I love seeing Chris being able to review and drive Ferrari's again because you can see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice how much he truly loves and has such a passion for their cars. I remember when the 458 came out (wow that was seriously 6 years ago..) and watching videos on it and hearing everything say "How can you top this?" Well after watching Chris drive this around, I can say they've done the impossible. Ferrari is the way they are with their sometimes ridiculous rules and testing restrictions because they honest to God do make the greatest cars...(wait for it) IN THE WORLD.
TheCarVlogger the problem is he can have as much passion as he wants but cant say what he wants about the car. just like the 458 he loved it and just said one bad thing a bam got banned from reviewing them.
im pretty sure he got banned because he said something bad on the video probably it has been a while since he made that video. all i know is you can not say anything bad about a ferrari or you get banned from reviewing it
thesulo12 he got banned because of the article about Ferrari cheating on tests. They always bring modified cars to press tests in order to inflate their acceleration and track times, they also send engineers to prepare the car for each track before they the journalists can lap them.
What an absolutely delightful way to review a Ferrari! No shouting, no heavy metal music, no sarcastic English nonsense , no driver grimaces, just the facts and a feast for the eyes and ears, bravo!
I don't get people. It sounds very similar to a 458, it's more powerful, it has more torque aka more usable on the road, acceleration is still linear, it's more fuel efficient, it's still very responsive, etc, unless you prefer the 458 look, why do people miss the old car? It's funny because I've realized there is always someone complaining about turbo charging just to complain.
LuWeiHuang More torque at and above 3.000rpm, probably not the range you use on the road or in the city. Other than that, turbochargers make a car harder to take care of. And since when people who own a Ferrari are interested in fuel efficiency? ;)
LuWeiHuang I would still have this over the competition, but I would rather have a 458. Here's why: I think the 458 looks better. I think it sounds better. I don't care about 0-60 or power much at all, so the 458 would have more than enough power for me. Also, the appeal of a naturally aspirated engine is not just bullshit. The sound and the instant power delivery are really important. I don't have a Ferrari, but I do own a car with a high-pressure turbo and know the struggles of such a car.
Absolutely astonishing car! I love it so much! It's just so gorgeous and the performance is simply mindblowing. The 458 was and still is an undoubtedly brilliant car in every way, but I would honestly prefer the 488. As great and beautiful as the 458 is, the 488 is definitely a step forward. Bravo Ferrari!!!

Magnus Bekkengen Clarkson just sold his. You missed an opportunity to buy one of the ultimate tyre disposal machines available. I'll never own an AMG black because I know I wouldn't want to buy a new set of rears at least once a week.
Can't wait to see how this compares to the 675LT, which will no doubt be another beast. Last gen was all about the NA 458 vs the Turbo 12C, and now we can see how Ferrari's new tech stacks up to the already established turbo tech from the blokes at Woking. Great vid as usual, Chris. ^-^
Oh yeah, I guess the LT will be going up against whatever the 488's Speciale version would be then. But the 650S is quite old by now though, maybe there will be another little update to it... not that it needs to be any faster than it already is. xD
Well, it is more than a year old by now. The way supercars are progressing IMO 1 year is a lifetime. It still is at its core an upgraded and well fiddled 12C with better calibration work done to it, so in that regard it is a bit dated. And the 650S makes the 12C feel ancient according to Chris and they are not even that different. Just like the 488 to 650S, timeline wise the 650S and 12C are not that far apart either. :D

One of my favorite aspects of videos like this, is watching the test drivers. It never ceases to amaze me how casual they typically look, while driving a car that would make the rest of the world scream in panic! Looking over at Chris, carrying on a conversation as if he's on a road trip to see his mother. Fascinating.
That point when you like Chris's videos before even playing them because you know its going to be great. Another sensational video Chris, loved every moment.
***** Why do more people prefer the Lamborghini Gallardo/Huracan or the Ferrari 458 over the Corvette Z06? Because the paint jobs alone is more than the entire interior of a Z06. Ferrari/Lamborghini is the major leagues and the Z06 is AA ball
Mr Harris, well done again! This is car journalism!! Test the car dynamically, saying everything necessary and nothing else! Seriously, you, sir, are my role model!!! Now, to the chase; I don't know if any Ferrari engineers were involved in the sound editing (I've heard some Autocar-sourced rumours!), but the 488 sounds very good!! I honestly wasn't hoping much, because I can't forget the screaming naturally aspirated V8s of the past, but yes, it sounds as good as the California T's counterpart! I just had to look to the past even more deeply to remember the F40 and 288-GTO! They had two turbos but they sounded exquisite!!! Yes, the 488-GTB turns to turbo for reasons of environmental protection, but I think you have to look to your past respectfully in order to step to the furure with confidence!
