When I first played this game, I hated Mary with a passion because she killed Garry. I ended up ignoring her completely. But then my friend and I started making an Ib movie and I got the role of Mary. After trying to act like her and thinking what she would be thinking, I began to feel sorry for her. She's actually a very sad character.

Just to clear a few things up: 1. Mary is comparing Garry to her father solely because they're both "adults" in her eyes. 2. The reason why she tries to leave Garry in the "house" is because that's the only way to leave the "house". In the game, it's explain that to leave, (spoilers I guess) she needs to take someone else's place. Ib was needed because she would need someone to stay with, and Ib was the only child in the "house" at the time, as shown in one of the endings.

Mary is a lonely girl... Anyone can become like Mary... Provided they suffer the same experiences that forces one to desperate measures. Mary is forced to resort to such because of that world, and of desperation. A human will forcibly do anything, no matter how cruel, to achieve that ending. Though gruesome, this is, in the truest sense, proof of Mary's humanity. Her naivety, cruelty, childishness, and even more, the sadness and loneliness of her very self... depicts a human soul. A human is defined not because he or she is human, but rather by one's personality.
That's pretty deep. But still do remember that Mary is not and cannot be a real person, she is merely a painting. Ib and Garry had no choice but to burn her or else she would have killed them. She is insane and just like the other animate creations. Maybe if she haven't snapped she would have lived.

First time I heard this song was when you uploaded it. It has been a few years if I recall I have your singing version in my phone and still can't stop listening. You did an amazing job.
MY FEELS! Mary is my favorite character from Ib, so to see her portrayed as something other than a one-dimensional villain makes me feel so mushy inside... and your voice! The music! Everything is so beautiful. I think I'm crying now.
Mary's my least favourite character of the trio, but I can certainly agree she's more than just a generic villain. I wish they could have all gotten out.
I've always liked Mary, I never understood why people hate her so much, she just wants people to talk to so she is seriously the most hated character of everyone I know who knows this game, I'm just the loner that loves her.

I'm so alike her but her pain must be so much. I myself have been locked into my house for as long as 8 years if I can remember, not knowing true light of nature and people's hearts. She, being locked into her own dimension, have finally met with genuine souls which she soon tries to befriend and they only ended up hating her, forgetting her existence, destroying her world, introducing to her greater loneliness. IMAGINE HOW MUCH PAIN SHE FELT JUST MEETING HER FIRST FRIENDS THAT JUST WANNA GET AWAY FROM HER AND SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHY!!!!!!

The whole point of the game is that " all you need is a friend to guide your way through fear and lost " I think garry is almost a father to Ib. Ib was so scared and lost and i can tell as she is a 9 year old. Mary just wanted a friend because she was trapped so long, Mary didnt know that she couldnt escape, even when she took places with someone from outside. She likes all her friends coming to live with her, but she wanted to escape herself. Garry would even give up his rose for getting I'bs back. They were together untill the end. Garry, I could tell would be a good father. I know its not this kind of love, but they have a friendship/father love.
Poor Mary... :( I know that she can't go out (even if there is an ending where she leave..), she is a painting and she must stay there but imagine an ending where Garry & Ib don't burn her but just tell her they like her. She vanished and she go back in her canvas. And after leaving the guertena's World, Garry & Ib come back to the Gallery to see Mary, she would be so happy (and she deserves it) ! I like your accent - it sounds exactly like how I imagined Mary would sound. The lyrics are also really touching. As for Mary, I never really liked her, but I feel sorry for her and her world of death and pain. She will never be forgiven for what's she done, but she deserves at a least bit of pity. I prefer Ib as my favorite character, though.

This is soo pretty. The mix of the violin and the music box is really nice. (It gives a kind of creepy, sad, and pretty sound to it XD) And your lyrics. Amg. They're really, really nice. i am listening to this for months and didnt get bored of it yet. Your work is amazing and so is your voice. i liked better with the crying tone at the end. Thank you very much for this masterpiece. my fav theory is that garry is guertena son(similar hair color) and he was originaly locked up by his father in the painting world when he was a kid. the artist draw mary so she keep company with garry instead of letting him out.i think garry is the one who created the blu doll for mary or something(notice the doll love blu and always want to play with garry) when Guertena died garry was able to leave and he lost his memory to come back years later when rich poeple collected all the artist works and setup the Gallery. mary herself disliked him and didnt act on it so they dont know she is a painting but instead asking IB about him later.She warned IB about some of the bad ideas like destroying the manniqan head, she cared about her. she didnt care when he was traped in the doll room losing his memory after reading a book about her. but instead she freaks out when he remembered later. i know its messy every where but i like to believe it that way
I find it interesting how most people tend to hate Mary, but if you look in her room *where she kept her picture frame* she just wanted to make friends, and get out... Not matter what, only 2 people at max can get out of that the Fabricated World together~
Just imagine... Being created and being stuck in a place that has only fellow paintings and no one new to see, nothing ever changing, never aging... I would be insane like Mary was considered to be if I'd gone through that. I still have to say that she kind of needed to be killed in the story so that she wouldn't have to go on for an eternity longing to meet her father who would never come back.

