All the deleted scenes of Russell and his family just make the movie on a whole better. It establishes him as an important side character and makes his sacrifice more impactful.
I agree with you. These scenes also explains how he evolved along the way.
I wish they would've added that in the movie too!!!
Disagree. Although it establishes him as an important character, I think the inner family relationships are still not that well hashed out.
strongly disagree, they just slow it down
Russell: Hey 👋
Can’t stop laughing at the “I don’t want to die a virgin”…like, are you really gonna run around looking for a broom closet while the world is being blown up around you 😂
I suppose I would if I had nothing else to do.
I would. Might at well see what it's all about before we all die.
No, they would've done it right then and there.
@@shalomamigos there's always time for disappointment I guess.
Yes!
The Special Edition version has all these scenes put back in. They are also included in the novelization.
I still watch the special edition of Independence Day movie every year from July 1-4.
any chance of getting a copy that somewhere I'd like to see the whole version and it's full feature
Troy: Sorry 😢
They should have left the signal pattern one in, since it fills the major plot hole of "How the hell was David's Apple compatible with alien technology?"
Better to leave it out so we can stick with the much more plausible explanation, "they've been studying the ship for 50 goddamn years, they probably figured out how to communicate with the system in that time". (The "gizmos" that only lit up once it had a major power source refers to the high-power systems - shields, engines, weapons, perhaps comms, life support.)
One of the planned plot lines they left out of the movie was that some of our computer technology came from studying the ship, so that it was compatible.
they could have explained that easily... the aliens use our sattelites to communicate and David know the right rignal, how about messing with our own sattelites to jamm their signal?
It's not a plot hole. It's just not explained. There's a difference. A plot hole is a contradiction where something has a logical contradiction. There was no contradiction that said David couldn't have figured out how to upload a virus to the alien ships, especially when he had already cracked their countdown signals. Now it only makes all the more sense because he had time alone to study the signals and interface with the terminal.
I came here after hearing about these deleted scenes, and I guessed exactly what was left out: that originally the cockpit had alien seats and not human-compatible chairs and that the same signal David found was being used for the computers across the ships.
@@CybeargPlays ok
I watched the extended version that includes all these scenes, and most of them fit in seamlessly and even improved the film, with two big exceptions:
1. Julius Levinson's speech about famous people in the oval office was inserted in the middle of a sequence with building tension underscored by David Arnold's music. The inserted scene had no music and seriously broke the flow. Plus it's kind of stupid.
2. The last scene where Alicia Casse tries to seduce that blond teenage boy was so cringe it completely ruined the film's climax. Good riddance. In fact, all the deleted scenes with Alicia and Troy Casse should have stayed deleted, but that last one was particularly awful.
Other than that, I'm glad these were re-inserted into the film.
Since they left that scene out, I guess it's the only climax that got ruined in this movie 😜😜😜
Julius: Fine.
The first movie's throwaway scenes are better than anything in the second.
Agreed!! I have watched the sequel several times by this point, and there is simply NONE of the humanity the first film had. It's a completely different world. People have forgotten how to feel and what feeling there is is forced and artificial.
Miguel: Fine.
The extended version DVD has all these scenes included in the film.
Wasn't necessary to the plot and just overcomplicated the story when it didn't help the story.
Pretty much this. It's nice ot have a longer cut on DVD and Blu-Ray for fans of the film but the scenes added are filler.
TNT started a few years ago, including all these scenes into the movie when it airs on TV.
To my knowledge, they are the only ones that do add them.
Most of the networks edit the movie, Spike TV (now Paramount Network) are stupid and air ENTIRE scenes in the WRONG ORDER (around the time they get to Area 51).
Example: They come back from commercial, air a section that takes place much later on, goes to commercial.
When they come back from commercial, they air what they should have aired in the PREVIOUS segment.
I have the dvd version and all the scenes are in there i was watching the movie on Disney+ and i was wondering why the scenes where not in there it was really confusing at first
100%
my right ear enjoyed this more than my left
Lol
Shit, should have read the comments first. I was wondering WTF was wrong with my speakers and spent way too much time fiddling with my PC settings.