I have no words...I was nearly in tears of joy towards the end of this drive review due to sheer beauty of this machine being appreciated on such a distinct level. Just wow! I want badly
Eh, the 458 is massively better looking. The 488s front end is... well... I don't know, the 2 front fang looking things really put it off for me. Same goes for the back end. The side profile is quite good though, I will give it that.
MrGovenator1 Perhaps it's an age thing. I'm old, 53 now. When I was a kid, Ferrari made the most jaw-droppingly beautiful things. Then some place in the '90s they sort of lost their way a little. But the LaF and the 488 bring us back to the point where Ferrari make unquestionably the best looking cars in the world. And this does answer some questions for me. It does go and handle every bit as good as a 458, but it's better looking, and it's faster. And it has a very broad envelope, it's not just a track car. There are only two cars in the world I might want more, and one is big brother LaF, the other is a Huayra. Both are more like two mill than one. This really is a masterpiece.
+Leopard95 So do i, although i never thought i'd say that. It goes like hell, it's got a good sound (that was the worry) and it looks great. When i looked at the photos of it i was really impressed,it's got a kind of muscular look to it. I want one!
+Leopard95 With the 458 i thought wow! where do they go from here ,but they've done it again. There are so many great, really great ,cars now from Ferrari,Mclaren, Porsche etc.How can they keep improving?
Much better than the Autocar review I just watched. The 488 GTB will without a doubt sell just as well if not more than the Huracan & 650S. But visually this car isn't as striking as the Speciale. Hopefully when the hardcore version comes out it will be more aggressive.
Didn't think it was possible to make a better looking supercar than the 458 (F Type as well for GTs)....but while similar....this GTB looks even better to me! Amazing machine!
I have got one - and it really is truly amazing - and he's right about 3rd gear - you floor it and hold onto your hat, because the next corner is arriving way way sooner than you expected - on the road you cant get anywhere near its limits - best to put it in Sport and leave it there - you'll still be so glad that you arrived home in one piece !
Chris Harris on Cars ... the only channel i let the full advert run at the start of the video without pressing skip because i actually want chris to get full money for it haha... keep up to good work! Best car reviewer on earth by a country mile!!!
Even though I will never be convinced by your urge to sliding around every single car, what a great review ! the first and probably the best of its kind... Thank you
***** i really like the back end, the detail on the headlights look really well in my opinion, but the front looks like a cheap version of the LaF, they misse big time on the front design (at least for me, but my opinion is irrelevant since i'll never get one ahaha)
I'm a very analytical person, and am very good at pinpointing what makes something "good", and what makes something "bad", this is really useful in my line of work as it makes for quick and efficient improvements. I tend to also apply this to my daily life, which is very useful for cooking, but can be a bit frustrating when watching a movie and knowing exactly how it could have been better. However your videos are one of those rare things where I just have to say that they have a certain "je ne sais quoi", I don't know what it is, but I do know I wouldn't change a thing for fear of ruining it. Keep up the awesome work Chris.
I work at Ferrari, Maranello. In my lunchbreak last week, around two, I cycled up the hills, I saw Chris in this 488GTB! I didnt realise it was him, untill I saw this video! Too bad I'm not on this film. Good one again, by the way! thanks! I always enjoy your reviews
Alex Zevallos yeah, that's how you know it's a proper ferrari. they always fuck up the small things.:D I love my 430 to death, but man i hate it sometimes. I can't listen to music while using the GPS. How fucked up is that? (the navigation and mp3 player software are on different CF memory cards and you can only use one at a time). :D
the huayra is limited edition and it costs 5x, the turbos sound like an airplane (i hate that sound) this is a V8 turbo that sounds like a V8 aspirated
Chris Harris, the man for the best reviews of the best cars. Ive been reading CAR mags and the rest since the days of LJK Setright RIP when I was 7y.o. Inc the infamous articles of the Japanese taxi the R32 Nissan Gtr. Long live the King Harris!
With performance as bonkers as the 488, I couldn't possibly care less about numbers. Too many so-called car fans are obsessed with competition between cars or brands, or being committed to a certain brand, instead of just appreciating the capability of these amazing cars. It's so irritating!
He is one of the best test drivers I've seen. Not from a driving perspective (I'm sure hes one of the best) but from the passion you can tell he has for the car. I believed every single word he said.
That overhead shot, around 9 mins... Just great cinematography. Not to mention the rest of the video... which is surely worth mentioning. Fantastic camera control and editing.
Another great review from Chris Harris. Probably the best job ever. As for the car.....for me this Ferrari 488 GTB is the best looking Ferrari since the 355. Makes me wish I'd tried harder at school, because sadly I'll never be able to afford one of these myself.
