How did your iPod get into the connect to iTunes Mode? They say a main reason is entering wrong passcode to get into the device too many times but I don’t believe that’s what happened with mine. One day I picked up my iPod and it was in that mode but I’ve been using it very consistently.

Mine does not give the "fix" option. I get "check for update" instead and it doesn't work. I can only restore or close.
