phils high hat usage is way advanced b4 its time, truly great playing, mark bass is always amazing considering he's singing as well , boon and mike are just awesome
i was 15 when this was done .. but thousands of miles accross the ocean .. most North Americans hadn't had the pleasure of this sound yet!! But it would come !!!!
omg he had had some empty drinks thrown to his head. I stood near him, call me a liar, good diam old times, i feekin loved his les paul! Great recording!
The vocoder part is awesome, even better than on the studio album were it was very good, stunning doing this live...I wonder how he could connect his vocoder to the prophet, good knowing from his old gear
If there were an Oscar for 'physical onstage vitality' Level 42 would be the all time winner. All they did in studios, is lousy crap. They always needed the stage, to explode. And they did!
From a time where "mainstream" musicians could actually play, and sing without Autotune. Quite rare nowadays. The closest band with the same concept (awesome songs with impeccable musicianship) would be something like Dirty Loops or Knower, but they don't have a huge record label behind. Sad.....
That's Leroy Williams on percussion - not Wally Badarou. Wally is a keyboard player rather than a perscussionist and never (unfortunately) played live with Level 42.
Does anyone know why Level 42 are seemingly refusing to upload the official music videos for this song and also "Out Of Sight and Out Of Mind" to their RUclips channel? And when anyone else tries to upload them, they have them deleted. Very strange...
Am I right in thinking Mike used a Roland SVK-350 rackmount for the vocoder sound? If so what part did the Prophet play - I don't believe it had a MIDI input?
I like level 42 since 1985 till now special watching mark king playing bass
There are few bands who can compete with level 42 concering the GROOVE. even today. Thanks for posting. I have to get me a vocoder....