I've watched this twice a day since its release. You're clearly putting my Patreon donation to good work, beautiful piece of film Chris and Neil, just wow.
Precisely. The mid-engined V8 is now the driver's Ferrari. The enthusiast's Ferrari is still the F12 and the poser's Ferrari is still the California. And of course, for the consumate Ferrari consumer, there is the Laferrari.
yet strangely, they sell the fewest V12's. I completely agree. Aside from the 599 and FF, there hasn't been a bad V12 in Ferrari's stable since the 512bb. Probably, it's the price. In any case, the V12's will always be the best Ferraris.
flyingphoenix113 Why would the California be a posers car? Maybe someone wants a comfortable and slightly relaxed GT car and not a hard core track car?
Turbo charging this smaller (3.9 vs 4.5 liters) engine yields another 100hp, but even more importantly, another 160 lb/ft of torque. I'll take those turbos any day of the week. Those poor rear tires.
Interesting point about whether it's special enough to be occasional sport ride. Certainly fast enough but I would personally probably go for the crazier option: lime green Lambo Huracan. Wealthy people really are spoiled for choice these days which is brilliant. Also is it just me or there is a bit of Huracan about the front end of 488?
***** imo, the Huracan seems so boring theres nothing new to it and has less soul(if you could say that) 488 seems much more intricate and spikes my interest in a way Lambo never have. Though im not going to be owning any of these anytime soon so i dont have a say in it.
SilverArrow WilliamsMartini That back end looks like an 80ies classic. The Fezza looks like they copied an F1 car. It makes it look like a cheap japanese shit. If i'm completely honest, since the 360 Modena, this specific line has been going downhill in looks with every new car.
Mike Lyon You buy a La Ferrari only because you can.lol People that buy them do not have to worry about the cost. It is not even a second thought for them. You are talking about a totally different league of wealth. So they can buy it and your condo your 488 and the GT3 RS and still not even flinch at it.
givemeajackson agreed. It's a legendary car, fit for a legendary name, they should have called it the GTO, like they do every 25 years or so for some impeccably special car. Oh wait, they spoiled the opportunity to use that name on that modified Ferrari 599 that no one's going to remember, why'd they do that?
Vega Rapidus I suspect the modern day Ferrari rulebook claims a much too civilized and sophisticated character from a car so that a modern Ferrari could never replicate the F40 in a decent way. Maybe the stripped out track version of the 488 could come closer, but the F40 was simply an animal, like a kit car made only for track days but not with a 130 bph Ford engine off the shelf but with at least twice the power of the contemporary sports cars from the 80s. Imagine today a Ferrari LaFerrari without all the electronic driver aids, no ABS, no stability control, manual gearshift...a wild animal on wheels.
KlausM54 I agree with you... and I will have an animal if I m honest. Cars are becoming too boring these days to me. And a tribute to continue the legacy of the F40 will be really cool!
KlausM54 F40 was a very simple track monster. Just look at the wheels and that massive wing. This car is at first a sports car for road use, and occasional track use. It has to be fast but also usable daily and not harsh as F40 was. Even LaF is a usable sports car, meaning you can choose the softer setting to enjoy it on all kind of roads. Now a days customers demand this kind of sports cars. They don't want a bare minimum car anymore, not for these kind of prices. And there are a lot better and cheaper track focused cars now a days that did not exist back then. After all, 40 years have passed since F40. Today the closest Ferrari to F40 is the XX cars.
Vega Rapidus the only car comparable with a F40 in this days is the Lambo Sesto Elemento, completely barebone and very light, the big difference is about the carbon and titanium.
I so enjoy Chris' assessment of vehicles. What I got from this video is that this 488 is basically an F40 on steroids, with all kinds of modern electronics but without a wing. I can't wait to drive one.
It looks prettier, and it drives just as well, if not better, not to mention that because of better fuel-economy I don't have to stop hooning as often for fuel as the 458.
DimensiiioN And you'll never drive any of them to be able to tell that. I love how the more clueless someone is, the faster he jumps into a conclusion and just brands something as better or worse despite having zero experience with it. Give this car a chance, will you?
***** Since 458 everybody else have been 2 or 3 steps behind Ferrari and it has got even worse with Speciale, LaFerrari and now 488. The anger of continuously being nr 2 is simply too much to bear for a lot of fans of other brands. We should have sympathy with them. It helps me to understand all the false rumors and hate.
I think Ferrari should follow Porsche and stop this horse power madness.Because ten years from now with this level of increasing they will hit 1000 bhp!. They should stop chasing number and concentrate on better driving experience plus less weight and better fuel consumption. we all love power but there is a line and exceeding that line will make the car pretty much undriveable .