It’s been a wile since I saw IB (I watched a complete game play with the true (?) ending where IB and Gary reunite) and I really like Mary, she was a very good antagonist, yet she was so lonely and sad, I was literally so sad when she died in the route I saw, and never have I even liked an antagonist like her, IB is such a good game aaaa-
if Garry really was Guertena's descendant, as implied in this song, then Guertena was more messed up than I thought. He basically traded his real kid for the child he painted. With the whole exchange thing outlined in one of the books, as well as the fact that Garry had the impossible blue rose while Mary had perfectly normal yellow rose, he rejected reality and substituted it with his own. the titular character Ib is basically just a bystander in this twisted ritual.
Poor Mary. I'd have to agree with a lot of people with the fact that Mary is so misunderstood. Sure she wasn't the best moral wise( I mean she does try to kill Gary by plucking all of the petals of his flower in alternate endings of the game. Also she does act a little crazy when we find out who/what she really is), but she just wants to live in the real world because it's boring( and a bit scary to most of us) in the art world. She also wants to be in the real world with Ib because she sees her as a friend she really wants to be with. As well as to be with her father. But in the true ending she gets *burned alive*, left to burn into ashes all alone. :'( I believe the reason she tries to go to the real world with Ib( and leave Gary behind) is because in order for her to leave the art world and go into the real world, someone *has* to be left behind( plus she doesn't know this, but she also needs to be with someone from the real world in order to actually go there) I'll admit that this is kinda sad, but I didn't write the game's story and how everything in that world works. I just wish that there was a way for everyone to get a happy ending. Including Mary. :'(
Adding to this, it also helps in explaining why Garry was sucked into the painting too. I mean Ib probably because Mary wanted a friend, but why Gary? It's not like it sucked in people at random, seemingly, or just everyone. So why them? Maybe it's like they were chosen moreso than otherwise. And your great-great grandson theory is good too adding, just only a bit in the song who knows otherwise but, it said "why he RESEMBLES" so it's not like they look exactly the same, just similar.
Even if Mary was the one turning out to be the bad guy in the trio, she was my favorite, even if she was evil, all she just wanted was friends and to see what the outside world was like, when you get the ending with Mary leaving the world and into the "Real World" she cannot escape, for she is a painting, and paintings do not belong in the real world with people.
Lets do this Vocaloid wise, I thought it would be cool. Mary is Rin Kaito is Gary Meiko is Ib The painter aka the father is Len Okay lets pretend they are not in a gallery that's evil and stuff, lets go back to Daughter of Evil and pretend that Rin and Len was born born again in a different time period like this one. Rin and Len were noble to each other, and Len was her brother however Len dies and Rin becomes depressed and made her own little wonderland maze in the basement of the mansion they live in. And her family becomes really cruel to her, so she invites people down in her wonderland and Meiko and Kaito were there to tour the mansion but Meiko and Kaito doesn't meet until they are in the maze. Like the gallery, there are monsters, and traps so Kaito is attacked by one of the monsters, and he was going to die without any medical attention so Meiko finds things to heal Kaito. And there, Meiko and Kaito meet. Afterwards, they meet Rin and she starts to dislike Kaito a little because she thinks she know him before. Even though the Daughter of Evil Rin was sorry for what she has done, a little part of her might have been in love with Kaito. So, lets say Mary Rin gets a voice from Daughter of Evil Rin that Kaito is the person who rejected her proposal and now Mary Rin wants Meiko out of the picture so she can live happily ever after with Kaito. (Mary wants to leave the gallery, and live happily ever after so that's why I put Rin wants to be with Kaito)

She is considered the "bad" guy in the game, but really, she just wanted to be loved and didn't want to be alone anymore. She's a lot like Ellen in that aspect (Witch's House). Ellen had a more... drastic.... way of attaining her goal, but really, she didn't want to be all by herself and unloved anymore. So yes, she is, but she had a reason for doing what she did.
Actually....she tried to take Ib's rose away so SHE ALONE can go to the real world...that's why she asked Mary whether she would rather go back to the gallery with her or Garry. (people who don't know the story fully should shut up...) Nice song though!

Mary just wanted a friend because she was trapped so long, Mary didnt know that she couldnt escape, even when she took places with someone from outside. She likes all her friends coming to live with her, but she wanted to escape herself. Garry would even give up his rose for getting I'bs back. They were together untill the end. Garry, I could tell would be a good father. I know its not this kind of love, but they have a friendship/father love.
Poor Mary... :( I know that she can't go out (even if there is an ending where she leave..), she is a painting and she must stay there but imagine an ending where Garry & Ib don't burn her but just tell her they like her. She vanished and she go back in her canvas. And after leaving the guertena's World, Garry & Ib come back to the Gallery to see Mary, she would be so happy (and she deserves it) ! That would be a real Good Ending.

