Orangutan Wants My Shorts!!! 🇮🇩

- I set off at 7 am for a trek through the Sumatran Jungle from Bukit Lawang. Along with Borneo, Sumatra is one of only two places in the world where you can find orangutans in their natural habitat.
The trek was organised through my hotel (Wisma Leuser Sibayak) at a rate of 45 euros. This included licensed guide, tracker, national park permits and food.
I usually prefer to go trek alone but it was not possible to do this one without a guide. It was also a 3-person minimum group but luckily I was able to join two ladies from the hotel to make 3.
To get into the jungle we had to pass though a rubber plantation which was interesting, to see how the rubber is slowly harvested from the trees. I drove through countless of rubber and palm oil plantations during my Sumatra trip so it was nice to see one up close and even bump into one of the farmers while he was working.
Orangutans can be difficult to find because they change their sleeping location every night, Each day they build a new nest in the trees.
The first group of orangutans we saw stayed high up in the trees, until the papa got annoyed by the large group of people below and came down to chase us.
It seemed when one group would find some orangutans it wouldn't be long until all the other groups found out and joined.
We were lucky to spot 13 orangutans during the trek Average is 6 or 7 and sometimes only 1 or 0 are found.
The trek lasted 6-7 hours and was fairly easy effort wise, even with my ankle injury from Sri Lanka not fully healed.
Back in Bukit Lawang, the fresh river water was the perfect way to relax after the orangutan trek.

Those orangutans seemed more curious than angry. They didn't scream, show their teeth or flail their arms, they mostly just looked at you. That said, I probably would have run away too :)
yeah we’re supposed to avoid them to show how we respect their territories.
The big problem is that if they grabbed you and take you hostage for treats. A gorilla can let go easily but Orangs are always behave on tv shows are misleading actually.

Norway paid None yet... The commitment is $1B by the Norwegian government for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in Indonesia. it means, if there is still haze, Norway won't pay.
There was haze around august-september 2019 from land fires. so, i bet there's still no money yet from Norway.

I don't like how people are circling them and so close up the orangutans , People should keep a distance and not disturb them.
It situation was unpredictable, cz they (guidnce ) found them in one zone of the jungle when orang utan were meeting each others. They randomly zone.
Maybe u may come to bukit lawang in sumatra n see the orangutans directly n feel d vibes meet them 😀

Once upon a time Bukit Lawang was a place that was visited by both local and foreign tourists, a favorite tourist spot in Sumatra but since the landslide occurred this place became quiet, I last visited this place about 5 years ago, have fun my friends

awesome place to trek.... amazing tour guides (in comparison to india). the urangutans are amazing creatures, its a shame they are displaced from their own natural habitat due to increasing human incursions, but more because palm plantations are claiming their most valued "homes". one urangutan even grab your short.... may wants to try a white banana lol.... entertaining vlogs... stay safe