But that's the beauty of progress and engineering. The systems have made what would be an UN-useable amount of power in the past reachable by normal drivers and EVEN better for good drivers. There is no down side to this progress unless you crave backward tech like all the Porsche boys who have got themselves stuck in the manual gear change cul-de-sac... Doctor bring back the leeches !!
djphineart ''crave backward tech'' 918 nuff said, explain how the 918 is ''backwards'' when it's the fastest road legal car around the nurburgring despite being pretty heavy, pretty sure that achievement is FAR from being ''backwards''. ''got themselves stuck in the manual gear change'' Ever heard of the Porsche PDK gearbox? LOOL In what way is porsche ''backwards'', you know nothing, just check out the latest GT3 RS that Chris has reviewed lately.
osamaFXX Um... that's what they're doing. High quality car companies, like Ferrari or Porsche, are able to chase numbers but keep up with the quality of engineering as well, and keep up to the power with the development of the entire car. Low quality performance cars, like Corvettes, Camaros, Challengers, Mustangs, etc. pump up the power to insane levels without being able to properly engineer the car to make full use of it or to make the entire car feel like a proper package anywhere near a level of Ferrari for example, that's why they're so cheap in the first place. I mean...a Challenger can have 700hp, the same as a F12 or Aventador. That is ridiculous, because those cars are not even in the same galaxy, let alone on the same planet in any way objective or subjective. Everyone nowadays can pump up the power....I know a guy who drives a Golf 2 GTI with 800hp, and he wins drag races against any new supercar pretty much. But the car is a piece of shit to drive, every time you press the throttle more than 30% on anything other than a flat airfield you're basically committing suicide, it's incredibly unrefined, throttle response is so unlinear it feels like the engine has a mind of it's own, and he has to service it every 1000 km's otherwise the thing would fall apart. I'd rather have a stock Golf 2 GTI that is much slower, because the package is better. Ferrari is one of the rare car brands that can raise the power of their cars without making them feel too powerful or like the rest of the package can't follow. They truly have the best engineers in the automotive world. Praise to Germans, Brits and Japanese, but Italians just make the best supercars.
***** considering many of the styling cues for this car are designed only for aero whereas the 458 was styled with passion. Show me a bad angle on the 458?
All Ferraris lately are ugly. The Laferrari and 458 Speciale are the only visually pleasing ones. The F12 also looks good but only when it has a N-Largo kit.
Chris when i see in my subscription box a new video from you and your team i just sit back in my sofa, take some snacks and enjoy. Thanks for making my day. Please continue to be the best in the business of car reviews
KHD Funny you should say that, but try to find one car reviewer who ever liked any Mclaren over the Ferrari. 458 was universally considered better than a Mp4-12C, 458 Speciale better than 650S and pretty much everyone prefers the La Ferrari over the P1. And by everyone, I mean mostly British car reviewers. And you know Ferrari is better when brits prefer them to british cars.
karlmalone11 Basing it on it being over 300 lb heavier and only 0.5 seconds faster at fiorano than the speciale. Just for background, Chris Goodwin was putting in 2'34 laptimes at Spa in the 675LT while datalogging and with passenger.
Shadowboost You sound cocky for someone who has never been in the same time zone with one of these cars. Not to mention you probably have absolutely zero experience with any car that can remotely be called a performance car, let alone a supercar like 675 or 488.
One day.
Mumbo Jumbo No, some other day.
Mumbo Jumbo what a magnificent machine
Mumbo Jumbo I love your videos
Mumbo Jumbo Pfft fuck that, McLaren baby.
Necrodox The clinical anti-sceptic car?

TheCarVlogger the problem is he can have as much passion as he wants but cant say what he wants about the car. just like the 458 he loved it and just said one bad thing a bam got banned from reviewing them.
thesulo12 No, I think he got banned because of that article he wrote.

pure beauty. i never thought Ferrari could design a car more beautiful than the 458...but they did. spectacular

Simple answer; people hate change.
What car do you drive?
LuWeiHuang More torque at and above 3.000rpm, probably not the range you use on the road or in the city. Other than that, turbochargers make a car harder to take care of.
And since when people who own a Ferrari are interested in fuel efficiency? ;)
Tim Kunert 7 year unlimited mileage warranty and 488 is better looking imo
LuWeiHuang I would still have this over the competition, but I would rather have a 458. Here's why: I think the 458 looks better. I think it sounds better. I don't care about 0-60 or power much at all, so the 458 would have more than enough power for me. Also, the appeal of a naturally aspirated engine is not just bullshit. I've no words to describe my personal admiration for De Simone... Congrats to Chris Harris for the great video and professionality.
