Tongan here in Japan love seeing more and more people discover the beautiful island I will be taking my hubby over to see Tonga for the first time next year. Hope you enjoyed your time there 😊
cool! I'm really liking Tonga. I went out to a few island caves today and did some snorkeling. There's so much to see here and nobody around. It's like a major tourist destination with no tourists, haha. Cheers! I think I'll be stopping by Vancouver on my way back to Ontario eventually.
@@DanDoesKorea well glad you like it! alot of my canadian friends....would never know where tonga is! ....... whatever country you vist.. i hope youll live like a local, embrace the food(taste local food...so we see what you think!), culture, and language... and see what you can learn!. hope your travels are good my friend! all love! ofas!
8:52 I stayed at The Village Backpacker right behind 3 Men’s. I was adopted from Tonga as a baby and just recently went back for the first time in my life. This video was very helpful before I left. Just wanted to show my appreciation. Thank you.
I visited Tonga in 2019. It was such an honor to actually set my foot on their soil. We visited a beach where there is a reef quite nearby. Had some Maka beer too. It's good beer
Tonga voted against Japan in whale fishing! Japan was disappointed but they never stop helping Tonga! They have been helping Tonga far before the whaling was banned internationally It shows how good Japan has come since the ww2! Unlike China!!! Either you are with us or else!!!
😂The little rooftop you stopped at when it was raining 🌧️ is my bothers house in Tofoa right across was another location of the Flying foxes on that mango tree i guess they trimmed it down. Thanks for the video
I came across this video. I have to say, Tonga looks completely different from when I was there before lockdown. I'm sure their still doing some renovations since the tsunami. Also, with the non t-shirt thing. You're allowed to walk without a t-shirt at the village your village. Down town it's considered disrespectful. But you won't get arrested for it. You're mostlikely to only get told off.😂 Also, relating to the church topic. That guy Tonny needs to check himself. He was probably was angry at someone at church that he told you those lies!🤦♀😂 Tonga is a free country. If you don't go to church you don't go to church. You don't get arrested not going to church. Every single person in Tonga believe in God. They don't believe that we're monkeys.😂 God is Tonga's foundation. And that's that. Tonga is a christian Nation. We do not want to westernise our Country. But, think of the Western countries. We have our freedom being christians. And we also have our culture and our customs.
Hi! All is safe on the island. Biggest danger is falling coconuts. Miss all you guys too :) if I have enough money left, I’ll try and stop by korea at the end of the trip :)
Beautiful kingdom, I went there in the 90s. We helped build some library, clinic and painted the church. We meet the king they treated us with a feast and drank some Kava too. LOL.
Oh I did try Tongan food. I was there for a couple months. I just never made a video about it. You are right, I should have done some filming with Tongan food. Next visit I will! haha Malo e lelei!
@@DanDoesKorea A relatively short trip....gonna be tough leaving? is it because of the people you've befriended, or the logistics? Stay safe and enjoy your journey!
Japan never "sent" cars to Tonga. Anyone can purchase a car from Japan on the net, it's the cheapest way to import a car. And so also spare parts are readily available.
Thanks for clarifying:) I was surprised by the lack of scooters and motorcycles in Tonga. Someone explained to me it’s because it’s hard to get them fixed. No parts around.
It good that I know that having your t shirt off is against the law I'm on my why to Tonga next week I'm in Samoa at the moment I was walking around the village with just a lavalava and no t shirt and everybody looks ok with it plus I see alot of shirtless dudes here😂😂, I guess different culture and way of life
I think it's not a big deal if you are a tourist. Nobody is going to throw you in handcuffs for having a shirt off. haha. but I wouldn't go walking around in town topless :)
Now that I think of it, they say “bye” because when passing by or crossing one another in public, translated from Tongan to English is literally “you go”, which sounds rude in English, but really is considered rude if one was to cross or pass by silently (even by strangers), I see now that they adopted the word “bye” for foreigners. Interesting.
Hey man, I was in Tonga less than a month ago, 60% of Tongans belong to the Latter-Day Saints, with the exception being the Free Church and Catholic Church in Nuku'alofa, almost of Tonga are 85% plus are Christian, the Catholic churches you were referring to are Mormon temples but that is okay...Hope you enjoyed Tonga !!!!

