People are afraid of the unknown and not knowing how to handle the day to day compliance that is required and think they are getting a deal by leasing on with a carrier who takes care of it for them. Just using your January gross numbers as an average for the year, you would be on track to gross 300k this year. If you were leased on to a 75/25% carrier they would receive 75,000 of your money and pay you 225,000. And for what, a little cheaper insurance, a few discounts, and to handle your ifta, my insurance is 12,000 a year and ifta isn’t that hard. Leasing on is a stepping stool when starting out but I have never understood people doing it long term and giving up thousands.
I did it also and let them almost ruin me years ago. Never again. Keep up the good work, I enjoy your videos, I admire that you kept digging till you got to where you want to be. Most will settle where it’s easy.
Hello bro. Great video I have watched majority of your videos. I just got onto you a couple weeks ago. I am at Mercer transportation van and I am really struggling. Did you have someone help you or Coach you to get your own authority? And also, what were your cost related to getting your own authority
I'm going through the process & waiting on fmcsa to process me as active. Got very far but I'm so scared to go out with no trailer. How did you find loads as a new owner-op & power only?
power only loads are easy to find,, DAT and Truckstop are the 2 biggest loadboards out there. your first few months you will run into agents who wont work with new authority but there are plenty out there who will work with you.Landstar and Amazon has plenty of power only to keep you busy through the holidays. My owner op is getting a better rate on power only loads right now than van drivers are getting. its a bad market at the moment but you can still make money
Wow! I can't believe the flatbed freight here was that low of course, I'm on the dry van side of things but my January numbers were absolutely phenomenal even though i didn't leave the house until the 18th. You're doing great for power only! Those numbers are hard to beat. Keep it up brother!
I'm learning a ton about running PO from your videos, and really appreciate it. Might you be able to talk about the less glamorous side of it all: the bookkeeping, paperwork, and organizational side of it?
Great job dude, showing how it’s done, it’s crazy how much more money flows in when you cut them middle men out! Hey, do you have an update with Mercer sending you a bill? I remember you doing a video about them sending a bill and you sent them a bill back, lol Whatever happen with that?
I work at mercer dry van. I can say I've come to this same conclusion. I've been at mercer since 7/21 to present. Once I calculated all my numbers I had to ask myself, why am I giving 25% to lots of deadhead & lower paying freight. To sum it up. MERCERS NOT WORTH IT!

I'm kind of disgusted I leased as long as I did

I did a couple on getting my authority but I can work on doing a vlog on the day to day.

They had some firm calling me for about 2 months but haven't heard anything for a long time now.

I agree, it might offer a few people exactly what they want but overall they are very restrictive as far as choices
You give the most honest no-frlls videos on money in trucking. Oh, and no drama. 👍
Thanks,, much appreciated
