Dr. Joy DeGruy Leary explains it beautifully....She shows a picture of the lynching of a Black man with a young White girl standing by the body with, what seems to be, her father. The child had a smirk on her face as if the hanging, dead body, had no effect on her. But if you would have brought out a puppy and stomped its head, the child would possibly need therapy. Right! What I don't understand is, if in the jogger's mind these boys were guilty, Matias Reyes, the real rapist, went on to continue to rape more women after the kids were arrested. If the cops did their jobs correctly more women would not have been raped and a woman and her unborn baby would not be dead. Reyes was considered a loner, he would not have raped anyone with these kids. Why, hasn't she looked into all of the facts herself, wouldn't she want justice? Its not even that linda has an ego she knew she was wrong from the beginning she knew their were no type of evidence to actually convict these boys so she relied on coercion of their statements.
The privilege has ego built in. She was disgustingly vengeful. White privilege is soooooo dangerous. smfh
Its MxGinnis The reason Korey Wise feel he the 4 plus 1 instead Central Park 5 because he was never on the list who they choose to be questioned. He only got brung in because he went to the police station with his friend for support. Where they able to put fear and beat him to lie on the others because the story never wasn’t going to stick. Plus no evidence. Therefore him being 16 yrs old they can question him without a parent. He was never the Central Park 4 now “5”.
I was picked up at 3am in my home! Taken to Carrol County, Georgia. They accused me of writing checks for more than $3,000! I had lost my wallet three months prior, and didn’t realize it had actually been stolen. I sat in jail for three months because I couldn’t afford bail!!! I was so afraid because they offered me 10 years! I had not had any legal support until a week before going in front of the judge! My family called the DA, Investigator, and court, with no response! Finally I go to court, and the judge looks at the case, and could not believe they held me for the This with all the evidence that showed it was not me! They just released me, no apology, nothing! My car was repossessed, I lost my job, and am still traumatized! They came into my home guns drawn!

Ava..... such a breath of fresh air. A true talent and inspiration. She is the perfect role model, still down to earth and relatable through all her success.
Ava is a blessing to our community. The fact that she was born into this industry through a non traditional route is a testimony. She tells real hard stories of truth with dignity and class.
Please keep this story alive! We need to keep the conversations going about this injustice for so many reasons. This is truly a teachable moment in history.
The most powerful line in that was, when one of the boys said “They can’t treat us like this!”, and the other boy said “How else are they going to treat us!”
I love Ava so much. She really is someone who uses her gift for the culture and the cause. What a beautiful black mind. Meanwhile, I am trying to prepare my psyche to watch this movie. I'm so emotionally spent from the mass shootings, the babies being killed by people who are supposed to care for them and the police just out here acting crazy I'm not sure how much more I can handle. @ Yes, yes. Have to never forget the ones who gone before us and took the brunt of the evil and malicious actions perpetrated upon on our people because of our color.
This film was so touching, I cried throughout the whole 4.5 hours. I don't recall the story, but Ava brought so much light to a dark situation. This film just really showed me how much 'they' HATE us and will do anything to end our existence.
It's a sad state of affairs when the person who did the actual crime had more compassion and empathy for the young men than the police who took an oath to protect and serve
Raven Gill Of course they are going to hold on to the lie because acknowledging the true would mean they would have to face the fact that they destroyed five innocent lives.
That's what they do, brutalize, destroy, and then say, what's the matter or its your fault, when they've caused the dis-ease. They are completely detached from accountability
And to think, it happens all the time. Countless people have likely been *executed* for crimes they didn't commit (14 yo George Stinnett comes to mind)

"The police are not your friends"
Finally some truth from Envy
but his father was a police officer.
@@jjuanramon4288 Yeah that's interesting
jjuan ramon That Still Doesn’t Mean They Are Your Friends.
so who do you call when you get in a car accident, or someone breaks in your home, or you get robbed, you call your friends of the police. Granted there are horrible cops, but not all are bad.
@@jjuanramon4288 Call paramedics for an accident.
Thanks to Ava DuVernay, Ken Burns and Sarah Burns for not letting us forget.
Its not even that linda has an ego she knew she was wrong from the beginning she knew their were no type of evidence to actually convict these boys so she relied on coercion of their statements.
The privilege has ego built in. Her goal was to protect HER people, someone she felt like could have been her, by any means necessary - and KNEW she would be heard because theyre used to getting their way, regardless of being wrong. She was disgustingly vengeful. White privilege is soooooo dangerous. smfh
What made me so mad was that there was no evidence that they did it and none of the dna matched
Not only linda even the fucking raped victim didn't care even if she made a book from it and made money from it
They were willing to change the time frame to make it stick!!
@@fabfati facts and too this day she still says those men raped her but cant remember anything that happened that night
Can we get CP5 on the breakfast club ???
Just Me 💯💯💯
Korey wise doesn’t consider himself cp5 he said its Central Park 4 plus 1
Dennis Marshall 4 plus 1 is 5 .. Central Park 5
Yes I would love to hear Korey Wise!