And she was sooo nice! I had a nice long chat with the two of them:)
Spent a few months in Tonga way back in 1995, love Tonga and love Tongans!

You didn’t go upstairs at the Market??
No. Is there stuff up there? I didn’t know :(
@@DanDoesKorea no worries. It’s like clothes and store upstairs in that market.
@@sisilialaukauamanu4789 thanks! I will remember that next time I’m in Nuku’alofa:)
Great video Dan. Love it
Thanks Jord!
Sorry I didn't get back to your video chat the other day. Internet on the island is not always on. We can arrange another call sometime soon.
I dont know who told you that Tongans aren't actually religious. I've never met a Tongan who wasn't a Bible believing Christian.

Thanks for the info. I wasn’t really worried about being arrested for taking my shirt off, but found it interesting that it’s illegal haha
I can love and respect their law of no shirts off. Shalom
Thanks for showing me the church because I lived there for 8yrs and I never seen the inside lol
I wanted to get inside. But couldn’t find a way in. I didn’t get to see until I looked at the idea later haha
@@DanDoesKorea great videos man!!! Keep it up
Thanks so much! A few more Tonga videos left to go, then on to somewhere else. Secret for now haha

Bro how much you pay for that burger 🍔 USD? It’ll help give us viewers curious, an idea on the cost of tourism there for vacations .
Beautiful kingdom, I went there in the 90s. We helped build some library, clinic and painted the church. We meet the king they treated us with a feast and drank some Kava too. LOL.
Very cool! I got to try the kava one of my last nights there, but never got to meet or see the king
Delicious video! If some day you decide to go to Siberia in Russia just type me
Siberia!! Very cool and will do ! :)
Thanks man, this actually makes me feel comfortable before I go there. 😁👍🙂
Ah Tonga is wonderful! Nothing to worry about. Have a great time!
Why come to Tonga and not try Tongan food 😂😂 I love Korean food too. But Mama's Cafe restaurant it's yummy. Malo e lelei

Can you take your shirt off at The beachbor when swimming?
I’m no expert on Tongan law, but I would assume it’s fine. I’m not sure if it’s a law that is enforced or not
Did you meet a nice dog yet that let you pet them?
Oh yes! Lots of good pups around here. You’ll get to meet Rocky in future videos. Best dog around !
How long you planning to stay in Tonga? Great that the locals are so friendly. ....Surprised they have a Korean restaurant there!
I will be leaving Tonga in another 2-3 weeks. It’s gonna be tough leaving this island

Great to see that you have enjoyed our country. You should come back for the whale season and swim with the whales.
I would LOVE to see the whales. I’ve heard so many great things. Maybe sometime in the future :)
Weirdly enough, despite living in new zealand i miss Tonga despite hating being forced to go, i guess it’s cuz things are much simpler than NZ
Tonga é chegar de manhã-só olhar do aeroporto e sair no mesmo avião-isso não tem nada para visitar-
Population of 22000 dam there Tongans everywhere on the West Coast

Kiwis import a lot of 2nd hand Japanese cars too. Isn't there a similar trade in used cars between USA and Mexico?

Finally an explanation! Thank you for clarifying, it was quite confusing to me at first haha. Cheers!
@@DanDoesKoreahello I’m from Tonga half my life, Tongans actually say bye as hi and bye. Cos less English they just say bye to all palagi people
@@thrave7612 interesting, thank you! I guess it's like in french we say salut and it means both hi and bye or Italians say Ciao for both meanings too
Majority of tongans swim with fully clothes on.
I've definitely noticed that. Very similar to Korea.
