I suppose this is one of the tanks that benefits from being played in RB, with not penetration indicator. In AB people figure out really quickly that the ARL-44 can be easily disabled by shooting at the turret, which is only 100mm thick with barely any mantlet or angle to improve it. And the super thin sides can be penetrated super easily, even at odd angles. Also, in AB it meets *a lot* of Tigers and Panthers.
I was pleasantly surprised when I played and spaded the ARL-44. Its better than the earlier AC-1 variant, mainly because the 90 mm gun has better performance the the AC-1's 75 mm weapon. Its best to use the ARL-44 as an SP instead of a medium or heavy tank. Use it for ranged attacks rather than up close. The 90 mm solid shot seems to perform better than that of the 17 pounder. I never see Solid shot do that poorly damage wise on tanks like the American T series heavies and I think it's simply just a shell size/weight issue and just the sheer girth of a 90mm to 150mm solid slug of metal slapping a tank in the face just causes enough spalling itself to kill the whole enemy crew.
PCO-50? Unf that’s the name of M4s round, but they ignored that part of my report when they fixed the ammo weight and type. Def not annoying or anything.
As a Belgian I'm very pleased that you acknowledge the possibly Belgian origin of French Fries. Also, Belgian french fries are insanely good. Not like restaurant fries, but the ones you get from a permanent food truck type thing in a little town. Insanely delicious. If you ever go there, please make sure to check for good "frietkotten" (flemish) or "fritures" (french) in the area and try it out. Usually the good ones are also very cheap somehow. For less than €5 you get like a wholeass kilogram of fries. Don't forget to ask for a shittonne of mayonnaise too!
Actually, the origin of the fries is not Belgian, but French, and even Parisian. In the 1800s, doughnut sellers set up shop around Pont-Neuf, and they were the first to come up with the idea of dipping potatoes in frying oil.
dude this thing is busted, it goes straight through the front plate of a panther. Uptiers aren't a big deal, and in a downtier it's an absolute menace. The armor is great and it's not too sluggish either. It's got an amazing lineup at 5.3 too. Definitely one of my favorite tanks at this tier.
The 1 thing I am sad about the 5.3 lineup, is that the jumbo was removed from it and put at a higher br. Normally, the jumbo and arl were like bread and butter for different circumstances
When you accidental started playing France not knowing anything about French tanks nor the way Gaijin/War thunder is about to make you suffer. Until you get this tank and you like this tank because it slaps and actually kills other tanks not tickle them. Also, a person who knows how to use the Arl44 acl, is an absolute menace.
This tank is a nasty surprise to many players because most people don't know where to shoot it. They will treat it like a Panther and go for a hull front shot. But the hull front is very heavily armoured. The gun throws an 11kg APCBC projectile at over 1000m/s. More penetration than the long 88mm. No APHE but lots of spalling when it hits. 13 second reload is the price. The AMX M4 has the same gun but with a 6.5 second 7 round auto-loader.
Love this tank. Love maps with barricades. This thing is good at showing only its top part of the turret hiding behind a barricade. Truly a objective camper on some maps. Perfect for shooting and protecting your crew when utilizing the barricades.
My group gave this tank its own maneuver, The "French Gambit". Where you put your big fat front slope out first when rounding a corner to bait people into shooting it instead of your turret.
I have this tank and use it all the time and I can in fact say it is AMAZING. I can absorb a shot from a tiger with no problem (in the hull) and can pen almost anything at its BR!!!
0:16 It's classed as a tank destroyer because it was designated as a tank destroyer. During development, it was designated as a heavy tank but, when it was finally trialed in its final form, the French were so disappointed with its performance as a heavy tank that they redesignated it as a tank destroyer. This is represented in-game by the ARL-44 ACL-1 being a heavy tank and the final ARL-44 being a tank destroyer.
"fun" fact : 2-3 years ago, Gaijin nerfed the depression for historical reasons, however they conveniently left out the most important part of the report : the loader assisting system, wich reduced the reload to 4-5 seconds...
This tank was probably my fav earlier French tank when I started working up the tree my only pain was sometimes if you got gunner the enemy gunner would come back before you reloaded and tended to one shot me back but other than that it’s gun combined with hull turned it into a powerful killing machine for me
Attempt number... I dont know, maybe 4, of suggesting my "Be the best teamate" challenge Get top of the team AND WIN without ANY KILLS, only assists captures repairs help ect. You ARE allowed to shoot down planes tho, but if your the best teamate you should be good enough that you can shoot down any plane with just your main cannon. Friends are allowed (and encouraged). Any BR, any nations allowed. If you kill somebody gotta restart. Although, I guess if you like, shoot a stugs engine and they J out that cant really be blamed on you, so I guess thats acceptable Good luck!
