Random tank fact #8: Britain is one of if not the last country that develops modern tanks that use rifled guns instead of smooth bore guns. For those who don’t know rifled guns are much better at firing rounds such as APDS, HE, APHE, HESH, HEAT, and standard AP due to the rifling putting a spin on the round and making it travel at a higher velocity. Smooth bore guns are much better at firing rounds that are fin stabilized as the fins already put spin onto a round. This spin which is created from fin stabilized rounds is actually somewhat hampered when being fired out of a rifled gun. The reason Britain is still using rifled guns while most of NATO has moved to smoothbore is its capability to fire HESH rounds. Britain has found great use of HESH rounds in modern combat and they have stuck with rifled guns for this very reason. The new Challenger 3 does happen to use a German smooth bore gun instead for the greater potential velocity of fin stabilized rounds. But do it worry, a HESH round is reportedly being developed for use on this gun.

Good Gawd the OES is a total rip off. And this is coming from someone who has spaded all 6 of the TT Chally 2's. The reason this is the only top tier not available via packs/dlc is because it would get downvoted and reviewed into the ground for having an almost extra 10 tonnes of weight over the 2f with no change in armour or capability... the ERA and NERA is the same. Where does Gaijin think all that extra weight went into???
At the end of the day, it's a TES with a .50 on the roof. Which is a shame because the TES is actually my favorite of all the Chally 2's. But for a grinding vehicle, the OES is horrendous, the snail is just hoping that newer players don't know any better. Get the DS and the Bishima at 10.3.