As for Mary, I never really liked her, but I feel sorry for her and her world of death and pain. She will never be forgiven for what's she done, but she deserves at a least bit of pity. I prefer Ib as my favorite character, though.

my fav theory is that garry is guertena son(similar hair color) and he was originaly locked up by his father in the painting world when he was a kid. the artist draw mary so she keep company with garry instead of letting him out.i think garry is the one who created the blu doll for mary or something(notice the doll love blu and always want to play with garry) when Guertena died garry was able to leave and he lost his memory to come back years later when rich poeple collected all the artist works and setup the Gallery.
mary herself disliked him and didnt act on it so they dont know she is a painting but instead asking IB about him later.She warned IB about some of the bad ideas like destroying the manniqan head, she cared about her. she didnt care when he was traped in the doll room losing his memory after reading a book about her. but instead she freaks out when he remembered later.

Just imagine... Being created and being stuck in a place that has only fellow paintings and no one new to see, nothing ever changing, never aging... I would be insane like Mary was considered to be if I'd gone through that.
I still have to say that she kind of needed to be killed in the story so that she wouldn't have to go on for an eternity longing to meet her father who would never come back.

It’s been a wile since I saw IB (I watched a complete game play with the true (?) ending where IB and Gary reunite) and I really like Mary, she was a very good antagonist, yet she was so lonely and sad, I was literally so sad when she died in the route I saw, and never have I even liked an antagonist like her, IB is such a good game aaaa-
if Garry really was Guertena's descendant, as implied in this song, then Guertena was more messed up than I thought. He basically traded his real kid for the child he painted. With the whole exchange thing outlined in one of the books, as well as the fact that Garry had the impossible blue rose while Mary had perfectly normal yellow rose, he rejected reality and substituted it with his own. the titular character Ib is basically just a bystander in this twisted ritual.

Poor Mary. I'd have to agree with a lot of people with the fact that Mary is so misunderstood.
Sure she wasn't the best moral wise( I mean she does try to kill Gary by plucking all of the petals of his flower in alternate endings of the game. Also she does act a little crazy when we find out who/what she really is), but she just wants to live in the real world because it's boring( and a bit scary to most of us) in the art world. She also wants to be in the real world with Ib because she sees her as a friend she really wants to be with. As well as to be with her father. But in the true ending she gets *burned alive*, left to burn into ashes all alone. :'(
I believe the reason she tries to go to the real world with Ib( and leave Gary behind) is because in order for her to leave the art world and go into the real world, someone *has* to be left behind( plus she doesn't know this, but she also needs to be with someone from the real world in order to actually go there) I'll admit that this is kinda sad, but I didn't write the game's story and how everything in that world works. I just wish that there was a way for everyone to get a happy ending. Including Mary. :'(

Adding to this, it also helps in explaining why Garry was sucked into the painting too. I mean Ib probably because Mary wanted a friend, but why Gary? It's not like it sucked in people at random, seemingly, or just everyone.
So why them? Maybe it's like they were chosen moreso than otherwise.
And your great-great grandson theory is good too adding, just only a bit in the song who knows otherwise but, it said "why he RESEMBLES" so it's not like they look exactly the same, just similar.
Even if Mary was the one turning out to be the bad guy in the trio, she was my favorite, even if she was evil, all she just wanted was friends and to see what the outside world was like, when you get the ending with Mary leaving the world and into the "Real World" she cannot escape, for she is a painting, and paintings do not belong in the real world with people.

Okay lets pretend they are not in a gallery that's evil and stuff, lets go back to Daughter of Evil and pretend that Rin and Len was born born again in a different time period like this one. Rin and Len were noble to each other, and Len was her brother however Len dies and Rin becomes depressed and made her own little wonderland maze in the basement of the mansion they live in. And her family becomes really cruel to her, so she invites people down in her wonderland and Meiko and Kaito were there to tour the mansion but Meiko and Kaito doesn't meet until they are in the maze. Like the gallery, there are monsters, and traps so Kaito is attacked by one of the monsters, and he was going to die without any medical attention so Meiko finds things to heal Kaito. And there, Meiko and Kaito meet. Afterwards, they meet Rin and she starts to dislike Kaito a little because she thinks she know him before. Even though the Daughter of Evil Rin was sorry for what she has done, a little part of her might have been in love with Kaito. So, lets say Mary Rin gets a voice from Daughter of Evil Rin that Kaito is the person who rejected her proposal and now Mary Rin wants Meiko out of the picture so she can live happily ever after with Kaito. (Mary wants to leave the gallery, and live happily ever after so that's why I put Rin wants to be with Kaito)

She is considered the "bad" guy in the game, but really, she just wanted to be loved and didn't want to be alone anymore. She's a lot like Ellen in that aspect (Witch's House). Ellen had a more... drastic.... way of attaining her goal, but really, she didn't want to be all by herself and unloved anymore. So yes, she is, but she had a reason for doing what she did.
Actually....she tried to take Ib's rose away so SHE ALONE can go to the real world...that's why she asked Mary whether she would rather go back to the gallery with her or Garry. (people who don't know the story fully should shut up...) Nice song though!