Thank God I wasn’t the only one! 😂
Same here..thought I lost my left ear
Russell: Ok ✅
That scene with the interaction between Jeff Goldblum and Brent Sooner was freaking hilarious especially when Goldblum's character had figured out in minutes, seconds or hours what Spiner's character and his team had been studying for years with that line that Spiner said to Goldblum 'You know You're making us look bad'.
hilarious
Brent's last name is spelled with an S-P-I-N-E-R.
I love how he's able to hack alien tech with a 1995 Apple Mac that's not even compatible with Windows but somehow it's compatible with alien computers. The best part is he does it all wirelessly before they even had back when 56K dial up modem was the latest tech Lol.
@@silverbullet2008bbThat shocks you? Not the lack of anti virus protection on the aliens side? I wonder what spyware would do.
@silverbullet2008bb makes you wonder what else they were hiding from the public if wireless wasn't accessible to everyone. David stumbled onto their signal by accident using his computer at work. He figured out what the signal was for after seeing the spaceships enter the atmosphere.
The part Dr okun takes David into the attacker is my favorite.
YES, MINE TOO 🙌
Same here.
Dr. Okun: Behold.
I missed it the first time but as she drives away the end is nigh preacher mutters it's not tomorrow got me laughing 😅
There's one scene that appeared in the trailer but didn't appear in either the theatrical or extended versions of the film. It's after the final air battle, Miguel is going through the crowd of people celebrating and he sees his brother in the crowd. I'm surprised the scene made it into neither cut of the film.
i love how the little kid waves too, fucking gold
Russell is Troy's father but he's Migul and Alicia's step-father which is what that argument is about and why Migul always calls him, "Russell" instead of "Dad."
he called him Dad right at the end. at least he got his sons respect.
It never explains if Alicia is Miguel or Troy's full brother cause it appears that Miguel and Troy are half brothers!
Kevin Bull From what I read about the movie, Alicia is Troy's half-sister. He did say that he's still Troy's father no matter how Miguel feels about him but he never said anything about Alicia.
Alexander Edward Pytko that’s what I should’ve noticed about that.
Russell: Calm ☺️ Down!
5:58 “…cockpit was designed to seat 3…how they sat on it, I don’t know.” 😂🤣😂
Brent Spiner…great delivery.
Boomer is such a cute yellow Labrador dog. He looks friendly and playful.
Jaquan Williams: aren’t most dogs friendly and playful?
Mario: Bad Dog 🐶
Im glad i watched this version and not the commercial one. These scenes made the movie
the "oi my GOD" at 3:08 makes me laugh myself to tears every time
This movie was so good!
6:01 now you know how David hacked the alien ship using a Macbook.
Funny enough almost all of these deleted scenes show up in TV airings. I definitely remember seeing all of these scenes at the time. The extra scenes with Russell and his kids, the scene with Jeff and Judd on the road searching for Constance on the computer, and Judd’s dialogue in the White House.
"Damn right!! They got bigger fish to fry, believe you ME!!" The best line in the movie.
but that line is in the original.
@@jessewolak3989 but not the part that follows it
David’s Father 👨: Ok 👌
Just a heads up. Most director cuts and extended cuts are ALWAYS BETTER. Film-makers only have a limited time frame to make money in the box office.
Example a regular cut film is usually 2 hours
Extended cuts are usually 2.5-2.75 hours.
The 2 hour cut can have more showings which equal more money.
But kudos for studios releasing extended cuts on DVDs.
I'm late to the party. The Lord Of the Rings trilogy is a fine example of extended cuts making the movies better as compared to the theatrical cuts. The extended cuts run over 12 hours for all three chapters while the theatrical cuts run just under 7 1/2 hours.
Really goes to show, sometimes it's not what you put in but what you decide to leave out and change. That whole plot about Troy needing medical care was completely unnecessary. Just showing Russel being sober and caring for him for a few minutes was more than enough for his character.
You’re probably right about that. But at the same time I really enjoyed seeing the look on his step son’s face when Russell slammed that government scientist against the wall being like PLEASE BRO MY SON WILL FUCKING DIE COME ON! And the step son is all like wow, when he earlier (in another deleted scene) said that he is “nothing to him” and he’s “just the man who married my mother”. In the moment where Russell demands help, it’s clear that he really does love his family.
