Big supporter of Alex and his reviews. IMO, he should be doing ALL these Supercar shakedowns for Carfection. Entertaining, clear and concise. Nice work.
Love the colour. Cool car. Drove one a months ago here in Hong Kong. Was shocked how quick and tight it was. this thing is really locked in. amazing. Come a long way since the Dino 246, which was the very first Ferrari I ever drove.
Love your vid's. Drove a 488 recently like a perfectly damped lotus Elise/go cart. Very quick but still prefer normally aspirated noise and driving experience
*+ JP & Co. you don't know what u are talking about, turbo sounds wayy better, and I'm getting lambo only when they make the turbo suv, I'm more interested in turbo cars, even from lambo*
That's subjective yet Everyone knows turbos ruins the sound of the engine. Since when did Lamborghini turbo charge their engine? Nor is it likely if they make and suv that it will be turbo charged. Your English is atrocious, your channel is garbage and you're still 12..
i like how more car shows/magazines now also use shots throught the windscreen. I believe i saw it first with the disco volante from good ol' clarkson, and just now in topgear with the GT and now also here on carfection.. i like it.
Saw (and heard it start up) a 458 Spider yesterday. Well specc'd, not red but pearl white with a dark brown cockpit and yellow calipers. I can't say I like the way the 488 looks more. And even if the 488 sounds good it just doesn't sound as good and never will. Saw a 488 Spider in a similar spec to the 458 yesterday (except beige interior). I'd prefer the 458. In the end they're both beautiful but I wish the 458's successor was completely different from the 458, maybe then the switch to turbo would be less dramatic.
NikoBell12 Sure it doesn't sound as good, but LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE about the 488 is a step above the 458; handling, speed, power, torque, aerodynamics, even exhilaration factor despite its gimped sound, all above the 458. Personally, I don't think sound should be so much more important than every other aspect of the car. Also I think it sounds alright, good enough even. I CAN'T take the 458 over the 488 if given the option.
This is not a criticism of this particular 488 video but of all 488 videos on RUclips. That all show the car driven fast down empty roads waxing lyrically about it's grip and the sound of the exhaust etc. Not a single video shows the car as it will most likely be used 60%+ of it's time. Not a single video of it driving through city traffic or even street parking. Dull these things may be but to get the full picture of a car they are things which I feel should be displayed. Plus of course hooning down country roads. Of course !
Mike G You know why Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren don't use manuals anymore? It's because they're outdated and a dual-clutch will spank them everytime. Modern times my friend
+Mbaze Pashtufu That is a giant false dichotomy if I've ever seen it. Maybe if you actually experienced a 488 or something similar you would get it, you can't just make these stupid claims.
Mbaze Pashtufu first of all, the car I drive is a manual, and Ive been driving manual for the last 11 years.. from my Evo 9 to my 335i.. im just tired of hearing the same shit in every video. it is what it is, get the fk over it. Ive had a lot of time in a 430 Scuderia and I never once wished it was stick. but, nice try..
The 458 is one of the prettiest cars of all time. So for me I'd take the 458 but if you're about speed and speed only then the 488 definitely is the right call.
I think you mean dramatic in place of Exhilaration as the 488gtb drives better in every way, it is faster, has more grip and is more exciting to drive. It doesn't sound as dramatic but is a more exhilarating drive.
Performance art. Nice jacket. Aero-generated downforce...read that in the brochure did you? Wondering whether the notion of practicality, seemingly scenting newer Ferrari products, extends to reliability and reasonably-spaced (and priced) service requirements. i.e. can one actually tour in a Ferrari grand tourer?
That's true about crappy McLaren sound. However, I meant Ferrari did a better job overall, not just with the sound. Apparently, this doesn't feel turbo-charged. That's a great thing. The new Porsche engines are laggy for example.
slaWterCH oh no it doesnt feel turbocharged at all, but i would def take faster 0 to 60 than some good sound. I can put a new x pipe on mine anyway to make it sound godly lol
I do prefer the 458 spyder still. I find its design just that bit more elegant due to the lack of intakes and air bridges, etc. To me it is the perfect italian sports car. The name was well chosen: Italia. Regarding your confusion with the indicators: If you hold the button for longer than 0.3 sec you will get 3 flashes only.
