It was Jimmy Carter, Democrat, Georgia, who pushed the Shah of Iran out of power. We all know what happened: The U.S. Embassy takeover, the bungled rescue attempt, the rise of the Ayatollah Khomeini and radical Islam. It was Ronald Reagon, Republican, California, who secured the unconditional release of the hostages. Tell me more about how great Carter was.

What a load of BS. He allowed the Ayatollah to take over Iran, which set a chain reaction to being fanatical Islam to the Middle East. What a wonderful tribute to a lovely, gentle man. Wonder what the ornament for #45 will be? A tiny cage with a crying child in it? A tiny cage with diaper don in an orange jumpsuit in it? A tiny cage with the door wide open and a “see ya latah sucka” note from Melanie inside? Possibilities are endless.

Carter was not the only us president to be in the Navy. JFK also went through the naval academy.

@@darrellcook8253 I only had the comment that I hope Jimmy is aware of this honor. I said this because he is in the very, final days of his life. He is quite ill. At this point, most folks are sleeping quite a bit, and taking heavy medications. I in no way was questioning Jimmy's keen intellect, nor would I.

When you want to think of a brilliant President whose humanity was visible from his first day in office, and his efforts and decisions kept people alive, even if it somehow hurt his image, he did it. I would say that we have fallen to the opposite of the Jimmy Carter days.
