At 13:02, you have connected the screen while the battery was connected and probably the device had booted already. The screen might have skipped any initialization commands from the chipset during boot, so the screen was appearing not to turn on. However, the second time you seated the screen you did disconnect the battery first and then connected the screen which returned things normal.
I absolutely love this explosion of retro handheld devices we've had in the last few years. It's so competitive at this point that you can get extemeley well built devices at almost any price point.
Except for the charge ports, they may not be extremely well built. Sure, it is possible that the previous owner tried to cram an entire Muppet into their pocket along with the handheld, and the Muppet tried to f**k the charging port, but if your USB C port breaks in 4 months, you're doing something wrong, or it's not an extremely well built handheld. Besides the buttons, the charging port should be the beefiest part of a handheld and it shouldn't break easily. There isn't even the possible excuse of plugging it in upside down.
@@Boogie_the_cat Have you ever gotten your hands on an Anbernic aluminum, Miyoo, or Powkiddy handheld? That's only naming a few and they are all excellent. They are all extremely well built. I have no idea where you are getting the idea that the charging port is the only thing that is well built. Do you also think the same about the Steam Deck, Asus Ally, and new Odin? You should really do some research before spouting off incorrect information.
Hey buddy, just wanted to say thanks, been going to some medical issues the last couple months and your videos have really helped keep my mental state while going threw all these medical visits. please keep up the amazing work!
Phew. I’m glad you stopped the fade. I don’t know how much louder I could have yelled at my screen to have you check if that LED was lit. Good fix. PS: Dave did a bang up job holding onto that D1.
i used to never skip your songs but since you've got a lot more supporters the songs are just a bunch of names in a row. no hate or anything, that's how it goes when you get more successful. love your videos and been a long time fan!
I recently came across on Amazon USB-C silicon plugs with an adhesive strip to attach to the device. Maybe worthwhile to buy a few. This way you can have it in your pocket without worrying of other things like keys in the pocket stabbing and breaking the port again. Your soldering skills have much improved!
Yay, I'm honestly ecstatic to see you are finally working on an Anbernic device. I haven't seen any reputable YT creators that have actually done a good job at even going over the device.
This is the only song I haven't skipped. Banger! I reckon you need to boost your upper mid frequencies so your vocals stand out from the backing track. I promise not to skip if you do :P
Steve can you do a video of the usb c /hdmi kits u have and the capacitors/filers fuses kits you recommend for bigginners I enjoy fixing my own stuff. Got myself a digital microscope for 70 quid edm9 pro hdmi. Your channel has me wanting to fix more I have a pile of things to fix lol thanks keep up the good work
That is standardisation. When that happens, you need various versions of the standard for different applications. If it wasn't standardised, then every variation that you see there would have a different connector. The fact there are so many usb c pin variations is actually what we want. The only "non standard" USB-C thats actually incompatible with the others is the PS5 controller. Otherwise you could technically bodge any of them in should you desire.
I just gone one of these. Mine was dead in arrival due to the memory card being fake. Once i replaced it it has become my favorite little handheld. Im playing Pokemon trading card game 2 on mine as i type this.
I have Anbernic RG351M which has metal casing. Anbernic devices are absolutely the best - super sturdy, reliable and powerful enough for what i'm using them which is classic games emulation. Simply love them.
I never saw all these portable consoles you repair. I had no idea there were so many. I wish I knew more about them. I play with emulators on pc but having one of these consoles could be great! I wish I knew which is the best...expecially for snes roms.
Where did your love of hiphop come from? I always thought it was just a gag or whatever but you're out here name dropping Sticky Fingaz from Onyx. Real one.
Hi Steve, great fix video mate, on another note, may I ask where you got that assortment of usb connectors in the box, I’d like to get some thanks 🤙🏼🇦🇺 Joe from Australia 🤙🏼🇦🇺
Thanks for the entertaining vids, as ever. Your Microphone needs an earth connection mate, on my TV and amplifier the 50Hz hum was vibrating my under-carriage.
I recently picked up the bigger brother to this, this RG35XX and it's amazing with custom firmware. I'm sure there is some for this as well. Well done!
Hey Steve, totally loving these videos! Recently i cant stop watching them and wanted to start to fix some weird things myself. Are there any videos/instructions that you would recommend on getting started? I have no idea about electronics but i‘m eager to learn =) Thanks for the entertaining and actually also educational videos!
Two things from me: first is that I love my RG Nano! I really didn’t think I would, but it’s been great for one-handed Pokémon on the commute. Secondly, that’s by far the dankest, stickiest rhyme so far. Great job.
Hello, I follow you since a little time now and I find electronics interesting, do you have any suggestion where I can learn some pls? Online if possible, don't rrally have a lot of time for a school
10/10 for the t-shirt. When you know, you know...let's hit it hard and fast, and I mean fast with a leaflet campaign.
I thought thats what it was HAHA. Chameleonic life forms? No thanks!