The line where the front bumper and trunk(?) lid meet looks unresolved and messy from the front because of the air scoops that aren't visible from that angle.
The thing about this turbo is the 488 limit its output on low rev so its response feels more like a torquey electric car rather than a NA car. But still, losing that 9k revving motor is a let down.
Why does every reviewer say "Is it any good with a turbo?". The F40 did it in the 80's and, is still considered one of the best driver cars ever made. (oh... he did talk about it.) :-)
smaller cc, less fuel consumption, cheaper road tax, really impressively powerful and fast. today, not necessarily bigger cc supercars should be superior.. tq bro.
So when you say no turbo lag. Are you referring to no sensation of spool up? Cause I find it hard to believe you'd be able to sense any sort of turbo lag doing the kind of driving depicted in this video...
488 is incredible but Alex is even more so. The way he finishes is just phenomenal.
That’s what she said
Pause
Big supporter of Alex and his reviews. IMO, he should be doing ALL these Supercar shakedowns for Carfection. Entertaining, clear and concise. Nice work.
Production quality of this channel is as good as the looks of the 488, great job guys.
Mattia T Hello. 怎么与你联系 ?
pretty nice coat as well
Beautiful. As popular as red may be when it comes to Ferrari, this blue looks so good on the 488.
You guys are making, now, the best car reviews on the internet.
I'm now convinced you're only allowed to have convertibles when the weather is crap, this is a carfection theme
The spec on this model is absolutely gorgeous
A Ferrari 458 is my dream car also this is the best car review channel on RUclips
This man puts up the best car videos with immense focus on attention to detail. I'm will be a strong subscriber till the end.
Absolutely gorgeous. The sheer joy on Alex's face tells the whole story.
One of my favorite channels. Great job. I love your introductions and your storylines
This channel makes some truly spectacular content. Kudos
n/a over turbos all day..
also i have to say, Alex is one of the best car reviewers out there!
Love the colour. Cool car. Drove one a months ago here in Hong Kong. Was shocked how quick and tight it was. this thing is really locked in. amazing. Come a long way since the Dino 246, which was the very first Ferrari I ever drove.
I love your reviews. You guys really do love cars and it shows.
Love your vid's. Drove a 488 recently like a perfectly damped lotus Elise/go cart. Very quick but still prefer normally aspirated noise and driving experience
Epic camera work! Made me fall in love with the 488! Would I choose this over a 458 Italia? I don't know. But I do love the 488 for sure.
Del boy called. He wants his jacket back Alex.
The voice recognition won't work because you didn't make enough gestures when you talked....
Ayyyyy I said where's the nearest bagel store you stupid car, I'm going to deliver my mommas famous lasagne its mwah
SaLAD wtf hahah you're hilarious 😂
Christopher Jenkins
S G sounds more Boston than Italian
Excellent review! This guy should be in top gear!!!
I think I may like the 458 just a little better, but I wouldn't turn either down!
Same haha
*+ JP & Co. you don't know what u are talking about, turbo sounds wayy better, and I'm getting lambo only when they make the turbo suv, I'm more interested in turbo cars, even from lambo*
^ He is 12 btw
Club Bmw Amg why the bold
That's subjective yet Everyone knows turbos ruins the sound of the engine. Since when did Lamborghini turbo charge their engine? Nor is it likely if they make and suv that it will be turbo charged. Your English is atrocious, your channel is garbage and you're still 12..
As always, great job on the video. Beautiful spec on the 488. Also really like your jacket. Where'd you get it?
I can tell you are experiencing bliss. This is a superlative review well done son.
The intro had a powerful message. Wow.
Poetic as always
Top 3 channels on RUclips, hands down!
i like how more car shows/magazines now also use shots throught the windscreen. I believe i saw it first with the disco volante from good ol' clarkson, and just now in topgear with the GT and now also here on carfection.. i like it.
