I stumbled across a used PM9 at a LGS with a $330 tag. I never shot one before, only handled a Kahr at an LGS. I knew there was something unique in their design. Anyhow, I laid down my money and took the used PM9 home. Well, folks, the PM9 is one very sweet gun. His description in this review is very accurate. Very smooth trigger action, great feel in hand, etc. I added the Mag-Guts spring and follower making it 7+1 plus I added a Pearce grip extension. A Kahr CW45 quickly followed. I acquired a Kimber magazine making the CW45 a 7+1. Highly recommended in any caliber.
I picked this thing up the other day and finally got to shoot it this morning. Im a fairly experienced shooter and i have to say im blown away by the performance. I put a couple mags through it and i was just smiling ear to ear this gun is BADASS! Worth every penny oh and the accuracy from that tiny barrel. I don't know how I slept on this one just wow!
I've pocket carried a PM9 for nearly 20 years, mostly as a backup. It's an excellent high quality pistol. My primary carry gun is a Hk P2000sk LEM. I also have a P9 another great pistol. Great review and thanks for sharing.
I've got a CW9 and a CW40 Kahr pistol and I can say that they both shoot very straight. Very light and compact. Good ccw pistols. My only real gripe is the trigger travel. I would love to shorten that up. Other than that I have no complaints.
Currently living in Northern California and really wanting to buy a Kahr PM9, unfortunately for all of us Californians, it is not on the California DOJ Roster of approved handguns. So. I did the next best thing and bought a Kahr CW9 which is on the roster. I love the CW9 but if we can get rid of the roster I'll add a Kahr PM9 to my collection too!
When it's all said and done, this has been my EDC for several years. Perfect for pocket carry. This is a VERY compact gun! Expensive? Yes. But I look at guns as a lifetime investment. Amortized over a lifetime the cost is negligible. Besides, what is your life worth? Per Kahr, be sure to run at least two hundred rounds through it before considering it reliable. My only complaint is that reassembly is difficult, particularly reinserting the slide stop.
The size of this and it's .380 brother is actually pretty impressive considering how well they function and how small they are. One trick that may help on the reassembly is to do it in two steps. Put the slide on until it is in basically the "in-battery" position and stop, making sure the barrel doesn't slide forward.. Use the slide stop pin to capture the barrel lug (you should see it in position if you look through the hole), push it in about 3/4 of the way (you can let the "arm" part hang down . Then pull back the slide the rest of the way to align the marks and allow the stop to push into final position. This will help with the inevitable fighting with the barrel lug as you pull the slide back and it moves out of place.
I have both the PM9 and the Kel-Tec PF9. I find that the PF9 gets used most of the time. Just like the trigger better and you get one more round. I tried to pocket carry the PM9, but that was a no-go. Thanks for the review!
For me, pocket carrying the PM9 is very practical and effective. It's particularly easy with shorts in my subtropical environment. A little harder to access from jeans pockets. Admittedly, I'd like to lose enough weight for IWB carry or just switch to something like the Sneaky Pete.
Pocket carrying a PM9 is not only possible, but hugely practical. Just be sure you are using an appropriate pocket holster to be safe. Don't be that guy literally just stuffing a gun (with no manual safety no less) in his pocket. Besides, the PM9 is also that much more comfortable for a IWB as small and light are always good. The only concern of course is about limited firing capacity, but the magazines are also small and quick to change, and 99% chance you'll never have to empty the magazine in your life anyway. Just make sure that your shots all count and don't go crazy with a rapid mag dump.
Kel-Tec makes some very interesting guns at rocket bottom prices, but their quality control is piss poor, and certainly not to the standards of Kahr, and this is coming from someone with both. I have a PLR-16 and Sub2000, which I love, but its really obvious its cheap stuff.
You all probably know, Magguts makes plus 1 magazine spring and follower for the stock 6 round magazine and the extended 7 round magazine, adding up to 7+1 and 8+1. Easy to install and reliable as a 'hammer' (!).

very informative vid... i love my PM9 even after all these years, recoil and accuracy still SMOKES the sig p365
I just bought a PM9 and my cousin just picked up the P365, you are saying the PM9 is more accurate?

Nice pistol 👍
Very thorough review. I enjoyed the detailed description of the gun. I have one and this made me appreciate it.
Thank you.

Great video 👍👍

I have the same gun. I love it!
I have a Mag Guts +1 conversion.
I also have a Crimson Trace laser.
I carry mine in a Recluse Pocket Holster.
You do a super job.
+Theodore Mann Thank you.
You are quite amazing with your very thorough descriptions. Just subscribed.
Also, if the chamfer the guide rail I bet it will center itself when you cycle.

Can't believe you would choose a Kel-Tec over a Kahr. I have a CM 9, CW9, & a CW380. All work flawlessly and are excellent concealed carry weapons.

Thank you for the great review! Solid information and still relevant in 2021! Mind if I ask your opinion on the newish PM9 Covert?

That’s a huge bulk inside the pocket lol
glok is a nice comparison, but the Kahr is much safer.
Why did you purchase and add the very nice Talon grip covers and then cover them with the cheap little rubber grip ???????
We do not have Talon grips on this, just that Hogue grip. It is not pretty but it makes the gun comfortable to use for Hammer's larger hands.
