This was the first video I watched when you had Special Guest Star Amber but it was the Original David Essex version.Adding Amber to the channel made me subscribe and was pure genius. Michael Damian's version was big back in 1989( I think it was #1) He used to be on a soap opera or something like that. This version is by no means as good as the original but it's ok 😂
I remember this guy from my mom's soap opera in the 80s. I didn't even know he sang. If you enjoy 80s you might want to check out Aldo Nova. He's great.
Back when automated radio stations started to become widespread, I was listening to one, and heard the automated announcer say "David Essex, Rock On". The original version of this song played, then the announcer said "David Essex, Rock On", and...you get the idea. It started in the early evening and went on well into the next day.
Oh my! I forgot about this hunk! I used to watch The Young and the Restless. He was one of the only reasons that I watched it. 😂 I haven't heard this song in forever! Great pick you guys! ❣️✌🏼
Back in 1973, the song "Rock On" had been made an international hit by David Essex, Michael Damian turned it into a #1 hit in 1989. Michael Damian has something in common with another fellow actor who aspired to be a rock star, see, he played a musician/singer Danny Romalotti, on the soap opera, The Young And The Restless. Another well known musician, Rick Springfield, was on a soap opera as well, Springfield played a doctor on General Hospital, but meanwhile was pursuing his career as rock star. I like this version of the song alright but, I heard the original first and I have always loved it.
One year for my birthday my two daughters gave me a VHS tape and it was this song with the original veto autographed by him along with a note wishing me a happy birthday. My girls wrote a letter to him at the Young and the Restless. Now I know maybe someone else at the studio or his fan club whatever signed it etc but still the excitement on their faces is what really counted. So he'll always be a favorite for me.
OMG!!! Never thought I would see a reaction to Michael Damian. I love him...since I was a teenager. Not only does he sing, but he acts too...and is a cast member of The Young and the Restless...where he plays a rock star lol...and he has also become a producer/director of romance movies...along with his wife, Janeen...who was a Solid Gold dancer back in the day.
It’s not bad at all but still not as good as the ORIGINAL BY DAVID ESSEX from 1973! As an 8 or 9 year old, I rushed out (with Mom driving) to the record store to buy this song by David Essex.
My mom has watched the soap opera Young and the restless for years and years. He is an actor on that soap. he left for a while, but he’s back on it now.
The original version by David Essex was just that...original! There's nothing original about this version at all. It's just your typical 80s production and sounds, with fake drums, etc.
I always loved this version - and have had as part of my Halloween Party playlist since I was a kid!! LOL - another song by Michael Damian I like is "WAS IT NOTHING AT ALL" (a bit cheesy, but his voice is so soothing in the song... wow to go back to the 80's/90's and do it all over again... it was a magical time for us lucky ones to have lived through it... (I'm not crying, You're Crying! LOL) Keep smiling y'all!!

Your folks just called their meet place on “the drag.” I grew up in my little town we called it “draggin’ main.” Our Main Street was 3 blocks long and we made a U-turn at each end and just going up and down main. Our girls would run from car to car or just stand in front of our hangouts and just have fun socializing, gossiping, and living the good life. This was the way from early sixties to the late seventies. Hey I sent you an email and album cover pic touting John Sebastian. The first line is; “When the lights go down in the California Town, people go out for the evening.” Have a great night.
I wish I was able to see him on Broadway playing Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Techno Color Dream Coat. I wanted to see Donny Osmond in the part also.
I didn't even know Michael Damien sang this song. I remember an earlier version from the 70s. I remember Michael Damien from the soap The Young and the Restless. I also saw him on Broadway in the "90s in the lead role of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!
Hey guys, Michael Damian was a soap opera actor that appeared on The Young and the Restless and had a #1 hit with this cover of the original song by singer David Essex. Damian hit #1 in 1989 with it!! Unfortunately, it was his only chart single!!
