Some nice quick additional info for the ALR-56 (based on C-130 version of the system) -signal bearing is determined by comparing differences in signal strength between multiple receiving antennas -the handoff button is used to cycle the priority diamond between each threat -the audio that you hear is only from the currently selected (priority diamond) threat -missile tracking warning audio will overide any other audio (for obvious reasons) -the altitude button changes between high altitude and low altitude modes -the search button will make system display search type radars (normally not displayed) -the act/pwr button doesn't actually do anything (its merely a power indication for AC/DC power)
@saber721 from my BMS days the receiver shows contacts based on threat level and puts them "in" the inner ring if within threat range or outside of it if not in range. Is that correct? As it seems like this system works a bit differently
I know you don't like the Russian RWR, but I'm kind of half and half on it myself. The Western setup is definitely FAR more informative, no doubt. But I think the Russian one is also nice since you can get almost everything you need to know with just a quick glance. Of course, it's usually in some far dark corner of the panel that you have to crouch down fetal in the seat to even attempt to get an eye on it, but that's beside the point....
-A-10C uses the same RWR. Wonder why they didn't just copy that into the F-16 :/- EDIT: Never mind! The A-10 uses ALR-69, which is also used in some F-16 variants but not blk.50
Question: Is the RWR turned on automatically every time you start the plane? Today I was playing in a multiplayer server and a SU-27 shot me down from reasonably far away without a warning. At first I thought it was an R-27T (IR-seeking missile) and that that’s the reason I didn’t get a warning, but it just dawned on me that the entire time I was playing on that server I didn’t get anything on my RWR. I’m getting a feeling I was flying around with my RWR turned off, but I might be wrong.
But where you successfull in evading it lol? Damm looks like I have to get a new joystick setup and get the viper for dcs... had a blast with all the Falcon series back in the day
quick question.. iam thinking about buying the high fidelity f16c since its on sale right now. But I cant find any information about the afterburner sounds in cockpit. On your first impressions video you were saying that it doesnt have that afterburner "pop" sound like the FC3 model does. Is this fixed by now? because i really like the sound in the FC3 model. But still would rather fly the high fidelity model. Thanks in advance :)
How do you get the aural warnings for radar lock and missile launch?? I cranked up the volume knob for the threat audio but I don’t hear any warnings at all...
Same here, don't know if it's a bug or if I just dont set the RWR up correctly, would have been nice to have a "how to boot the RWR" at the beginning of the vid !
@@grimreapersYeah we are a handfull of people who seem not to have any audio RWR indications (as well as some audio cues such as "Pull Up" or "Chaff, Flare". Others (Bingo, Altitude) are working fine) The strange thing is, if a Test is done, all of thoses cues are played correctly and in acceptable volume. Seems like a bug.
NoBrainSilent Found the issue. eagle dynamics said people without the F18 don’t hear sounds right now since they are using F18 sounds as a placeholder for the current RWR. This will be fixed in the next patch asap.
Grim Reapers Seems to be working for those who have the F18 module. It reads those files. For those without the F18 module, we have to wait for an update. Thank You for reply, will check to make sure.
Please don’t turn away from SAMs, the real life procedure is you turn towards them, and lower altitude to escape the operating altitude window, the whole point is to reduce the time for the missile to maneuver towards your position. Like if you are getting hit by SAMs located at sub 15nm away… I don’t know.. And I’m talking from a different sim, Falcon BMS, it’s my go to, the missile systems there and all the bombs and LGBs etc etc, variety of campaign missions… epic multiplayer, so yeah.
@@DoveEnigma13 right, but the functions still remain the same and they operate in a very very similar fashion.... I dont see what the big deal is about the f18 RWR. For me it makes just as much sense as any other RWR. What do you find so silly about the F18 RWR?