6:16 The glove compartment pops open LOL!!
***** Yeah I noticed that too. This means it is a proper Ferrari. Just needs to catch on fire now.
MrLalasd Haters gonna hate
Malleus Maleficarum you can't afford it, no need to defend it ;)
***** It's like that little interior metal piece in Chris' FF, it ain't a Ferrari until something on the inside goes awry.
Nice catch... That's amusing.
Absolutely astonishing car! I love it so much! It's just so gorgeous and the performance is simply mindblowing. +better looking then 458
+faster then 458
+lighter then 458
+better handling then 458
-sound is worse then 458
Conclusion: still not affordable
Aleks N'Drangheta i prefer a faster and less noisy car to a less powerfull car with a better noise. 488>458
*than
+Aleks N'Drangheta Better looking, are you blind ?? :P
And still it will not be faster than the NIsmo GTR.
$300,000.00 and still can't beat a Nissan ???????????????????
+Muhammed Roshan I've seen of one these on the street...it actually looks better than 458
This man is a natural presenter. I soak up his spoken info in videos, he provides a constant relay that never seems to become tiresome nor arrogant, remains piercingly relevant. Its about the car, not him. Just brilliant.
MORE !!!
I'd still take a 458, simply because of the looks. And honestly, I just like the idea of a naturally aspirated engine.
Skyhunter well, hurry up. they'll probably go up in price, just like the manual GT3 when the current one was released.
When the 458 came out, i was looking for a manual 430 (the last manual ferrari). Guess what? Here they were almost double the price of an automatic 430.
DGRWPF
True, but then again, I'm 17 and it was more of a "if-I-had-the-money" thing :D
+Skyhunter You'll take whatever they give you.
Massive fan of Chris but can we just take a moment to realise some of the amazing camera shots from Neil. The bloke is really talented and in my opinion these two together make the best car vids out there.
Chris: " is this faster than an f12 ??? " Test Driver: " it's really really fast "
what an answer
Regan Yeung he can't say "yes" when today the F12 is a most expensive and the "top of the line" model compared to the 488...anyway they already work on a "special" version of the F12 based on LAF NA V12 (but without "electric boost"...)
yeah i know... its just hilarious how they dodge that
Regan Yeung lol - I was thinking the same thing.
I almost posted this exact comment until I ran across your post. Funniest part of this video IMO! Excellent review by Chris Harris...more please>
Ale55andr082 The F12 already has the same NA V12 engine as the LaFerrari.
"Umm" LOL, you can tell this car literally left him almost speechless! Ferrari just did it again....Beautiful.
Great video as allays. This tops other big TV shows by a mile. This is car journalism at is best. Cant wait for the 24 hour Nürburgring video I'm so curios about it. This car is phenomenal. Well its a Ferrari what else would it be. Cheers! :)
I would rather have something like a new Mercedes black, that is what i want to see. loved those cars, wish i own one some day:)
Magnus Bekkengen Clarkson just sold his. You missed an opportunity to buy one of the ultimate tyre disposal machines available. I'll never own an AMG black because I know I wouldn't want to buy a new set of rears at least once a week.
I need a video just about the engineering, design and aerodynamics of this car. It looks amazing!
Roshan Torcy The 488 GTB rivals is 650S, not 675LT
Oh yeah, I guess the LT will be going up against whatever the 488's Speciale version would be then. But the 650S is quite old by now though, maybe there will be another little update to it... not that it needs to be any faster than it already is. xD
Roshan Torcy 650S is quite old by now? But it was announced in February 2014 as a new model!
Roshan Torcy You are McLaren fanboy, right?
I donated $2 dollar every month to Chris via Patreon and I have to say, it is money well spent. Sometimes I am amazed at Chris and Neil and their ability to push out quality content over it's competitor. Good job Chris and Neil!
Sounds more like a 650S than 458 to me. Definitively more muted than the 458.
ahpadt Especially at 11:06. Close your eyes, and both cars might be hard to tell apart.
ahpadt I think the 458 was raspier up top.
The Maclaren 650 doesn't sound very good IMHO. Porsche and Ferrari do a better job in the sound department.
ahpadt Well it is turbo charged so no wonder
T's strange that he would say it sounds like a 458 when to so many of us it absolutely doesn't. Did he finally sell out to Ferrari?
inchskater Listen to this 488 GTB from outside.. absolutely SHIT sound. Terrible. No way like a 458 and especially not like F430
One of my favorite aspects of videos like this, is watching the test drivers. It never ceases to amaze me how casual they typically look, while driving a car that would make the rest of the world scream in panic! Looking over at Chris, carrying on a conversation as if he's on a road trip to see his mother. Fascinating.
every time i see chris harris uploaded a video, i drop what i'm doing and watch lol
That point when you like Chris's videos before even playing them because you know its going to be great. Another sensational video Chris, loved every moment.
