    "With the red light cameras, the plate can cause a glare." That's not the cover's fault. The cover on my car is absolutely fine, it's the camera's fault for trying to capture my tag.

    police are making money because the minute you accept the "privilege" of a licence, you've also signed a contract with the government to pay taxes, licensing fees, and any sort of extortion that they choose to hold you accountable for. we are ALL being manipulated with "guilt by absentia" every time we "forget" a court date or fail to clear the snow off of the license plate.

      If you correct your signature on your Driver's license to be for a private use, instead of a public use, you can make any ticket go away. Any agreement you sign, ownerships, and other public offers(insurance) where you are the only one signing it can be corrected by adding"without prejudice" above or before your autograph. You have now made no promise to perform and anything signed this way cannot be used against you in a court of law. They may still give you a ticket, as under their public code you are guilty until you prove your self innocent. You then serve copies of your without prejudice copies on the Crown and Court to prove you made no promises to perform with a note explaining this and they ticket will go away. You cannot appear in these lower courts if you do this private remedy.

  • @DreadlockDrummer
    @DreadlockDrummer 8 лет назад +48

    my problem with this is that it's illegal to drive with them, so police give the drivers tickets and fines, but if its really such a big concern to the police, why don't they go after the stores that sell them and the dealerships that install them, and make it illegal to install and sell them? Until that happens, i will always say that the police are being unreasonable and its a straight up cash grab. I bought one of the full cover ones once from canadian tire because i thought it looked cool, i was pulled over by an officer who told me that i needed to remove it because it was illegal, when i told him i bought it from canadian tire, he told me that the law states that its not illegal to sell or install them, only to drive with them on. that to me seems very unreasonable, if you're going to make it illegal to drive with, and give the public a bunch of reasons why, then also make it illegal to sell and install.

    The plates on my car are 33 years old. So old they are made of steel and not aluminum, and the paint is non reflective which is not the case today. They were on my very first car I bought in 1982. The reason they have lasted so long is because I've always had plate covers on them.

    The Toronto Police say automated enforcement is part of a broader strategy meant to curb dangerous driving. It doesn't take a genius to see through that. It's a broad strategy to increase revenue by ticketing people. Look into how much revenue was lost during the lockdowns when hardly any cars were on the road.

    The Plastic License Plate Cover does protect The actual plate from rust and corrosion during the Winter Season. I live in Detroit Michigan USA and have used them since 1990. Michigan now requires a Ten Year Purchase of a new license plate automatically using the reasoning that the exposed license plate has rusted and loss its reflective properties.

    Anyone getting a ticket for a license plate cover that does NOT obstruct the reading of the plate in any way should take their case before a judge, as THAT is the legal standard. It is that simple! If the cover does not make the tag difficult or impossible to read, it is perfectly legal. However, I do see some people driving around with "clear" covers that are so foggy that they actually DO make the plate difficult or impossible to read. I think they know this and seek out that type of cover on purpose, and for some reason they do not want anyone to be able to obtain their license number. Maybe they are committing some type of crime ?

    Sometimes I see them so dark that you can not read the plate at all. The penalty for that should be a mandatory one year suspension of license and registration!!! If they do it again, make it two years (add another year every time to what the sentence was last time).

      a clear one? not even tinted? ive read the law states u cant have anything obstructing the view of license plates, not saying u cant have anything "on it" provided it doesnt obscure it?

  • @jono601
    @jono601 Год назад

    typical police bullshit. Just send a letter to all dealerships barring them you would prevent 99% of people from owning license plate covers to begin with. But then that wouldn't give the police the power trip to fine people at will.

    That guy is wrong, his plate is NOT as visible with the cover on. His cover is either tinted or has become discolored. I see people all the time with covers that are much, much more tinted/discolored than the guy's plate in the video and that you have to pretty much tailgate the person if you wanted to read their plate. I have discovered that many people are buying these to make it harder for red light cameras and speed cameras to read their plates. While I am not a fan of cameras, I do believe everyone's plate should be equally readable. I don't need to be struggling to read the plate of a hit and run driver who is speeding off, or whatever. And come on, if his plate really deteriorates as much as the one he showed in just a year, then there's something terribly wrong with how they're making the plate. I live in Georgia/United States and have NEVER had any issues with plates getting worn like that -- even after a decade or more. You should not need a cover.

    C D ROWE definitely did not have a “clear” cover. It would make it harder to read the plate at night.

      its clear enough browski, and its definitely just as easy to read at night.