Poignant and tastefully done. Bravo
I loved your love of literacy and Ferrari!
Things like quoting Chuck Palahniuk and relating it to cars is what sets this car channel apart from others, and why I watch. Cheers.
Saw (and heard it start up) a 458 Spider yesterday. Well specc'd, not red but pearl white with a dark brown cockpit and yellow calipers. I can't say I like the way the 488 looks more. I hear you. The 458 is my dream Ferrari (when not thinking about the high end ones), although the 488 looks stunning in blue.
Raritytuber Same. I'd take a 458 over the 488 any day.
NikoBell12 Sure it doesn't sound as good, but LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE about the 488 is a step above the 458; handling, speed, power, torque, aerodynamics, even exhilaration factor despite its gimped sound, all above the 458. I CAN'T take the 458 over the 488 if given the option.
That last quote....amazing
Nice to see you back.

If Mat, Alex and DriveTribe team come together, it will be whole new level of savage!
the best part is the oh-so-coveted roll back opportunity!
What an incredible shade of blue. Wow.
You've got a great taste in literature, Alex. Nice review also! Keep on the good work!
488>458 anyday.
and finally someone who wasnt blabbing about manual transmissions.. thank you!
nice review.
I doubt anyone would characterize the 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale as "soft".
Mike G You know why Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren don't use manuals anymore? It's because they're outdated and a dual-clutch will spank them everytime. Modern times my friend
Anthony DeLuca why is it always about fast? It is the experience that only counts, and manuals will always have the best.
+Mbaze Pashtufu That is a giant false dichotomy if I've ever seen it. Maybe if you actually experienced a 488 or something similar you would get it, you can't just make these stupid claims.
Mbaze Pashtufu first of all, the car I drive is a manual, and Ive been driving manual for the last 11 years.. from my Evo 9 to my 335i.. im just tired of hearing the same shit in every video.

but, nice try..
this man is like a fucking Shakespeare of the car channels love the way he talks about cars haha goddamn poet
Wow I'm loving that blue :) looks so good !!
Now that everything is becoming turbocharged and automatic I truly believe we have passed the peak of automotive joy
Yay! Mr Goy's back! Bounce around the room happy!
"Wondering if your life's going in the right direction," says the guy standing next to a convertible Ferrari
I love the quality in this !! Its amazing !
Great review of a great car. Predicting that Ferrari values between the 458 and 488 will not suffer like the 911 has between the air cooled and 996.
*Does this one come with the optional, "Roll your miles back" feature?*
Alex is a brilliant journalist! Can you guys get your hands on the ragera and let him do it?
The 458 is one of the prettiest cars of all time. So for me I'd take the 458 but if you're about speed and speed only then the 488 definitely is the right call.
you look cold af mate, jus put the top up!
Love the Chuck Palahnuik reference.
noticeably difference in 458 and 488 sound........ 458 sounds wayyyy better.
Marcus Theus hey it still sounds good let's appreciate the work they did on the sound
Marcus Theus look at mclaren they use turbos and they sound awful and horrible
Soulx CrusherX sorry Ferrari fan, the 488 doesn't sound anywhere close to as good as something like the p1
Clous von dude are you for real how dare you compare a p1 to a 488😂😂😂😂 dude i meant the base mclaren's
You can fanboy about McLaren as much as you want but they all sound SHIT
You started off and finished with some wild quotes.
Love this guy
One of nicest looking Ferraris
Looks: 488
Sound/Exhilaration: 458
IMO 458 looks way better
*+ ProjectGenesis you have to put straight pipes on the 488 and you will piss yourself, because u will be scared*
488 looks fresher but imo i prefer the smoother lines of the 458
Agreed, same here. I feel like the 488 would just have to rev a couple hundred rpm higher for me to love it tho.
I think you mean dramatic in place of Exhilaration as the 488gtb drives better in every way, it is faster, has more grip and is more exciting to drive. It doesn't sound as dramatic but is a more exhilarating drive.