It might have been a sensible cut but idk this addition to the father son sub plot makes
“you should be proud of him.”
“I am”
That much more meaningful.
@@davidma6616 This.
I disagree it would have helped understand how he was sick one moment and healthy the next
Russell: I’m Sorry 😞
I find it funny that Data from 'Star Trek' doesn't know how something works.
Probably done deliberately as a bit of humour for the Trekkies
what about boomer boomer will live yahhhh
Jasmine: Fine!
Some of these deleted scenes were included in the junior novelization of the movie.
No wonder that this movie is the number one highest grossing movie of 1996.
Wow these deleted scenes make this movie stronger!!! I don't know why they didn't added them in the movie? It would've made the characters more developed though I still enjoy the characters, but these would've been better!!!
what I said in the other statements
Russell: I Love You 💕❤️😘
That end times dude must've been gutted he didn't make it to the final cut
I just saw the version with these scenes. The Russell extra scenes were all simply GREAT.
Sincerely and most genuinely Agreed.!!!
Russell: Get Out!
That laptop has enough power to play Pong.
You forgot the first scene when Connie tells the president that he was elected as one of the sexiest man on earth by OC
I still have my Independence Day Extended Version on DVD
Dude, the scene with Julius trying to avoid the cars on the highway would have made that school bus scene in Resurgence work even better.
The scenes with David are extremely fulfilling... my favourite scenes in this cut 0:33 3:00 5:57
I remember seeing the "crop duster" version of this movie on the big screen. The so called theatrical version wasn't what I remembered seeing.
The one where he rams the ship with his biplane with a missile strapped to it? I never saw that in the cinema; I had to come to RUclips to watch it.
Dr. OKUN: Ladies And Gentleman.
It’s so lucky for me that I first watched this movie on extended edition DVD.
Me too. I was 10 years old when, I first saw the extended version of Independence Day from Netflix 📀 rentals.
Russell: Enough!
You really starting to make us look bad
The Blu Ray and DVD has the Independence Day Extended Version
The VHS Version has only the cut Version of Independence Day
The only scene I would have left in was the scene where David was showing up Dr okun on the 50s alien craft.
Yes, of course with you, the only deleted scene really useful.
David: Disgusting 🤢
3:00 That was funny! '62 Plymouth. No power steering then. LOL
Back when your power steering was called ADRENALINE lol
David 🈸: Jesus Christ.
these scenes should have been added into this movie would have helped explain a lot more than what the movie showed there's a lot of cuts in there and a lot of unexplained parts
I realize that would probably made the movie longer but it would have helped explain a whole bunch of things in this movie
I thought I would never see either one. Now hell froze over!
Calm down, or you are grounded.
Jasmine: Ok 👌
Too bad this doesn't include the extended scene with Connie and Whitmore
Aliens defeated by Mac OS 7.5 from the 90s.....also the Aliens will tell you know to keep your subscription to Norton Anti-virus up to date
I wish they kept those scenes.
For example, the scene where Russel insists on finding a Doctor really showed Miguel that he cares! It was such an important one. Too bad they removed it.
2:50 😆 I liked it how boomer the 🐕 jumps on her ex boss, before the 🛸 destroy the city of Los Angeles.
David's Dad knows the Password is Levinson he got it right😂😂😂 3:54
I loved that movie, excellent!!
The DVD Five Star Collection has exactly the same scenes as this one.
I got this DVD with the delete scenes in this movie.
The week it came out, the theatre I saw it in here in Canada had the biplane ending.
All the plots are dumb, no wonder the movie went smoothly, but they should have included the alien signal how the Macbook able to decipher and also where the doctor was jealous of him lol
I'm sure you could have done much better. I'm blown away Fox didn't choose you to direct the sequel instead of Emmerich.
Can you believe all this bla bla ?
Definitely. When I saw that scene, that's what I thought. That, plus the scene with guy claiming "the end is nigh" a la the Book of Revelation.
It’s not a MacBook.