Amazing car, it is way better looking than the 458. This will eat Huracan for breakfast.
***** you mean Veneno > LaFerrari ROFL LMAO :))))
***** You spend as much as 3.4 million pounds for "better looking" LMAO
***** Ahhahhahah Z06 faster than 458 ahahahahahhahahaha
*****
Chris Harris + new Ferrari? 50 FPS??
My body is ready...
MrGovenator1 i did not like the back end of the 458 at all. 488 much better looking :)
thealeksanderh Obviously everything I said was subjective, to each their own.
I think the 488 looks better all around
MrGovenator1 I'm with you on the "fangs" but I'll take that any day over the 458's stupid mustache grill.
Chris never change and never stop making these videos, please. You are literally the best and it is just solely based on your personality. Keep it up.
Im gonna say it... I prefer it to a 458.
Nope
12345qwert911 Yes
+Leopard95 So do i, although i never thought i'd say that. It goes like hell, it's got a good sound (that was the worry) and it looks great. When i looked at the photos of it i was really impressed,it's got a kind of muscular look to it. I want one!
andy elliott Yeah I still love the 458 but I think the 488 steps it up a notch.
+Leopard95 With the 458 i thought wow! where do they go from here ,but they've done it again. There are so many great, really great ,cars now from Ferrari,Mclaren, Porsche etc.How can they keep improving?
I will get to try one in a few months I cant wait. Great video as always Chris!
Amazing video. So many beautiful shots. Damn well done.
Even though I will never be convinced by your urge to sliding around every single car, what a great review ! the first and probably the best of its kind... Thank you
There's no doubt this car must be absolutely fabulous to drive... But IMO, it's terribly ugly, it just looks like a Nimrod bodykit on the 458!
***** i really like the back end, the detail on the headlights look really well in my opinion, but the front looks like a cheap version of the LaF, they misse big time on the front design (at least for me, but my opinion is irrelevant since i'll never get one ahaha)
Mate your picture is a lambo, the definition of ugly
The front end looks like a combination of the 458 and the LaF while the back looks like a more modern take on the 458
I'm a very analytical person, and am very good at pinpointing what makes something "good", and what makes something "bad", this is really useful in my line of work as it makes for quick and efficient improvements.
The special version of this is going to be mind-boggling
I already like the Spider 488
Incredible work of art & engineering !
I fell in love..now all im waiting for now is the spider version of it.
Pinch yourself at times? Still working there? Bless
The glovebox randomly opens at 6:17 😂
Alex Zevallos yeah, that's how you know it's a proper ferrari. they always fuck up the small things.:D
I love my 430 to death, but man i hate it sometimes. I can't listen to music while using the GPS. How fucked up is that? (the navigation and mp3 player software are on different CF memory cards and you can only use one at a time). :D
You don't own a 430 stfu
Alex Zevallos It's apart of the active aero.
DGRWPF who the fuck wants to listen to music in a 430? You don't have one, liar.
Aquatic Bubble Why don't you believe him? I own a F430 too
Chris keep making these videos. Easily one of the best channels around.
the best car with turbo engine that I've ever seen
Zan Tedeschi koenigsegg says hi xD
Koenigsegg si another type of car, it is limited edition and turbo lag and sound are poor
This car? The best with a turbo engine? No. It's ugly, sounds like shit, boring, but fast. The Huayra is the best turbo engine car ever.
the huayra is limited edition and it costs 5x, the turbos sound like an airplane (i hate that sound)
this is a V8 turbo that sounds like a V8 aspirated
Chris Harris, the man for the best reviews of the best cars.
Ive been reading CAR mags and the rest since the days of LJK Setright RIP when I was 7y.o. Inc the infamous articles of the Japanese taxi the R32 Nissan Gtr.
Long live the King Harris!
Thanks Chris & Neil. :)
The quality of your videos has really met my expectations as a viewer, visuals, sound, perspective, everything.
Lol
Chris: "Is it faster than the F12?"
Driver: "It's really really fast"
Ferrari are such douches when it comes to releasing their specs
+Snazzy Snafu And how can it not be? The F12 wins on noise, though. And maintenance costs.
With performance as bonkers as the 488, I couldn't possibly care less about numbers. Too many so-called car fans are obsessed with competition between cars or brands, or being committed to a certain brand, instead of just appreciating the capability of these amazing cars. It's so irritating!
AND letting you use the car you purchased lol.. "We`ll take those 10million and LET you use the cars twice a year" etc..