My daughter's loved this song and played it to me. I got my 45 record out and played David Essex out. I told them this is what I listened to and loved as a teenager. I love Michael but David rocks
This song was at number 1 on the pop charts in 1989. Guess who was at number 2, at the same time. None other than Donny Osmond, with his come back hit “Soldier Of Love”. Donny had a very hard time, after his mega success, as a teen idol, in the 70’s. None of the radio stations wanted to give his new music a chance. Until one station decided to play his song, but not say who the artist was, and have their listeners guess. It got so many requests, that when it was revealed, that it was Donny, other stations started playing the song too. And it made it all the way to #2, on the Billboard chart.
OMG!! I’m having flashbacks!!! The other songs I remember from around then that always played was wild Wild West by the escape club, red red wine by ub40- the extended version, INXS, and unbelievable by EMF!!! Yay!! Thanks for the trip!

@@mistymercer7284 Same. Love them both. I miss Corey Haim though. He was so talented. Reminded me of Jonathan Brandis. Very talented and gone too soon.
I always thought this was a cool pop cover of the David Essex song.Michael was also an actor on a soap opera I don’t know which one.
In case no one knows the original David Essex version was reacted by them a couple of years ago. Its probably on this channel somewhere and i think it was Ambers first time on this channel 😊
He’s currently back on The Young and Restless reprising his long running character, rock star Danny Romalotti.
Get David Essex on to show you how its done!
Such a fun song! I'm glad that he's back on 'The Young and The Restless'!
I remember this guy from my mom's soap opera in the 80s. I didn't even know he sang. If you enjoy 80s you might want to check out Aldo Nova. He's great.
Good cover of the David Essex original.
Rob Squad covered the original already!,,
They should have done the Original first, much better IMO
Back when automated radio stations started to become widespread, I was listening to one, and heard the automated announcer say "David Essex, Rock On". The original version of this song played, then the announcer said "David Essex, Rock On", and...you get the idea. It started in the early evening and went on well into the next day.
All right my babies.... I am sure by now you know that this is a cover song I thought it was decently done. ‼️💯😎👍🏻
Oh my! I forgot about this hunk! I used to watch The Young and the Restless. He was one of the only reasons that I watched it. 😂
I haven't heard this song in forever!
Great pick you guys! ❣️✌🏼
Another killer track that I had completely forgotten about... awesome thanks!
I think he was a Soap Opera star at the time. I believe this was a cover.
Yes original done by David Essex they did him already 2 years ago
Yes, Danny Romalotti, a young rock star on Young & The Restless, a role he just recently reprised.
I was about 13 when David Essex was on the radio with this around 73/74. It was super cool! Wow 50 years ago! I'm old!
It’s not bad at all but still not as good as the ORIGINAL BY DAVID ESSEX from 1973! As an 8 or 9 year old, I rushed out (with Mom driving) to the record store to buy this song by David Essex.
Agree
David Essex wrote it and released it in 1973.
This cover went to number one in 1989.
Please play the original some time !
listen to the original by David Essex from the early 70s
My mom has watched the soap opera Young and the restless for years and years. He is an actor on that soap. he left for a while, but he’s back on it now.
This is a fun cover but I do have to agree that David Essex’s original is much better.
Way better!
The original version by David Essex was just that...original! There's nothing original about this version at all. It's just your typical 80s production and sounds, with fake drums, etc.
I kept waiting for you two to realize this a cover of a song you just did not that long ago.
Try the original David Essex❤❤
I always loved this version - and have had as part of my Halloween Party playlist since I was a kid!! LOL - another song by Michael Damian I like is "WAS IT NOTHING AT ALL" (a bit cheesy, but his voice is so soothing in the song... wow to go back to the 80's/90's and do it all over again... it was a magical time for us lucky ones to have lived through it... (I'm not crying, You're Crying! LOL) Keep smiling y'all!!
Great song and artist! I was a fan back in the 80s when he was on Y&R! I had the fortune of meeting him in 1988 at a World of Wheels car show in ATL not long before this was released. Nice guy!
He’s back on Y&R, w/Cricket & Phyllis still fighting over him😅😂
@@thebibagirrrlshow Is Lauralee Bell still playing Cricket?
@@sallyphillips9175Yes they brought her back too, they brought many characters back this past year for Y&R’s 50th anniversary😊
@@thebibagirrrlshow Oh wow! I always liked him with Tracy Abbott, too.