Captain 👩✈️ Steven: Thank You 🙏
Yeah most of these scenes would have best left out of the movie. They seem like they were directed by Michael Bay.
If only the sequel was at least half good this movie was...
Marcus from " Xena" is in the Army!! He looks gorgeous in anything he wears, uniform, loincloth, toga, etc.!
The Homeless Los Angeles, California man holding the sign the end has come hid in the Subway.!!!
Some of these scenes I think they should have kept in the movie. But I think alot of it was for pacing purposes
Wow, nothing good to miss!
I'm NOT a baby anymore! I don't want your stupid medicine. bwaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Seriously should’ve left every single one of them ❤
Just imagine and looking at the first scene if this happens for real.
We missed all those deleted scenes
they cut out these parts well...so many unnecessary subplots...
0:23 I recently discovered that the guy sitting down is Chris Pine’s dad.
These scenes do seem a little pokey, but maybe they would make sense as part of the movie. I would cut them too.
A Jew, a Blackman and a drunk saved the world...
This is the verison I'm used. I've always preferred longer versions of movies. I prefer character over plot development
I am a huge fan of The Waltons, and your role of Jim Bob. How about: "The Waltons - All Grown Up" new TV Series, with a cast formed from the children and grandchildren of the original Waltons?
6:26 "This Doohickey is connected to the.... augh, well, it *was* connected to the Engine..." Lol🤣🤣 Guy's the Perfect Mad Scientist A̶l̶m̶o̶s̶t̶ as weird as the aliens themselves 🤣
They got one! They got one alive!
Is that RV the same one Randy Quaid drove in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation?
Hopefully someone restore all the deleted scenes with the actual movie and release again in the cinemas...
they're in the special edition/extended cut on DVD, blu-ray, 4K, and digital.
Watched it on the 4th. Never gets old
wait so the deleted scenes are put in the movie on the special edition? I never noticed
On the dvd special edition, have both versions, cut and extended
Russell: Fine!
They didn't have to cut out that last scene. Let Alicia spend her last moments with a real gentleman instead of a guy who'd take advantage of the situation.
You be okay by yourself, Dave? Oh, and don't touch anything.
3:00-4:07 That's very dangerous and interesting.
Must be!
Troy: I’m Sick 🤧
TIL a fun fact : Dr. Okin is played by Brent Spiner, aka Data from Star Trek.
In the immortal words of Tourettes Guy: "He played Data on Star Trek!"
What happened to Tiffany in Las Vegas is one thing but what happened to her in Los Angeles is something else. One way or another anyone can survive not getting a job they hoped to get and losing their money gambling, but to survive an alien invasion that is only if they go with what the president, David, his father, Hiller and the Air Force plan to do to fight the hostile forces.
I can tell stereo sound had yet to be invented by 1996.
Just kidding, but seriously this video could use some stereo here.
You be okay by yourself, Dave? Don’t touch anything.
"I need a doctor" can be heard in the background in normal version.
Please correct me if i am wrong here
I really wanted to see the alternate ending without the commentary
3:13-3:31 lol!!! 🤣
1:28 he said he's leaving without he's pop to Tucson to live with he's uncle Hector
Someone please tell me what kind of “medicine” that kid is taking, been bothering me for years.
Good question
Troy: Yikes 😬
So Alicia Casse's boyfriend had all his scenes cut from the final movie. Thats gotta suck for that young actor.
this movie is mediocre without these scenes.
good thing you can watch the special edition on DVD, blu-ray, 4K, and digital which puts these scenes back in.
so cool man
lol well i know why the second one was taken out
Watched all these on the vhs version
Most of these scenes are definitely golden. Why did they cut them out???😅
Oh boy. Oh boy. How long he’s been unconscious?
Ive seen every trailer deleted scene but I still cant find the one scene of the bus flying though the stargate poster!!
Why does this audio sound so bad???
Thanks God they never showed any of these scenes, OMG lol
These scenes don't do anything for the movie... not entirely sure why anyone would think they did. Cutting them certainly didn't hurt it; "highest grossing film of 1996".
so the movie is in sequel?
It’s the end