The laptimes Ive seen posted either puts them at the same lap time, or the F12 0,5 sec faster.
He is one of the best test drivers I've seen.
Not from a driving perspective (I'm sure hes one of the best) but from the passion you can tell he has for the car.
I believed every single word he said.
I already miss the 458 :(
Canniballistix Yes I could buy a nice used one but I miss it because something like the 458 wont be built anymore.
***** True.. maybe for that reason, it will become a future classic.
It's not gone you bitch!
That overhead shot, around 9 mins... Just great cinematography. Not to mention the rest of the video... which is surely worth mentioning. Fantastic camera control and editing.
I honestly think the 458 is better looking. Not a fan of this front end
Once you see these cars in person you'll start to realize how much you've been wrong I've said that until I saw this and the Huracan in person
I don't like what they did to the back end either, but I'd imagine it drives better.
As Ahmed stated it is a whole other thing to see the car in person
The rate of progression in the automotive world is truly unbelievable. Great video yet again guys.
"me wanting to go to bed" chris harris uploads video, well 5 cups of coffe will do the job aswell.
Another great review from Chris Harris. Probably the best job ever. As for the car.....for me this Ferrari 488 GTB is the best looking Ferrari since the 355. Makes me wish I'd tried harder at school, because sadly I'll never be able to afford one of these myself.
matey mate, when are the Nürburgring 24 hour videos coming?
I've watched this twice a day since its release. You're clearly putting my Patreon donation to good work, beautiful piece of film Chris and Neil, just wow.
Wait wait wait, the baby Ferrari has 670bhp??? Wow...
Aron Bell Wait no the California T doesn't
Precisely. The mid-engined V8 is now the driver's Ferrari. The enthusiast's Ferrari is still the F12 and the poser's Ferrari is still the California. And of course, for the consumate Ferrari consumer, there is the Laferrari.
F12 for me sure this is faster but that NA V12 is amazing and the f12 is beautiful and could be used as a daily
yet strangely, they sell the fewest V12's.
Chris you are simply the man for making your videos 50 fps!!! Thanks!
Turbo charging this smaller (3.9 vs 4.5 liters) engine yields another 100hp, but even more importantly, another 160 lb/ft of torque. I'll take those turbos any day of the week. Those poor rear tires.
No one does this stuff better than Chris... always interesting analysis and commentary... bravo
***** imo, the Huracan seems so boring theres nothing new to it and has less soul(if you could say that)
488 seems much more intricate and spikes my interest in a way Lambo never have.
Though im not going to be owning any of these anytime soon so i dont have a say in it.
I love how the Hurracan looks but I'm sure this drives better. But it looks boring and ugly.
Sandouras The thing that's boring and ugly is the Huracan. It does what the Audi R8 does, except slightly worse.
SilverArrow WilliamsMartini That back end looks like an 80ies classic. The Fezza looks like they copied an F1 car. It makes it look like a cheap japanese shit.
If i'm completely honest, since the 360 Modena, this specific line has been going downhill in looks with every new car.
Sandouras The back of the new Lambo's (except the Aventador) look hideous. It's just a line across the rear. It looks pathetic.
Chris Harris is the one person I would be okay with as a new presenter on Top Gear, great video.
Thanks for sharing! Why buy the, the Ferrari? You could buy the 488, a vacation condo, and a GT3RS!
Mike Lyon the Ferrari the Ferrari has to be the most idiotically named car ever.
***** in that case we can expect a 6 min nürburgring time from the opel karl ;)
givemeajackson Made my day.
Love Chris Harris - leagues ahead of ALL other car test journalists on video.
I hope that one day Ferrari will replicate the F40 nature on a modern car using this new turbo tech. Mr Harris how does the 488 compare to the F40 ?
I forgot to say... Nice video !
Vega Rapidus
I suspect the modern day Ferrari rulebook claims a much too civilized and sophisticated character from a car so that a modern Ferrari could never replicate the F40 in a decent way.
1:30 "Zero to 200, is this faster than the F12?"
"It's really, really fast."
Didn't want to admit if the F12 is faster than the 488.
Chris what a bloke! Brilliant videos that comes with cool narration, music and simplistic design! and cars of course!
lol at 6:17 the glovebox mysteriously opens
+Akash Chavan It was Enzo's ghost looking for his sunglasses.
Excellent idea to interview the test driver! That added a lot of panache.
It'll never ever beat the 458 (Speciale). It may be faster but it will never be better.
Until the 488GTB superleggera comes out.
