I just purchased this beauty today after lusting after it since launch! Back in the day to get my long shots of wildlife in Etosha in Namibia and over in Natal and Kruger I used a Tamron 500mm mirror lens placed on a bean bag on the door sill of my car. I think it’s safe to say we have moved on and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you Fuji.
I see many comments complaining about f8, comparing it to sony's 200-600 but look at that lens! Its more portable and lighter. Wanna shoot at f6.3? Maybe just use the a less zoomed in focal range (400mm).
Rien compris ! Pas possible de traduire en français ! Mais bon le 150/600 me va comme un gant avec l'xt4 - pas encore testé avec l'xh2s - au printemps peut-être avec les cerfs et les biches dans le Vercors (France) et les vautours en janvier ou février.
F8 on aps-c sensor? For mostly wildlife (where you need EVERY light you can get)?….id rather get the sony 200-600 or the panasonic 100-400 both in endresult have basically more reach or iq for the same price…i really struggle with the f8 here?
f/8 only is so frustrating for me. I was waiting years for such a lens to arrive. I was hoping for at least f/5.6 or better f/4. I will definitely not buy this lens.
This lens solves absolutely zero problems. They literally took a 100-400 and fused it to a 1.4x Tele… Almost exact same focal length & aperture. Epic fail.
You don’t get it. You want a fast long lens then it will be accompanied by a hefty price tag and matching weight and size. The Fuji is hand holdable with its 5 stop IBIS and is very light and compact given its huge range. It’s one or the other mate! Plus just bump up your ISO a little and dry your eyes. If it all gets too emotional for you denoise in post!
Initially, I was quite excited to hear of the release of this lens by Fuji. However, the F8 @ 600mm may be a deal breaker. Then I remembered that Sigma is now producing some nice glass for Fuji X-mount. I think I'll wait to see if Sigma brings their 150-600 or 60-600 to the X-mount. The aperture on those lenses appears to be f5.0 to f6.3. That's two stops more light at the long end with a price that will no doubt be $800 to $1000 less than this new lens from Fujinon. Nice try Fuji, but I'm not sold on this lens...
As a user of those Sigma superzooms, the image quality at f6.3 is really meh and I always stop down to f8. I also used the XF 100-400mm and I find the lens plus 1.4X TC has better image quality than the Sigma super zoom even with the Sigma at 600mm and stopped down to f8. Also don’t forget this new lens will have a faster focus motor and the internal zoom really helps balancing while zooming.
@@dlim5687 Thanks for your thoughts. Much appreciated! I'm going to give this some time and research more before I fork out the near $3,000 CAD (taxes incl) that this lens is going to cost...
Did you ever hold it in your hand. That thing is light. Mounted on a X-T3/4/5 or -H2/H2s you can hold it with one hand on the cameras grip. It's awesome. 5.0 to 6.3 would be of course a fine thing, but all that Sigma and Tamron super zooms having this are lenses for full frame, not APS-C, that must be taken into consideration.
PS: The ED 150-400 TC 1.25 (internal) f/4.5 or 5.6 (depending of the internal 1.25x TC is used or not) over all zoom range is of course a totally other thing, also at it's price point and is permanently on back order.
@@ThinkingKangaroo Different digital cameras use different sensor sizes. Fujiilm's X-mount cameras (which this lens is for) use an APS-C sized sensor, which is a bit smaller than the full-frame sensors that Canon/Nikon/Sony use for their higher end cameras. People sometimes call these APS-C sized sensors "crop" sensors. Bigger sensors can mean better performance in low light or shallower depth of field with equivalent framing, although it's by a pretty modest amount. Fuji also makes cameras in their GFX system, which use an even larger sensor than the other brands' full-frame sensor. Some people seem to think you need a full frame sensor to be "professional," but it's arbitrary. There are sensors much, much bigger than full frame, and ones much, much smaller than APS-C.

I completely agree. However, with the lackluster sales of the 200f2, it has been rumored that Fuji is not so inclined to further pursue faster telescope, especially non-variable aperture prime tele lenses.

I would like to see how this lens performs on the X-T4
Yes! Been waiting for this!
Hi Fujifilm . may I ask does it compatible with X-T1 and X-T100 cameras ? Thanks
I love her . please Fujifim makes a animal eye focus update for the XT4
Hallo kann ich es auch für die xt4 kaufen??
Klar wenn es welche gibt und genügend Geld hat, ob es gut funktioniert würde ich gern auch wissen wollen, man schweigt lieber.

Lovely
Just pre-ordered it!
Is the lens Hood in black color? If so than disappointed. Lens hood must match lens body color is a wise implementation, not black color.
the purpose of a lens hood is to block extraneous light, having it in any colour but black would seem pointless.

Depends whether that tag line applies to manufacture or to customers. I’d rather have a lens I can buy and carry.
