Very good technical descriptions and communicating. Good job. I got lazy and use corn sugar to both dry out the beer and increase sg. Corn sugar is our friend
Nothing like a cold lager/ Pilsner 🍺 beer from the tap after mowing the lawns. Summer's in NZ are long and hot, I invested in a temperature controlled fridge in my garage because it gets to hot to ferment 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Great Job - Kids do the BEST photobombs. I've not done a lager yet, but I'm working up to it. (Just not when I have empty kegs, eh?) Lagered Pils is a "time-passing" beer - you only know you got it right if it is refreshing and unobtrusive and mostly, unmemorable. What a weird combination.
You make a good door man! Sounds a beaut especially the weather your having at the mo. I live in Italy and it certainly isn't that hot yet. You can't beat a few brownie points either! Great vid. Cheers
I have made like 4 batches total of Pilsner and Oktoberfest altogether and boy I love them beer, they are by far my most favorite style of beer but good God!! they require time and patience lol. It’s worth the wait nevertheless when done right
A really first class video. Very impressive! I have never lagered a beer as I am not a lager fan but as you say, in this weather it ain't going to last you long. Keep up the excellent work buddy and all the best!
Cheers Richard, nothing wrong with extract brewing these days, many winning competitions! Brewing and vlogging tomorrow so a vid will be up next week 👍 Iechyd da!
I see your using the Tilt hydrometer, doe's it work well? I'm interested in using a Tilt in pressure brewing 15psi with the a Fermentisuris V2. So many options/advantages with fermenting under pressure, faster ferment, carbonates, forces all the haze under pressure to the collection attachment, reducing Lagering time to 7 days and higher fermenting temperature, some high pressure brewing lager yeast 15psi. Ferment/serve from one vessel, less mess to clean up. No exposure to oxygen.
Awesome job and the "Fantastic" comment by your little one was perfect! I agree that pilsner lagers are nothing exciting but now you can begin to play with them as you know you can easily pull it off. Not sure if you can get spruce in your area but spruce pilsner or lightly hopped pilsners can be amazing.
To say that yours first pilsner it looks blinding. I want to try and crack something like this myself. Cheers for the advice. Glad to hear your family is ok.
Thanks for explaining the process, but I do have one question. When bottling, did you have to repitch any yeast, or did your bottles still carb up after the cold crash? Cheers
Biggles Brewery Cheers bud, yeah i enjoy using the tilt but its a bit unnecessary. I don't upload to google sheets etc i just can't be assed! Handy knowing your gravity at the touch of a button rather than samples 👍
Great video, I’ve got the same book and was planning to ferment at 10C to start with, then go up to 20C then crash down to near 0C, any advice on timescales for each temperature stage?
Hi, it really depends on the yeasts progress and gravity of the beer but generally start off at 10 and raise 1 degree every day to 20 degrees then crash. Cheers
Great video and idea taking us through the lagering process. Top sounding Pilsner and I can only imagine it's going down a treat in the heat. Bit hard for me to imagine as I work outside and it was just above 0C first thing haha. Cheers mate

Loved this video, would like to see more lager videos out there. Well done 👍

Brillient video, thanks for all your work with that. More info on the diastil rest would be good...
Watch most of your videos mate. I'm from Neath. Still only extract brewing with addition hops etc. Keep doing what your doing 😀

It looks the part. Will be checking my mail box for the beer ;)
DrHans Brewery Haha it's a bit too boring to invest in such a journey to you 😀
This looks an ideal beer for my missus, she hates anything with a bitter aftertaste and pulls some right faces. Stay well 👍🍺🍺
I’m also new to brewing, but you’re FG target was 1.011 but it attenuated out to 1.000. Could that be why it was so dry?
Nice red hot summer beer
From a Brit living in he south of France think I will have to do it

Iv never had the patience to make a lager. Hope it’s all worth it!! How do you find the Tilt? Worth the investment?

TubeDinoz cheers mate, sure you lot down there will make up for the low temps in your summer haha. It'll be raining here
I see he has the symbol of The Griffin on the wall. O r is it a Dragon ? If it's a Griffin, he can make his beer with Pride.
Haha it's a Dragon which means I still make beer with pride :-) VERY close to The Griffin though! Cheers
Oh very hard to make a lager, just make it in a fridge!
This is Greek to me