When it comes to modern ferraris people only remember the specials
It looks prettier, and it drives just as well, if not better, not to mention that because of better fuel-economy I don't have to stop hooning as often for fuel as the 458.
djphineart superleggera is term that is used by Lamborghini
DimensiiioN And you'll never drive any of them to be able to tell that. I love how the more clueless someone is, the faster he jumps into a conclusion and just brands something as better or worse despite having zero experience with it. Give this car a chance, will you?
Then wait for the 488 cs/scuderria/speciale
Well Done Chris & Neil. A quality, once a again. Thanks again for keep on doing these!
HATERS GONNA HATE
(from their toyota corolla)
***** Nah, imma hate from my bicycle.
***** I love Ferrari but i hate force induction.
***** Lol word. I'm going to be envious from my 10 year BMW. One day I'll own a Ferrari.
+Hendra Di It's ok--fast cars aren't for everybody.
Chris Harris, thanks a lot for sharing these videos. I love them sooooo much!!! I wish I was able to drive half as good as you do :)
LOOL
In what way is porsche ''backwards'', you know nothing, just check out the latest GT3 RS that Chris has reviewed lately.
osamaFXX the best comment here, thats the way Ferrary should go.And of course more emotional sound like in old times
osamaFXX Um... that's what they're doing. Praise to Germans, Brits and Japanese, but Italians just make the best supercars.
n
This video is utterly beautiful when viewed in high frame rate. Buttery smooth slide shots!
The Ferrari 458 is one of the best looking ferrari's ever made. The one doesn't really do it for me
***** considering many of the styling cues for this car are designed only for aero whereas the 458 was styled with passion. Show me a bad angle on the 458?
All Ferraris lately are ugly. The Laferrari and 458 Speciale are the only visually pleasing ones. The F12 also looks good but only when it has a N-Largo kit.
Matt Canipe not really a fan of the LaFerrari especially with the F1 inspired nose. Don't get me wrong tho, the rear end is beautiful
Murad Ali watch the video of the all black LaFerrari power sliding and you'll change your mind man. Lol.
Dear mum and dad of Chris Harris, thank you for doing an awesome job.
This vid was published at the same time as Autocar's review. Coincidence?
boy638 Non Disclosure Agreement ;)
boy638 Nope. The embargo was just lifted.
It's the embargo
boy638 Oh shit! CHRIS HARRIS ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED
Embargo placed by Ferrari, they couldn't release it until now .
Your videos are pure awesomness! Thank you Chris!
Still won't order one. Can't afford it :-)
+golferchin76
That is why Porsche exist.
bighands69 your being sarcastic to Porsche. no good...
Chris when i see in my subscription box a new video from you and your team i just sit back in my sofa, take some snacks and enjoy. Thanks for making my day. Please continue to be the best in the business of car reviews
C'mon Porsche. Bring the GT2 RS.
Another great review and one that has helped to make my mind up. Thank you Chris Harris! Now I'm off to the showroom.
turbocharged super car done right
ferrari built a drift car
Mr. Harris, this is spirit of driving to me. You did a great job again, just like the men from Ferrari did!
Thank you
I'm sorry McLaren and Lamborghini. I love you both but If I'll be spending this much money, I'm going for the big one.
love the casual conversation while driving insanely fast! :D great camera angles and everything! These videos really are the best!
1:30
Is it faster than an F12?
It is really really fast = No it isn't faster than an F12
Maldonado Karthikeyan I think he insinuated that it is faster.
Maldonado Karthikeyan i think it is faster then a F12
Loving the 50 FPS. Thanks for another awesome video, Chris and Neil.
There is just something about every ferraris wheels I just hate. I think It must be that tone of silver.
17:10 - 17:15 I like this angle of view so much. Great video again Chris.
I'm in love......
Loved the aerial shots in this video. Great job Chris!
still can't beat Mclaren
It's not clinical to drive though.
Exactly!!
You're my favorite Chris…. Hysterical ending !!
Honestly doesn't seem that fast. Pretty sure the 675LT is going to annihilate it. F12 fast? Please...
Shadowboost Drive it yourself before making conclusions.
Lol you're basing this on what exactly? Also, the power to weight ratio of this is similar to an f12, so yes it is indeed f12 fast.
karlmalone11 Basing it on it being over 300 lb heavier and only 0.5 seconds faster at fiorano than the speciale. Just for background, Chris Goodwin was putting in 2'34 laptimes at Spa in the 675LT while datalogging and with passenger.
Shadowboost You sound cocky for someone who has never been in the same time zone with one of these cars. Not to mention you probably have absolutely zero experience with any car that can remotely be called a performance car, let alone a supercar like 675 or 488.
derbigpr500 LOL, I was at McLaren PURE at Spa watching the 675LT in person, so...
Thanks for the FPS, stunning footage ensued. The best, really.
