    Based on Chaparrel 's 2020 tire shoot out. I got the Dunlop Mission Trailmax for my 6500 miles round the USA tour on my Africa Twin. They are the literal brick shit house of tires, but they don't handle the heat well; I was riding in the middle of June 2022 through North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, California, Nevada and one the way back through eastern Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois I'll just say it was really hot! By the time I got back the rear middle lugs were gone and at the high speeds I was cruising at they hummed at the beginning and became a little quieter as they wore down. So I managed to get a pair of Anakee Adventure tires which I am fitting to BARTubless wheels with the Takasago rims. Your review confirmed my choice in these tires for the next ride to Idaho from Ohio. Thank you!

    I run these tires at 33/38 on my Super Tenere. They are awesome on the road and hard-packed dirt. If you're on grassy/sandy dual track, they do very well.
    Where these tires do not excel are
    a) Wet clay. Slip and slide with no control.
    b) Deep sand (as in video) Front tire just does what it wants. Best bet is to enter at the right speed, weight back, and throttle out until you're done. Sand pits are not viable.
    c) Mud/wet grass. The rear just doesn't hook up and you'll slide sideways.
    d) Turning on anything deeper than 1" soft sand up top. With proper body positioning you can turn, but because of the tire profile the front will slip *then* catch once you're leaned over to the edge. It's not confidence inspiring but you get used to it.
    I've gotten stuck twice. First with damp dirt that just gums up the tread. Turns it into a slick and any hill is unclimbable without momentum. Second is super deep sand. It just digs a hole.
    So if you're not riding in these conditions, these are the best tires out there. For most riders who do not want a 50/50, these are the best you can buy for literally 90% of your riding. If you don't ride wet dirt or deep sand they will do it all.

      Completely agree, certain road surfaces are insanely loud and extremely annoying. I don’t think the Karoo 3’s do any better on fire roads than a regular street tire so if you’re planning on doing a trip with asphalt and fire roads, don’t get the karoos.
      Planning on trying the Anakee’s next.

    Been eyeing a pair of these for a while but I ride a naked bike, FZ09 and a lot of people are saying how weird of a setup that would be on a naked bike. But I just want to hit a few fire roads from time to time haha! I commute everyday on it to work and go on canyon twisties on the weekend, do you think this is grippy enough to hit corners on? Thanks so much!!

      I like the feeling of the STR on the street. Super soft and responsive sidewalls! Off road they were similar. The Anakee Adventure is a better “all around” tire and is a longer lasting tire. But really, you can’t go wrong with either. Thanks for watching!

    Also, how about the weight of the two, any real difference?

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  3 года назад +6

      I think the Anakee Adventure is the more advanced tire. It is a dual compound tire that works so great on the road and does surprisingly off-road... and it is best in cold and wet weather. Neither like snow or mud if that matters ;) Hope this helps!

      Yes, I’ve ridden the E07+ but haven’t edited up my review as of yet. It’s in the queue. It’s a good 50/50 tire does it all okay... but not great at either street or dirt. I’d actually probably rate it as an 80/20 tire after having ridden it. My 2 cents...

    Hi Kyle, i am hesitating between Michelin Anakee Adventure & Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR. Both great tires. My first priority is the best tire of those 2 in twisty roads. I want the one that stick (like glue) the most to asphalt while leaning, while cornering. Please give me your valuable opinion; thanks.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  4 года назад +3

      Both... Ha! Ha! No really... The Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR feels just like a sport bike tire when railing fast twisties. The feedback is amazing. However it is not really good on any "off road" terrain. On the other hand... the Michelin Anakee Adventure I pushed to its limits and it never skipped out or failed me on road. Off road it is a really capable tire, much more than Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR. Hope this helped. Choose wisely young Jeddi. - Kyle

      Kyle Bradshaw : Thanks for reply; its very appreciated; cheers & best regards from Montreal🖖🏻. The Scorpion Rally STR doesn’t look that bad as its in second place for dirt/gravel roads; i ride 75% asphalt & 25% dirt/gravel roads; so maybe it could be a good option for me. The Anakee adventure got first place of your tires shoot out, but only 4th place in twisties & i love twisties...

    Hello Kyle in your video while riding in the dirt you mentioned it would have been nice to have Anakee wild in front, so here is my question for the best mix combo in your opinion for a big heavy bike
    Anakee ADV rear and Anakee wild in front
    Karoo street rear and Karoo 3 in front
    Conti Tkc 70 rear and Tkc 80 in front
    Pirelli Mt 90 reat and scorpion rally STR in front
    PS sorry for the home work but please rate it 1st, 2nd 3rd

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  3 года назад +1

      It really just depends on what you’re doing. For example I typically run extremely knobby the tires in the front and in the back. If your goal is longevity there are tire such as the Motoz GPS tire that is a true 50-50 tire and it does great in both the dirt and on the street… And it gets like 10 to 12,000 miles. From my style of writing the Anakee adventure was just a little bit to tame... What if I was going to run it for a long trip I would definitely put the wild out front so I knew that I had great off-road traction going downhill fully loaded. I think the new TKC 70 rocks tire is going to be fantastic. I have a set in route and will test them as soon as they get here. When it comes to the Karoo tires The Karoo street is really for the street and the Karoo 3 is a perfect on an off-road tire. What type of ridding are you specifically looking to do And on my bike… That will allow me to give you the most directive answer.

    • @paoloconcina1632
      @paoloconcina1632 3 года назад

      @@manybikes first of all my skills level is not as great as yours so I am looking more for a front tyre that tracks well on the pavement and the dirt, I am always 2up and not too worried about the rear tyre.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  3 года назад +1

      Paolo Concina that makes sense. I’d run the Anakee Wild up front then. It is a fantastic tire once you get used to the “squirm” feel due to the notched sides of the lugs which allow the lugs to “shift and move” keeping the tire cooler while improving grip. If you like the Anakee Adv Rear, then yes... run this set-up!
