Toyota Corolla Cross AWD Roller / Slip test note: There is no driving mode. At slow speed, the AWD will help you get unstuck, but at over 40-50 kph, we have the feeling that nothing is powering the rear wheels! Also note that the car will get stuck if you turn TCS off because only 2 wheels will receive power depending on the situation, and it's not those with more traction that will spin!
have you ever wondered when doing single tire with grip (eg only front R), if there is a difference if it were the other wheel with grip? eg try it on - only R front, then only L front. as these engines are usually transverse mount, the front wheels are not driven the same like a longitudinal mounted or boxer engine.
The question do you think in your experience The car is worth the price or which do you think would be the best option for a weather with a lot of snow pleeeeeease I need to choose one very soon thanks 🙏🏻
The way they test drive these Toyota Cross in South Africa was way more intense then any other test drive I've seen. They push it to the limit, mud, hill, mounts, brush, almost all off-road! It was impressive. Both were the AWD XLE.
Compared to Toyota's crossovers from even five years ago, this is so much better. They've come a long way, but it has taken them forever to catch up to everyone else.
Wow I'm impressed. I thought you would need the newer TV-AWD system that comes only on selected trims of Rav4 and Highlander, never thought regular awd system on these would succeed.
Ok on flat road and no load but would the rear wheels truly help me if the front wheels slip when I pull, just not the car itself but pull a 1000kg boat trailer up a slippery boat ramp?? Darn! Just realised this is the fairly priced all petrol AWD. Dont think we will ever get it in Sweden, only the expensive hybrid AWD... 😢
I think the Yaris is the one playing a certain part of that role in Europe :( Not sure about the future plan and i dont know if they will put the Corolla Touring Sport on high heels :)
Toyota use 2 different AWD systems on their SUVs. This vehicle has the sub par system call the Dynamic Torque system. The limited trims and higher have the better system called the Dynamic Torque Vectoring system on it. There's a big difference between the two systems.
@@lilpeppa117G no sir. Only Rav4 Adventure, TRD, Limited and Highlander XSE, Limited and Platinum has torque vectoring. I can't be sure but Camry might be having Active torque control awd vs lower grades of Rav4 had dynamic torque control awd.
Correction, Just looked at the specs. Camry got Dynamic Torque Control All -Wheel Drive as well, just like lower grades of Rav4. Which is very different from torque vectoring awd.
These guys get their cars from press pools. That’s a very specific request and they’d have to locate that vehicle and then test it. Problem with that is that it’s a nearly 10 year old vehicle and likely doesn’t perform anything like it was new.
@@Stan_801 So you base the statement purely on the length someone has made something? Terrible attitude, use test and statistics to base your statements.
@@WolfMimirMori I use something better.... Experience, I've had Toyotas for many many years, and then tried Subaru. Toyota has a great engine (only) and their AWD systems and quality of the vehicle itself is cheap. Very cheap. I don't hate on them but if you compare AWD capability they simply don't come close to Subaru.
To each their own, I will not buy a Subaru because I dont want permanent AWD. I want it when needed, in slippery conditions on the roads and preferably also hiways in the winter and going up a boat ramp, thats it. So Subaru AWD isn't better for me.

@@miguelcervantes3950 Yes it is. it's reliable, and similar to the popular Matrix back then. It's not a super performance car, but get's the job done.

Rolling (no pun intended) out the good videos for the rollers/slip test. Keep it up!
Glad you like them!
At 3:12 is when the 3-roller fun starts!
Good driving! It took allot of sterring input to keep it on the rollers.
It's like the old Rav4, at slow speeds the AWD kicks in. A slippery and rainy safety AWD
but don't expect to have fun while sending it :P
It's a Rav4, they just changed the body
Not bad at all! Cheers for another video, mate!
Glad you enjoyed it

TCS is playing the game here, at low speed.
@@CarQuestion why your testing really helps the viewers. A big thank you to you..!!
Can you do similar testing with Corolla Cross Hybrid?
i have a prius, that thing is drive amazing in snow. And it is forward car. Our winters are harsh in Canada. Would not be surprised this will do well.
Have you done Toyota Venza yet ?

Just bought my wife the 22 XLE AWD, not a bad little SUV. She loves it. A bit underpowered IMO.
Yes they should’ve put a v6 in it.
@@angelgjr1999 just get Rav 4
@@tuvilang Rather get the 4Runner
thanks for the video

at slow speed :)
Is this a hybrid car?
Nice, can this be compared to the earlier RAV4's from 2000-2005 that had full rime 4wd with visco/LSD?
Hey Matt ! I switch in English on your English spoken channel. Do you know if this car is expected in Europe, or only in North American market ?
I think the Yaris is the one playing a certain part of that role in Europe :( Not sure about the future plan and i dont know if they will put the Corolla Touring Sport on high heels :)
It is coming to Europe in hybrid only which has an electric awd system, completely different from the one in this video
What drive train and engine/hp does this one have?

That’s for the Rav4, this car only has the DTS system like base ravs.
It was impressive until each rear got called into solo action. Still did very good 👍🏼 it's just a Corolla
yeah, but don't get your hope to high, we have a real world ice test in a hill, word of advice: leave the TCS ON or get stuck :)
Is it normal to have a rumble sound with TCS off? Especially when then feeling comes from your pedals
I have the same model btw
Let me know when the TRD Pro version comes out.
Can you do these test on the Corolla cross hybrid?
Would like to see the comparison of the rear electric system
Yes give us the test with the hybrid please.
Toyota Corolla Cross AWD, but we saw that is not very antislipery driving system. Ahhh.
We want subaru ascent roller test
soon, but for now, it's quiet here in Kébec
Ascent is the only Subaru I’d consider. I’m sure it’d do a very good job at these tests.
What trim is it?
all in the DESC, Model Tested: 2022 Toyota Crolla Cross LE AWD Standard Package Blue Crush Metallic with Black / Cloth interior From $30,879
Maybe the launch gear on the cvt can take the torque
What about the new Yaris Cross i-awd?
We don’t have this car here :(
Unfortunately that tiny rear electric motor on Yaris Cross AWD-i is doing nothing...
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers It adds weight and electronics... So that's... Something?

it slipped to side of the rollers on 3 wheels tests.
Yep Normal if there is power sent at one wheel only in this deep roller test
Is this the same awd system in the rav4 awd le
I can’t say for sure but I’d say no. I’d say RAV’s is better. RAV4 and Camry I believe use same AWD system just different tuning
not exactly the same, and Rav4 has different mode.