Before i took my break from Warthunder over 4 years ago, i played this ARL44 occasionally.. though i only played in AB since realistic battles were near impossible to play (enemys could see you over half the map behind trees and bushes somehow and hit you at the first shoot while you never saw anything) but somehow everyone managed to destroy this tank easily even from the front even when it was angled ^^
This vehicle had one of the best buffs that gaijin could do, I remember that they lowered the br from 5.7 to 5.3, they changed the ammunition for a better one and now it pierces almost 250mm of penetration, before it was only about 215mm and they cut the firing time. reloading the cannon, before it used to take about 13 or 14 seconds and now around 10 seconds to reload. The only bad thing about this vehicle is that it dies easily when it receives a shot in the turret cheeks, it always dies one-shotted, it cannot survive like a tiger or a panther.

Who says frietkot? I have only ever heard frituur, then again i come from antwerpen so that probably has something to do with it, fuck i miss frituur
Actually, the origin of the fries is not Belgian, but French, and even Parisian. In the 1800s, doughnut sellers set up shop around Pont-Neuf, and they were the first to come up with the idea of dipping potatoes in frying oil.
@@hyrikul602 Created in France, got popular in Belgian. Not sure why people have such a hard time understanding this
dude this thing is busted, it goes straight through the front plate of a panther.
I have been waiting for this for YEARS DOG TY
if you would make a vid on France 5.7 that would be insane ty, love your content
YES A NEW VIDEO! Can you play the Grant I?
My ARL 44 experience is T-34-85s one shotting me through my turret face while I wait for my gun to settle.
Attempt 20, you've played a French TD, and now I request the Italian Event light tank AUBL/74 HVG
“Who just shot me from behind”
*pause*
0:50 WOW! his whole turret crew was already dead.... but that driver got vaporized
8:35
Walkin' fast, faces pass
And I'm homebound
Starin' blankly ahead
Just makin' my way
Makin' a way through the crowd
Thank you finally!!!
5.3-5.7 France is pretty goaded.
Love this tank. Love maps with barricades. This thing is good at showing only its top part of the turret hiding behind a barricade. Truly a objective camper on some maps.
Perfect for shooting and protecting your crew when utilizing the barricades.
ELC Bis? I looked for a bit in your videos and didn't see it or missed it! Its become one of my favorite rat tanks in the last few weeks!
My group gave this tank its own maneuver, The "French Gambit". Where you put your big fat front slope out first when rounding a corner to bait people into shooting it instead of your turret.
6:42 Spookston mewing session fr????
The turret Armor is so painful and the scope can’t even zoom in
I have this tank and use it all the time and I can in fact say it is AMAZING. I can absorb a shot from a tiger with no problem (in the hull) and can pen almost anything at its BR!!!
Real Madrid in the semis, new Spookston video. Perfect night.
LET'S GOOOOOO. Dude this thing was in my lineup up to 6.7, it's so good
My favorite french "tank destroyer"
Some people shoot at your turret buy when an oblivious player fire at your hull armor, oh boy does he feel stupid.
I love how solid shot either one shots everything no fail some matches and other matches it takes 10 shots to kill a sherman
Badass Spookston being a epic fella 😼
us mains stereotypes like the german mains video u did a while back? (revenge bomb everyone etc)
"fun" fact : 2-3 years ago, Gaijin nerfed the depression for historical reasons, however they conveniently left out the most important part of the report : the loader assisting system, wich reduced the reload to 4-5 seconds...
This tank was probably my fav earlier French tank when I started working up the tree my only pain was sometimes if you got gunner the enemy gunner would come back before you reloaded and tended to one shot me back but other than that it’s gun combined with hull turned it into a powerful killing machine for me
He was still able to go in reverse even with a dead engine because its a French vehicle.
9:55 "What is air defense doing ?"
LOOOOL
Attempt number... I dont know, maybe 4, of suggesting my "Be the best teamate" challenge
Get top of the team AND WIN without ANY KILLS, only assists captures repairs help ect.
You ARE allowed to shoot down planes tho, but if your the best teamate you should be good enough that you can shoot down any plane with just your main cannon.
Friends are allowed (and encouraged).
Any BR, any nations allowed. If you kill somebody gotta restart. Although, I guess if you like, shoot a stugs engine and they J out that cant really be blamed on you, so I guess thats acceptable
Good luck!
Some ARL-44 love yay, I love this thing
Before i took my break from Warthunder over 4 years ago, i played this ARL44 occasionally.. though i only played in AB since realistic battles were near impossible to play (enemys could see you over half the map behind trees and bushes somehow and hit you at the first shoot while you never saw anything) but somehow everyone managed to destroy this tank easily even from the front even when it was angled ^^
Hahaha, “making my way downtown” - That’s my jam, lmfao.
I had a 8 kill, no death with the low tier puma, 5 kills were with HE. ridiculous, also planning on making a video on the Kungstiger when it comes out?
