those are cool and well shot. The dialogue is cringe and the people do not have any passion behind their acting. The bad guy has no presence and I love him and everything I’m not saying it’s gonna suck I’m just saying it should’ve been somebody else’s story, not Eric Draven. There are many other crows even women and I’ll just leave you with this we killed you I know, your dead. Well, I say I am dead and I move that is good writing.

This is a modern adaption of the comic and not the original film. They will definitely use inspiration from Brandon Lee and pay homage with a mix from the comics. His mullet is from the comics and unfortunately Post Malone. He has the sword because that was his main weapon from the comic and the final battle in the film. If y'all real fan's y'all should know this. Plus did you not remember the 3 horrible crow movies after Brandon Lee died? This looks 10 times better than those with respect to the source material.

The character of Eric draven isn't a hero, he's a vengeful Spirit who goes after evil people who killed the love of his life and himself. And not for an unselfish reason on behalf of an entire city he's not Batman. Even the writer would you obviously know unless you forgot in this moment, of the comics who mentioned in this video. Wrote the comic books because his girlfriend was killed by a drunk driver and he wanted to delete that drunk driver. And with his morality and not wanting to go to jail. Does this comic the book series was born.

This trailer alone puts all the other sequels to shame in just its few minutes. Only exception is that I think City Of Angels was a proper follow up to the first movie. Salvation was so forgetaable that I wont even give it any credibility at all as a sequel and Wicked Prayer was whiny emo trash to be honest. From what this shows Im in and Im going to see this just like I did the first film and City Of Angels. This will be along with City Of Angels the top two follow ups to the original movie.

I won't see this movie in the least and I am a Crow fan as well. I liked the Crow before the movie. I honestly prefer the book over the movie but I did like the movie as well. That being said, there is nothing that will get me to watch this movie. Just like I will never watch the 2016 Ghostbusters and I was a massive Ghostbusters fan when I was a kid. This movie looks absolutely woke and trashy. Instead of Detroit it looks like San Francisco.
Please, it looks like John Wick with ex addict tattoos... Too much light, it seems like he's here to save her? His death is far too clean. Too much CGI, not enough atmosphere. I find NOTHING of the original graphic novel in here. Yes I'm a huge fan of Proyas movie and O'Barr's work (and I met him too) and for me this??? It's a huge no. It IS NOT Eric Draven. Call him John Wickham and ok it's a new character and story. But this definitely not Eric Draven.

This is HORRIBLE!!!!! I tried to not watch the trailer and even though I feel Bill would pull it off much better than the other suggestions for the remake I have seen through out the years. I absolutely DO NOT like the look of the new look. The appearance alone has ruined it. But they will make money on it because people will want to reluctantly see it to compare it and by then, the film makers will be happy with its attendance. But I won't see it till its on a streaming channel or where I don't have to pay to see it outright. The trailer is extremely disappointing. It hurts my heart. This is nothing more than a vigilante movie who has supernatural powers. Bill does not have the charisma needed to pull this off.
There is too much color. The Gotham City appearance and shadow work like with the original is not there. Even the Crow 2 had better cinema elements for viewing pleasure than this new thing. I really like Bill but this has been ruined. The original had a hard anti-drugs message. The new one casts Eric & Shelly as junkies who escape rehab, go on a drug binge & are eventually murdered. That tells you everything you need to know about what's wrong with the new film. For this remake to turn Eric 180-degrees on that mark is tantamount to blasphemy. The more and more I look at this, the more and more I dislike it. I have a feeling they will ruin the soundtrack too. I saw the original movie 15 times in the theater...I won't even see this one once. If anything, they should have made a movie based on the female character O'Barr wrote about in the same light - not a abhorrent remake of the original cult classic. I'm happy that all of the comments I have been reading are about 80-90% negative.....as I expected they would be.

Wasn’t the reaction I was expecting either. I spent an hour eviscerating everything about this relaunch prior to watching g the trailer. Now I am hopeful. Low expectations given this franchise track record. But hopeful.
