I used to hate the Spurs and never really cared to watch them play. I thought them beating my Pistons in '05 was a fluke and I thought they were a boring team who got lucky twice before that. I couldn't accept the fact that 2 euro star players could dominate in the NBA. As I got older and the Spurs continued their success w/ their same group of core players and coach, I couldn't help but respect the team. That respect turned to me actually rooting for them to win it all last year against the Heat. Not to take anything away from their amazing regular season but I had them nowhere near the Finals thinking they were too old (I'm sure I wasn't alone in that). As they advanced further along I felt they truly deserved to win it all, plus I can't stand the Heat and rooted against them in every series. When I thought they couldn't possibly be able to play at that level again this following year (considering Duncan and Ginobili's age factor) they continue to play the efficient basketball they always do. I actually enjoy watching them play now and their smart, hard working style of play, especially love Pop and his interviews. Much respect to that recent interview he did w/ Sager's son, very classy.
I'm a Pistons fan too and I felt basically the same way you did about the Spurs. Now I really appreciate the way they play the game. Plus they have Kawhi Leonard who I have loved to watch play going back to when he was in college.
Only team in the league that you'll see this kind of bond in. If you've ever been to San Antonio, it's clear that the city and its people share the same bond with the team. We love our Spurs :)
there aint no other team that has a special bond like the San Antonio Spurs. And there aint no player and coach like Tim Duncan and Gregg Popovich that has a very special bond like these guys. GO SPURS GO.
This is one of the best vids I've watched on RUclips. One the most successful coaches in the NBA and sports teaches what the fundamentals of his system or any winning system is: TRUST. Building relationships to a level of trust, WINS championships. Wanna win at anything? Practice trusting openly.
Their team chemistry indicator is beyond the scale. As a young NBA fan I was looking at them as boring craftsmen. Now I'm really supporting them and wish them another championship.
People might think their brand of basketball is boring, but any businessman or realtionship therapist has to look at these guys and the way they approach thier craft, and just say, wow. That's how it should be.
Oh, definitely. I'm not doubting Manu's importance to the team, or his skills as a basketball player. But when you look at the Spurs, Tim Duncan is just another type of beast. He is undoubtedly the greatest PF to ever play basketball. The Spurs run on Duncan. The Spurs have been a championship team for the last decade because of Duncan. That's just how it is.
sure thing. with this year and the way he played during the season and now in the playoffs there is no doubt in my mind he's the greatest power forward of all times. I don't even care what people have to say. Karl was great,McHale,Garnett,Barkley. but timmy did it his way and the man is playing like he's 30 years old. he's a baskeball inspiration.
anyway they are not boring. when you are a kid and you start to play basketball this is what they teach you.. every position is being played correctly.. no point fowards or shooting fowards.. every position where it should be.. pure basketball
And 6 years later, they're up 2-0 against Memphis. So they will almost certainly go to the finals and are going to give Miami one hell of a fight and throw everything at them including the kitchen sink !
i don't know if you saw the image where it shows lebron got a 3 but it was really a 2. Could have been a six point game requiring two threes. IT WAS STOLEN. Green and Manu were fouled. It would have been different with Bruce
Manu's a great player, considering how underrated he was going into the league, but he's nowhere near Duncan in the effect he has on the team. Nowhere near.
"when its not basketball hes a great guy" - Tony Parker on Greg Popovich
LMAO
Lol i noticed that too!

40Def lets go DETROIT
lol I am a Suns fan and the Spurs were one of those teams that stopped Nash's team from ever getting a ring.
I wish they've won the 2013 NBA championship.
they should have,
bigslick052 They're one win away from making the finals again to get things right. Everybody wants to see the Spurs get another crack at Miami
LouieV6 Too bad they're not after the Miami now. It's a whole different power struggle in the NBA. Makes things more interesting.
bigslick052 Me too.

Tim Duncan and Gregg Popovich is like Father and Son.
Tim and the Spurs deserve one more championship.
Pop and Tim is a father and Son, Respect!!!!!

Their team chemistry indicator is beyond the scale. As a young NBA fan I was looking at them as boring craftsmen. Now I'm really supporting them and wish them another championship.

Pop is the best coach in the NBA.
People might think their brand of basketball is boring, but any businessman or realtionship therapist has to look at these guys and the way they approach thier craft, and just say, wow. That's how it should be.
Such a special situation. Cool coach,cool team,champions...
no dislikes. thats the way i like it.
Timmy better be the next Spurs head coach!
Love Them.
Tim Duncan could almost have been 6-0 in the finals, just like Michael Jordan.
i love this video
i need my own Gregg Popovich. :3
ginobili really loved his hair =(
sure thing. with this year and the way he played during the season and now in the playoffs there is no doubt in my mind he's the greatest power forward of all times. anyway they are not boring. when you are a kid and you start to play basketball this is what they teach you.. every position is being played correctly.. no point fowards or shooting fowards.. every position where it should be.. pure basketball

The guy sounds like Steve Kerr.
BOOOOOOOOM, shouldn't have said it BOY
The players respect him more for yelling at them than talking in a normal tone LOL, players seem to respect him getting angry than friendly!
Ginobs with hair, ha!
Looks like y'all might do it again!
Duncan is the reason ginobili lost all his hair LOL
SPURS plays like a family! thats how they become GREAT.! go SPURS go!
robert horry was right!
And 6 years later, they're up 2-0 against Memphis. So they will almost certainly go to the finals and are going to give Miami one hell of a fight and throw everything at them including the kitchen sink !
Best coach of the NBA History : Pop
Best Power Foward Ever : Timmy Duncan
I wonder how Kobe-Popovich would do together
No, that was Elton Brand.
Next year The Spurs will win their 5th Championship! Drive for 5 next year Spurs :)

I would HATE to see the day Pop and TD depart from the team.
Young manu is looks like Loki.. Lol

2-0 isnt a huge lead and miami still has to go thru the pacers.. i wanna see the spurs do it but they still have a long way to go

How could you dislike this? Oh yeah.. by being a hater.

You were saying ?
no where near ? he's not Splitter. Manu gave a lot to the team. the most underrated sg of all times probably
i don't know if you saw the image where it shows lebron got a 3 but it was really a 2. Could have been a six point game requiring two threes. IT WAS STOLEN. Green and Manu were fouled. It would have been different with Bruce

When time retire.. Spurs should have a obvious new ass. head coach
Manu's a great player, considering how underrated he was going into the league, but he's nowhere near Duncan in the effect he has on the team. Nowhere near.
