My friend, you just ripped a $1000 bill nearly in half....yes, I'd say you're ABSOLUTELY FIRED!!! Sad to say you didn't have the foresight to package all of these tags into a clear sealable pack for some protection. The "Sweet Cherry" poster has been hanging in my guitar room for 30 years now. She is an anomaly. In my estimation, she is so high above any surviving 1958-1960 Les Paul Standard as to get a nose bleed. Her lineage is astonishing. Aside from the torn credential, thank you for sharing this priceless beauty!
OooooH Myyyy God, that’s freaking so incredible I want to cry. Don’t tell me it’s not worth as much because it’s not a burst. This might be the sweetest guitar I’ve ever laid eyes on. Top 10 for sure.
God, I CRAVE that guitar - what a beautiful, original instrument from a bygone age. In addition, you played it like it should be played - clean, articulate and with no gain, either amp or pedal. What a beauty!
I owned a factory bright red LP Deluxe in the mid-'70's that was also stunning. Of course, it was a Norlin era thing and way downstream from that '58, but it still had a great vibe. I miss it.
5:45 looked like it could fall off his lap at any time. Then 6:40 damn he could have banged that headstock against the table edge multiple times! 9:13 he actually ripped that paper! C'mon guys seriously you're handling this like an idiot!
Now THAT is how you take care of a guitar. And that has to be my new favorite Les Paul of all time. I hate fake relic guitars. And I love when you take one and just keep it mint , that’s ok.
That’s cool but the “Mr dealer” tag would not have been original from this guitar, being supposedly the first ever red Les Paul if you believe the hype, they would not have had the ‘feedback’ yet about fading analine dyes so why would there have been a Mr dealer tag? To me this means likely the case candy has been assembled after the fact to provide a complete picture.
It was in the case with the other candy. Was the Mr. Dealer card only for the red analine die? Not sure when this "warning" became standard as I've seen many earlier 50s goldtops with a square "shadow" of the toggle tag, meaning the guitar was displayed in the sunny store window and the finish darkened around the tag, thus ruining a new guitar's finish and causing problems and inevitable discounts . Also, this guitar was sold later in 1958 after traveling with the sales force and being used as a demo at seminars. Probably after cherry Jrs and sunburst standards were readily available.
ok enough It’s too clean for a sixty -six year old guitar . Great story , but so sad it was never played and now is a just a trophy . Most 58 59 60 Standards are NOT tone monsters and are owned by people who can’t really play that well . When will the madness end ? The day I buy one !!!
The guy giving the history was making me nervous swinging that headstock so close that table! 😮
Me too! He really wasn't paying attention...ands neither was the other guy who tore the original paperwork...
@@johne.1011 When you have a lot, you may not appreciate all that you have.
Jesus, I was worried too! 😮...😂
😱😳😲😨

Wonderful to see this documented here. Thanks!
So cool to see all three of those LP's together like that , love all of thems ! Thanky Spanky !

You got it ! Thank you so much ! These guitars have the sweetest tone, no need for pedals !
You ripped the OG pickup tag?! YOU'RE FIRED!!!!!!
I've seen that one before, but never heard it played. What a BEAUTIFUL piece!
Man o' man, I WANT that one!
This guy looks really baked ...
Yup, he's high as a kite. I think the video ends when he's just about to get it on with the guitar.
@@mikethebloodthirsty 😂😂😂
What a fantastic video Mike have a wonderful weekend ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Fantastic guitar, dude... kudos !
🎸🎸
Awesome guitar! What a unicorn! I bought that blacked out Duo Sonic from ya a few years back! Glad to see ya again!

Wow... great video... killer guitar! I'll bet that's worth some serious $$$... lucky man to own that beauty....
Wow, can't get any better than this
“Oops, I just ripped it.”
Love it! Sweet Cherry 🍒
❤️❤️
Sweet, very cool!!
🎸🎸🎸
66 years undamaged, he destroys the tag and doesn't edit it out.
oh, son. that piece of paper is worth more than your car!
holy shit thats sounds GOOOOOOD
Beautiful.
Congrats bro on that beautiful guitar. That gold top is glorious!! Half million dollar guitar?
That’s like a translucent Red. A beautiful 1958. Reminds me of Jimmy Page’s #3 although his is a 1969 I believe.
It’s amazing that the finish hasn’t checked, nor evidently has it faded. How does that happen?
Reminds me of George Harrison's Lucy Les Paul guitar
This guy made the video unwatchable.
Wow! That's a beauty. Where did the ledger page come from? Thanks Mike and Joe.
I believe it was Walter Carter who found it and gave me the copy of the ledger page.
has the cherry les Paul been sold?
Sorry, not for sale.
If this video did t make you an instant subscriber I probably wouldn’t want to be in the same room with you anyway.
6:30 ... waving that headstock back and forth toward the table edge. OMG. Stop!!!!
Sweet
very cool man where did you find such a rare Les Paul
Who owns it now?
Joe Bonamassa will in a week or two...
I thought Gibson lost the shipping ledgers from the Mid 50's?
Good god, I thought he was going to bang the headstock off of the floor or into that desk
That bridge must have been replaced, even if it was in a case since March 1958. Love the look! Cherry Bomb is a better name though...
I’m waiting for Joe to sell me this guitar
Aren't the control covers supposed to be brown?
Yes, first one with black covers... should have mentioned that. Thanks.
If that's all original, why were the pickups uncovered in the poster?
If you look close you'll see the covers are on it in the poster.
@@joemenza6633Yeah, you're right. That's weird that my eyes somehow saw them as uncovered.
Only guitar rarer then that is a blackburst…
not you ripping one of the original pieces of case candy :') amazing video still, but that one hurt
Wait a second, if everyone wanted one back then, why so few sold???

Oops....LOL
Anyone wanna make bets on how long before bonamassa owns it ?
No nibs?
Has Joe Bonamasa seen this?
He's probably the owner
The 2017 Lester I bought is no slouch, it's actually completely BAD-A$$. To me, the new ones sound just as good or even better .

Not a check...wait...quick, put it in the freezer!
lol
Oh man you didn’t plug it in and put some hair on it 😢
That made six
Ok?,Allrigth!
Interesting guitar, irritating commentary
Hard work this video. Sounds like he’s having a stroke as he’s waffling on
Freakin clown show.
Trade u a 2 liter of Mountain Dew for it
Come on man, just play it already. You're talking to us like we're in kindergarten.
Calm down Karen. Some of us can appreciate the history and story.
Most ugly finish they could do.
