That double turn of shooting is absolutely devastating. There are so few armies that are even capable of this level of shooting. I get why the double turn is a thing, but after seeing videos like this I just want it to not be a thing.
My best buddy and me always play AoS with alternating turns like classical Warhammer Fantasy. In truth most times we forgot the random turn rule so we made an easy agrement. I also hope GW will fix it in the 3rd Edition. Nobody would feel sorry about it and its prevent games just like this here.
They're easily the worst thing in this game, aside from the power creep. It sucks hard to get shot twice with nothing you could do about it, or having your opponent just steamroll your entire army without even being able to move.
Well he could have avoided the first round of stand and shoot had he just used his battalion ability and piled in 6" rather than charge and allow them to stand and shoot. Why take a batallion if you aren't going to use the special ability?
@@orabbi True. In addition, why not wait and stand back until objectif drop, forcing the shooter to commit and break their formation? I think he freaked out, his turn 2 was just undoing the turn 1...
the command trait (Hawk Eyed) from tempest eyes can add 1 to wound for missile attacks. Also, Celestial Hurricanum with Celestial Battlemage can add 1 to hit and casting rolls. With few battlemage for the magic attack, cos is very op. Oops I forget freeguild general for handgunner :)
good game good battle report thanks. in the future when this pandemic thing calm down could you do an aos siege or a thriumph and treachery battle report please
Vito, quick bit of feedback for you there TOP GUN. I just wanted to talk about your use of Shalaxi (Tom Cruise). You had ALL THE RIGHT MOVES in the early game with getting him up the field but placing it close to the gun line was RISKY BUSINESS. He's a LEGEND of a piece but sending him into the guns like that was MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE! Not sure if you were playing with EYES WIDE SHUT or just feeling like LOSIN IT?
I think your biggest mistake Was turn 1 movement Phase. You could have easily placed your units outside of shooting Ränge to Form up for big Charge on turn 2. Handgunners only have 16 inch range, Irondrakes 20. Pribably the only Thing that could have really shot at you would have been the Ballistas with the Single shot. And 20 inches are easily crossed by a Slaanesh army. And don't send your valuable units First to Charge into handgunners. They can stand and shoot only once if there is no enemy nearby. So either Release the volley on the First unit charging or Do not fire at all because they are in close Combat After the First Charge.
They really bloody are. It just feels unsportsman like to have one too, at least in my oppionion. As much as I love Cities of Sigmar, Matt's army seems to be overly reliant on the double turn. if the keeper of secrets got into range on that turn, it would have been game over for that flank. Also, Vito could have future proofed a little better. Not much to do with the double turn, but maybe make it so the iron drakes have to move in order to get into range for their guns and cut down on one attack.
its the most tactical mechanic in AoS/40k because you can win by commiting at the right point or losing by overcommiting at the wrong time. Without it its just a bland „I walk back and shoot“ - at least for shooting armies
Honestly, once you are used to it, build lists, and use tactics knowing you could be double turned on, its a cool extra strategical layer added to the game. But the problem is not all armies can do that. CoS, BoC, StD, IDK, DoK all can use the double turn effectively if they get it or receive it. With that said they need to give the player that has been double turn one sometype of bonus other than "move an Endless spell first".
You need them to counter Slaanesh though, you fight last against Slaanesh and you need to get rid of their summon abilities ASAP. Either you shoot them or you lose.
Matt, either stop randomly yelling or equalize the audio. You’re blowing my ears out when I wear headphones. It’s all quiet talking quiet talking OOO NOOO MY ROLL SUCKS. It’s physically painful. Please equalize the audio.
literally why would you charge the handgunners rather than use your pile in and avoid their free shooting? I looked at that cities list and instantly developed cancer. It's 40k's fuck melee transferred into AoS. I'm all for themed armies, but when they happen to contain a huge amount of disgusting units that "just so happen" to have amazing synergies I can't help but doubt if theme was really the intent behind the list.
@Lorenzo Panza If their ability states you can pile in six inches and are eligible to pile in while within six inches then yes you can. Vito even discusses it in the beginning of the video. There are a number of units in AoS that can do this. Khorgus Khul can pile in 8 inches away. And my point was not that the lists synergies are the absolute best available in the game. My point is that Mathew downplays the power of the lists he takes, pretending the choices are purely fluffy while actually taking rather brutal combos. I love high level tactical play, I do not like when people are dishonest about that being what they are doing, especially when the opponent is running a very sub optimal, actually fluffy, list.
Not really. If you're following the rules to the letter it has a lot of setup and the power creep with the newer stuff is insane. If you're playing an older army you have very little chance of winning unless you build your list to counter your opponent.
This is a perfect representation of the absurdity of the double turn nonsense. It promotes building one sided armies when most can be pretty diverse, its lazy and I hate it
Dude your storage in impressive, do a tour video sometimes :)
The Last Samurai references had me tearing up all over again...

So nice with the introduction of why they fought! I really liked this one. Nice length of the video also.

I don't get why it's a thing, could you explain any of its benefits to me?

i hope in the next edition, double turn wont exist.
brutal. I LOVE IT! x) besides that, that doubleturn for shooting armies is a funkiller as usual x(
This is the problem with shooting in aos. There's nothing you can do against it, especially if you get double turned.
Yep, as someone with a shooting COS army for events, its stupidly OP. All shooting needs a small price hike for now.

The sheer amount of shooting/ damage is crazy! Personally I would of given away turn 3 if I was CoS and played for the double going into round 4 👍🏻
So entertaining, the vault is such value
Love the banner art! Real detailed work, you should definitely commission them.
Wow I didn't expect that huge ass Hall of storage! Gotta do a video tour of it!
what a massacre that turn was
Correct me if I’m wrong but are the dispossessed basically old world dwarfs? I’m not really familiar with AoS lore.
They are some of them, not all of them.
good game good battle report thanks.

Double turns seem like an odd mechanic

Yea, I never liked it either.

shooting armies are the worst to deal with! as Matt said this wasnt even a optimal list and still was very overpowered.

What game mat is this?
Why are the seekers battleline? In a godseeker army only seeker chariots are an additional battleline, i think.
Hellstriders (mortal seekers) are battleline, Seekers are not.
Last charge of the light brigade ...
This is one of the most heinous things I have ever watched. Is this even fun to play?