"...now it's a good opportunity to listen to some noise" [cranks up headset volume]
The 488 is knockout gorgeous! My favorite Ferrari!
That blue. So beautiful.
Great review -- and I think the new engine sounds better than the last N/A version. It never was a great sounding engine anyway.
My favourite channel 💪🏼
incredible machine, fantastic review....
I'm a Lamborghini guy from the start but if I were getting an open-top mid-level super car, it would be the 488.
Guys, it doesn't sound bad at all. I think you should hear the sound in person. TOTALLY different experience.
sounds like an A45 AMG because well.. it's basically the same, just with half the cylinders
What you on about? They're both v8? lol
Nice weather, again.
488: looks
458: sound
Is it quicker than the PDK gearbox?
I hate turbos, really hate them. But Ferrari did a better job then the rest.
Still, I'd take the sound. Cars are fast enough and numbers are boring.
slaWterCH the p1 sounds better , but now McLaren uses a different exhaust system now and they sound like crap
*than
slaWterCH this is one of the best comments I've honestly ever seen.
"Cars are already fast enough and numbers are boring." spot on my brother👌
I want that jacket!
OK, great Ferrari, great film... Why didn't You drive the Chiron Sir? That film was missing only You in it. Best regards!
Love, they have a name and the name is Ferrari. -Alex
spot on
I love this Blue Ferrari!!!! It's a dream!!!! Maybe one day!!!!🤤
I'm from Brazil and here is so expensive. Maybe 1million dollars!!!😭
I believe you managed to find the most depressing place in the world to record this video ..
Bad weather
Fucking shit place to do a convertible review
Johan Wiberg Welcome to the UK mate
He was in Wales, what were you expecting?
Horrible place... brown under your feet, grey above your head, and rain between them
I do prefer the 458 spyder still. I find its design just that bit more elegant due to the lack of intakes and air bridges, etc. To me it is the perfect italian sports car. The name was well chosen: Italia.
Regarding your confusion with the indicators: If you hold the button for longer than 0.3 sec you will get 3 flashes only.
Totally awesome video!!!!!
Damn good review!
Thank you! 🙏
this is what dreams are made of!
The line where the front bumper and trunk(?) lid meet looks unresolved and messy from the front because of the air scoops that aren't visible from that angle.
looks exactly like hitman!!
lol look at the RR vid he did a few weeks ago, even more so
The car?
My dream Ferrari 💙
Ferrari doing what they do best! Bravo Ferrari!
Did anyone notice that both the 458 spider and 488 spider had the same registration plate "S8 FNE"?
The thing about this turbo is the 488 limit its output on low rev so its response feels more like a torquey electric car rather than a NA car. But still, losing that 9k revving motor is a let down.
Great review, brilliant car!
Why does every reviewer say "Is it any good with a turbo?". The F40 did it in the 80's and, is still considered one of the best driver cars ever made. (oh... he did talk about it.) :-)
Alex, Alex, Alex . . . nice jacket bro!! Oh yeah, the car, dude it's a FERRARI, duh
Great review.
So basically just like the 911, the turbos didn't dent the sound too too much. Not as visceral but same sound and patterns with same pitch
Turn Indicators = HOLD for 3 blinks. TOUCH for constant on. Easy if you're not an idiot :) Smart if you think about it.
The spider is great but would probably go for the coupe in the UK.
smaller cc, less fuel consumption, cheaper road tax, really impressively powerful and fast. today, not necessarily bigger cc supercars should be superior.. tq bro.
The 458 had bendable moustache at the front........😂😂😂✌
So when you say no turbo lag. Are you referring to no sensation of spool up? Cause I find it hard to believe you'd be able to sense any sort of turbo lag doing the kind of driving depicted in this video...
Most journos have said they can't sense turbo lag in this car.
When i think Ferrari a Testerossa comes to mind first not the f40.
Its always pissing rain in their videos lol
Wow amazing video!!!
That's a nice jacket
