You’re welcome 😊
the gatorboard setup is genius! thanks for sharing, love how everything fits tidily into your backpack.
Glad you like it! ~Brenda
I’ve been using your idea for mixing trays for at least a year. It’s a great idea and I send people to your post(s) about it all the time. I’ll see Maria at an event this weekend and will show it to others there (again)!
The bead tray are great and a game changer. I still love that palette!
@@brendaswensonwatercolors I know that one, too. But I was writing about the extra mixing pans on a magnet for the Art Tool Kit folio palette.
Sorry, I got the two confused! I alter all my palettes to have mixing pans😁
Have a great week in Sketching !
Such a great setup! I can't believe you found a stool that tiny - wow!
Me neither! Not sure how long I could sit on it. But for a quick sketch, it would be great.!
Love this set up Brenda! so compact and light!
It really is!
So informative! And of course super satisfying to see how compact and organized your setup is, all in one bag!!😍
Glad you liked it!!
Perfect little kit, in a brilliant little bag that fits everything in their places. I love it.😊
Gillina, Awww thanks! ~Brenda
Great set up, thanks! I love the sherpani bags! I really like the extra magnet sheet for the extra mixing trays, awesome idea!
Vati, Glad you like them!
Thank you for sharing! I’ve been working in plein air on a plastic storage clipboard but it’s just so big it doesn’t fit easily into a small backpack but I like that it can store almost everything I need. Will definitely have to try those paint palettes!
Glad it was helpful!
Great set up. Good idea re paint palette.
Thank you!
Very functional setup, thanks for sharing. Love your art, you inspire me!❤
You are so welcome!
I definitely enjoyed your set up! Thank you for sharing.

Brenda
Nice setup! Thanks for sharing it. 😊
Thanks for watching! Have fun sketching.
Thank you Brenda! Just on time! I saw you earlier post about the Art toolkit folio and have the same big pans and mixing trays you have. Great!
Wonderful! Great little palette.
~Brenda
What a great set-up! :)
Also, how did you get the perfectly sized round hole for your water cut into your gator-board... Mike? ;)
Glad you think so!
@@brendaswensonwatercolors well, I'm still using my Swenson inspired Harbor Freight canvas bag etc, but something lighter is pretty tempting after knee surgery! 🥰
@@katiekruger4381 I won’t be giving up my canvas sketch bag👍
I love ur set up!!
Thanks!
So helpful
Glad you think so!
Great setup! Thanks for sharing :)
Jared, thank you!
I always enjoy serving your new palette setup!
Brenda
Brenda, I remember a video where you have a technique for changing the surface of plastic pallets so that the paint does not bead up. I've been searching and can't find that helpful hint. Please tell me how you do that? Thanks! Love your beautiful work! Kathi
To help the paint lay down on a palette use a mild abrasive, such as soft, scrub, or baking soda
Hi Brenda, I've tracked down everything you have for the ultimate convenience plein aire setup....Except that dandy little green cup. I've found many that are larger but yours is ideal. Might you let us know where we might find one or maybe even the correct searching terms? I hate to bother you and thank you very much. Your painting style is gorgeous!
Mary, Thanks! A camping company makes something very similar and I use these too. You'll pay a little more but they last forever. Sea to Summit, is the brand. The cups come in many sizes. seatosummit.com/products/x-cup
Sooooo many thanks!
I love the thing you make for your lap with the gator board…. Where does one find gator board when shopping?
I purchased the gator board on Amazon
I'm fairly new to your channel, and I just wanted to thank you for this lovely video! May I ask what kind of fountain pens you have in your case? They look nice! Also, I love your idea for mixing trays stuck to a magnet!

@@brendaswensonwatercolors thanks!
How big is your sketchbook? A4? Also, love that backpack! ❤
Yes A$. I'm always on a search for the perfect backpack too!
Beautiful art!! Would you have a link to the magnetic sheet for the extra mixing pans? I would love to do that. Is yours flexible?
The magnetic sheets are very easy to find… please Google😁 They come in many sizes and often used to stick on the back of photographs.
Great setup. How did you get the round hole for the cup?
Round hole was cut out by my husband.
Just found your videos. Your art is absolutely beautiful. I have an art tool kit palette too. I cut a magnetic sheet and put some empty paint mixing trays on it but it won’t close. I was wondering how you were able to get yours to close. I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos. Oh I think I see you keep it in a separate pouch or plastic sleeve. Is that right. Did you make the plastic pouch or did you find it on Amazon, etc. Thanks
Hi Bonnie,
I take my extra mixing area off before closing.
Brenda
This is brilliant. Thank you so much for sharing. The way you extend the Art Toolkit Folio to incorporate mixing trays is fantastic! Does the magnetic sheet actually magnetically adhere to the lid? Or is the lid just made from non-magnetic material e.g. aluminum, so there is no magnetic adherence?
You are so welcome!
The magnetic sheet is approximately 4 x 6“. The metal mixing trays, attach themselves to the magnetic sheet facing up side. The downside of the magnetic sheet I leave the material on that used to cover the adhesive sticky side. This sits on the inside lid and doesn’t fall off because of the tab that’s used for closure on the palette.
@@brendaswensonwatercolors Thanks! I hadn't noticed the tab that's used to close the lid will prevent the magnetic sheet from falling out. Perfect! Can't decide between Black and Silver though. I guess the black palette is anodized, and will only show silver color if deeply scratched? Also, how good is the mixing tray surface? Is it much like the beautiful mixing and vibrancy you get on a porcelain surface, or does the paint clump up like when mixing on a plastic surface? I'd also like to say your watercolors are really quite beautiful :) I have subscribed :)
Is this your new set up you use? I see the canvas to style bag that you use and doubles as small table.
Yvonne, I still have my canvas bag and use it. This is just another option when I want to travel lighter.
@@brendaswensonwatercolors Thank you.
Where do I buy the palet

Thanks so much for this helpful information. How thick is the board? What size is it?and what tape did you use? Are the magnets glued to the board?is your palette the Folio ?thx so much.
Margaret,
Board material: 3/16 Gator foam board.
Board size: 12"x 20". When cut folds to 12"x10"
Tape: Industrial strength with fibers for strength. Duct tape works fine.
Magnetics glue to board.
Palette: Folio
Thx so much. This made me evaluate what is really important and useful to take when sketching. I really like the setup and appreciate this video you shared. Thx again.
I'm sorry to be a pest, Brenda, but I just got my ArtToolKit (yaaay!). However, I ordered the wrong size, so I'm going to take care of that now, but in looking at your video, it looks like your little half-pans are larger than the ones they have on their website. They only have these mini-pans instead of larger half-pans. Is that what you have? Mini-half pans? I keep looking at yours and I'm just not sure now.
Folio Palette: Measures 5-5/16" x 3-3/8" x 1/4" (when closed)
15 Double Pans: Size: 26mm x 26mm x 3mm
@@brendaswensonwatercolors Many thanks, Brenda!!
What are the measurements of your art tool kit? I ordered one and it seems sooo small compared to yours?
Susan, I use the Folio Palette. Closed it measures 5.25"x 3.25". Opened 10.25" x 3.25"