@@sallyphillips9175Tracy is back on there too!
80’s are my favorite, I graduated from HS 1986! So these are my influential years of music!!❤❤ Love the song, plus he airs gorgeous!! Of course he is a soap opera star, kind of looks a little like Rick Springfield in some pics!!❤❤
He was a Soap Opera Star!
Oh yea… I didn’t know what song this was until you started playing it !! Ohhhh yea… You gotta hear the Original …1973 David Essex… haven’t heard it in 20 years, once it started playing I remembered All the Words !!
David Essex - Rock On
Amber... You should play "Soldier of Love" by Donny Osmond. It was his comeback hit in 1989 it hit #2 on the Billboard charts "Rock On" stopped it from going #1
Blindfold Jay... Have him guess the singer... This is how the song was introduced by a Los Angeles RADIO STATION. He will love it! 7:38
Hey if you LOVE The Corey's - they star in one of my all time favourite movies of the 80's - License to Drive. It is NON STOP hilarious - so much fun to watch - with a KILLER movie soundtrack. And the song over the end credits is Get Outta My Dream - Get into My Car (Billy Ocean). It's PERFECT for your movie channel. Pretty PLEASE with a cherry on top????
Think I saw that like 100 times as a kid, loved it.😊
@@the_vile_one. I've been trying to get their attention for the past year to watch it. It's hard with all of their other requests.
You definitely need to check out the original by David Essex.
Michael Damian was the original singer of the “Saved By The Bell” theme song when the first season started airing.
We also need some David Essex he's still a heartthrob ❤❤❤❤❤
This was made during a point in the 80's when soap opera guys were making music -- Rick Springfield, Jack Wagner, Michael Damien were the main ones.
He has a ballad that I absolutely love! Was It Nothing At All.
OMG!! I’m having flashbacks!!! The other songs I remember from around then that always played was wild Wild West by the escape club, red red wine by ub40- the extended version, INXS, and unbelievable by EMF!!! Yay!! Thanks for the trip!
Michael Damian is back on the Young and the Restless again right now. David Essex sang this song first and it's a better version.
One of those iconic songs that came out of the 70's and 80's...
He is from the young and the restless...
You’ve yet to check out anything from the Flamingos, “I Only Have Eyes For You” is a great start!
Great cover of David Essex's song!! Michael Damian is also an actor.... Mostly famous from the Soap Opera "The Young and the Restless". He played a rock star on there too, or did at one point! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Corey Ian Haim was a Canadian actor. He starred in a number of 1980s films, such as Silver Bullet, Murphy's Romance, Lucas, License to Drive and Dream a Little Dream. His role alongside Corey Feldman in The Lost Boys made him a household name.
He passed away from pneumonia with an enlarged heart due to drugs mostly pills in 2010, he was 38.
ok, but I like David Essex's version from the 70's
Fell in love with Michael Damian on The Young and the Restless 😍
A half way decent cover. ✌
Your channel is the best, new member since today! Take care of your beautiful woman. Without her reaction, life is doll. ( you are great to)Love from Sweden!
You two never fail to impress with your choices of reactions. Love y’all ❤❤❤❤❤
Paaaah! You've got to be joking. It's a bad version of a good song.
Their choices are clicking on a suggestion. Why r u impressed with a random click?
By the way, this is a remake - the original was from 1973 by David Essex. There was a slowed down version by a woman who I can't remember, but this version by Michael was the one that blew up most.
David Essex is a better version. Give it a listen 😊
I believe he had an official video for this one, and Corey Feldman was in it. He's back on Y&R by the way. I was shocked to see him in a scene while flipping channels.
The original hit version by David Essex is much better than this, but this is pretty good.
HEY guys soap opera actor Michael Damian followed the footsteps of Rick Springfield and Jack Wagner using your show to your singing ambitions and it worked for him as well his remake reached number one in 1989 the original by David Essex reached number three in 1973 it's a good cover version of this song keep up the great work guys.
This is a cover, have you listened to the original?
Apparently they have reacted to the David Essex original but I guess they forgot about it. Easy to forget a song when you're listening to hundreds of new songs you never heard before I guess.