Olá! O meu liga mas não dá sistema. Vc sabe me dizer o q poderia ser?

Wish we had these 15 years ago, I've always wanted something like this when I was a kid.

You're never on your own mate 👍
All the best to you
Highlight of my weekend these videos wait for them every Saturday x 😊
Speedy recovery!
Go well darlin’ and blessed be. 🙏 💕
I always 3d print small flexible covers that snap into those power points. It save all the crap and damage in the port.
Instant thumbs up for Red Dwarf!
Phew. I’m glad you stopped the fade. I don’t know how much louder I could have yelled at my screen to have you check if that LED was lit. Good fix. PS: Dave did a bang up job holding onto that D1.
Yes, I was pointing at the screen for the opaque bit of plastic which would diffuse the charging LED when it's put back over the port 😅
Love the Red Dwarf reference 😉
My favorite part of this video is the Give Quiche a Chance t-shirt. 😂
yeah. This is Arnold Rimmer's T shirt I seem to remember. Im guessing Steve also knows all the verses of the Arnold Rimmer Anthem LOL
@@logothaironsides2942 I propose we hit it hard and we hit it fast, with a major, and I mean major, leaflet campaign.
Dwayne Dibbly is my fav.. Steve where did u get the shirt it's awesome.. one of my fav episodes.. but let's circle back to that lol

Ha! I yelled at the screen “but what about the LED?!” and it was like Steve heard me and interrupted his fade out. Excellent fix, fun rap today too!
I find this therapeutic. In the chaos of life fixing things brings it all together.

Nice try Mr USB-C silicon plug pusher inc!
@@TheSoapyJew Oh no! Nothing gets over your head, your reflexes are too fast!
I didn't know you were a Red Dwarf fan ? ! 😄 Love the T-shirt !
It's great when you have the right component in a tub to fix something straight away. Well done on another fix.
Love Red Dwarf 😂😂
That's cause we're the smart party
Give Quiche a Chance Smegheads ❤❤❤
Yay, I'm honestly ecstatic to see you are finally working on an Anbernic device. I haven't seen any reputable YT creators that have actually done a good job at even going over the device.
It’s always good to illuminate your ring. Great music by the way, looking forward to the album.

Your crooning of the Glade Plug-In jingle just flooded my brain with old commercials. That was weird. :D
Probably one of the best song/raps you’ve done.
These last few beats to your raps have been 🔥 🔥 🔥
Love the T shirt. Fond memories watching the TV show and talking about it with my mates at school
Superb t-shirt in this one, Steve.
Well done bodge, and thanks for transporting me back to 80s music.
My first shout out in the intro rap! Totally worth it.
Great t-shirt! Love Red Dwarf.
Awesome patreon song there!!! I hope no one actually skips it cause you're really missing out on something special!!
Once the jam starts I always forget I'm watching a fix it vid ....I'm just jamming out ..let's go !
Love the deep cut Red Dwarf shirt 👌
I have mutiple Anbernic devices and one won't charge at all so this also helps to try and troubleshoot it.
I've got a couple of them now and I really like them. I guess it's more often than not going to be a faulty port, but you never know!
I am not skipping. I'm love it
I have to say, I never knew they're so many different USB ports. Sad they didn't "Standardize" them... Thumbs Up!

Yo Steve, the best rap to date!! Props for the Dj Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince reference! Keep up the good work
No way! I've been on the lookout for a broken RG Nano for the last couple months. Vicarious repair saves me some money and pain though; thank you.
That rap... I dig it, best one so far 👌
I watched some of your first videos last night. A lot has changed Steve ;)
Well done Steve, always a pleasure to see your combination of experience, humility and intuition work its magic.

that 80s guitar solo around the 10 minute mark was awesome.

thanks for an idea
That sign of melted things is great :D
Just curious if you find aluminum tape better than kapton tape for heat protection,
Or is it just for ease of use
@Steve what kind of aluminum tape do you use?
I love your auditionns😁
