I feel that it's also helpful to be honest with security and say that you have a genuine interest in elevator systems and how they work cuz being like "I'm just riding the elevator" is a little suspicious. If security still mistreats you, then it's definitely a fault on them.
That was very unnecessary for that security guard to follow and yell at you like that. You were complying that you were leaving the garage. so I don’t understand why he needed to act like that. He technically violated your rights when you were on a public sidewalk. And the way he stuck his middle finger up at the end shows how unprofessional he is.
This guard was probably bullied in school and has taken up the security guard position to avenge that by taking it out on harmless people like elevator filmers.
You did the right thing and followed the normal private property busted procedure. The security guard exceeded his authority once he began to follow you. I would find out who owns or manages this facility and contact them and send them this video. He should be immediately fired for what he did to you. You were legally allowed to film him once you entered city property. Threats can be a criminal charge on him too. Allied Universal probably has some of the worst people involved in the company. They have NEVER been friendly to people and harass compliant citizens to a level that doesn't need to happen. It's almost like they want the drama to happen. He even seemed reasonable until you began to leave property.
I have had many bad experiences with allied universal too, got kicked out of a building once because a dude thought I was planting a bomb after I took a picture of their fire alarm annunciator

She said that I need to delete ALL of my RUclips channels or else she could call the police on me… she also thinks that elevator photography is ILLEGAL. 💀😭
He was nice at first. And then he became very rude outside. I don't think they are supposed to have those badges either. He can't harass you in a public parking ramp. I can't believe he did that. He must have gotten bullied in school a lot.

@traction1519 I have never had problems. Filming elevators in Ohio I have gotten permission to film elevators in Ohio. If you try to ask permission and they say yes, you are most likely not running to problems in Ohio, that's just my opinion.
I Got Busted By A Security Guard Just Recently At UP Health Systems Luckily He Was A Pretty Nice Guy He Basically Told Me That I Can’t Be Taking Pictures Or Roaming Around The Hospital The Only Questionable Thing He Did Was Making Me Delete My Video But He Only Did It As A Precaution So The Hospital Doesn’t End Up Getting Sued Other Than That He Was A Sweet Guy & When I Started Panicking He Calmed Me Down & Told Me I Did Nothing Illegal I Just Did Something That I Was Not Supposed To Do Sorry You Got Harassed Dude

Very good strategy! I would just take one ride one elevator and leave and find somewhere else to go. Or just shut the camera off when the doors open