Sorry this happened to you man smh
Sue the state
😥😥😥😥😥😥
Sad! We get no Justice. This is why we really need God on our side. Blessings. 🙏
John Ward absolutely disgusting that this happens to people I’m so sorry
I cried watching when they see us😢
Shannon Davis me to
The last episode took me all the way out.
Girl I cried like 20 times. smh And Korey's story hit DIFFERENT!
I have never cried because of the content of a movie....... Until this one! 😓
So, did I!!! Korey Wise touched my heart so. I actually thought that he would have taken his life.
"'we will never be free till we free our mind and gain knowledge" - Ava DuVernay
Well said.
I love her husky voice, it does command attention, then of course her intelligence keeps you. What a great way to tell the truth in that series. It is so heart breaking that I cant even watch it again, and how many other people have that kind of story.
Ava..... such a breath of fresh air. A true talent and inspiration. She is the perfect role model, still down to earth and relatable through all her success.
@Stuck in the 90s she is so much more then just fine.. she has a beautiful mind..God Bless her...🙏
Ava is a blessing to our community. The fact that she was born into this industry through a non traditional route is a testimony. She tells real hard stories of truth with dignity and class.
Poor Korey!!! Pissed me off and got mad all over again n I was only 11 when this happened.
She is gorgeous. Love her work and what she’s doing
Oh Envy!! My husband and I watched it with our teenagers as well and had the exact same conversation. They really had no clue this was possible.
Please keep this story alive! We need to keep the conversations going about this injustice for so many reasons. This is truly a teachable moment in history.
Rikers island was horrible but imagine having to be there at the age of 16
Thats what I imagined too! Korey's story hit so differently! I cried like 15 times from his part alone smh
Sad and they went home went to bed and lived 30yrs knowing they did that to them black young men.
Amirr iam Kalief Browder was only 14😔
it breaks my heart.
Alexandra Smith he got out at like 29
Thank you, Ava, without your steadfast dedication the completion of this horrific miscarriage of justice would not have been told. God Bless You.
This world is a mess!
I never heard of this lady before , but I watched the serious and I was blown away. The acting is amazing , and as a brown man from Sri Lanka, I being through these things in my life as well. Well done!! you deserve all the praise
that series was amazing
✊🏾
Pro-Life but wanna push for the death penalty?
Boy we gotta good one on our hands.
Mozzie L. Ok now y’all reaching one is a baby that hasn’t done anything wrong and the other is a most likely guilty horrific killer
JokerTheGoat ひ most likely a killer? And if you believe pro life then it's all life, not picking and choosing
@@jokerthegoat8937 we dont know what the baby will grow up to be and it shouldn't matter to prolife people. If you are for life then you shouldnt be for the death penalty.
@Open Ranks how is that ignorant? I'm prettt sure if we knew what babies would be like in the future some prolifers would have a different pov. They say how the baby is innocent. Yes the baby is innocent but it won't be a baby forever.
A baby is a person just as much as a human so we should discuss it as such
Open Ranks or maybe you're ignorant hmmm
Ava, Lena, Issa..... thank you God for these creative blessings. #bgm 😍
The fact that this came from a dm wow I just love how connected she is to the people
Need a film on Black Wall Street(Tulsa, OK), Riots of Wilmington, NC now that will be something to see.
Or an Emmett Till film done Right
@ Yes, yes. Have to never forget the ones who gone before us and took the brunt of the evil and malicious actions perpetrated upon on our people because of our color.
If possible they should sue the media outlets for defamation of character.
I thought the same but there maybe time constraints ( its too late)
But shouldn’t the time frame be thrown out since they were in prison for years?
This film was so touching, I cried throughout the whole 4.5 hours. I don't recall the story, but Ava brought so much light to a dark situation. This film just really showed me how much 'they' HATE us and will do anything to end our existence.
Exalt Korey Wise👐🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 humbled watching his story. He deserves happiness for the rest of his life.
Sapri Dozier absolutely✨
She exudes so much light . A true queen
There's a lot of sisters who exude a similar essence. May more of them be so seen and found to be invaluable 🙏🏽💫🌻
She did a really awesome job on this project
It's a sad state of affairs when the person who did the actual crime had more compassion and empathy for the young men than the police who took an oath to protect and serve
Wow your so right
That’s deep
!!!!!!!!!
I still cried listening to Ava talk about it, man I hate this justice system
The criminal INJustice system...😢
When They See Us is the BEST movie I’ve seen this year, so far!
"Jailed for THE crime" NOT "Jailed for THEIR crime" 👍
To hear that the people who were involved to ruin these men lives still hold on to the hatered and Saying they still did it it’s DISGUSTING 🤦🏾♀️
Raven Gill Of course they are going to hold on to the lie because acknowledging the true would mean they would have to face the fact that they destroyed five innocent lives.
White people have never had a moral compass.....
That’s white people for you. Smh.
That's what they do, brutalize, destroy, and then say, what's the matter or its your fault, when they've caused the dis-ease. They are completely detached from accountability
Hard to process this level of injustice without being disheartened. Ava you're a jewel.
And to think, it happens all the time. Countless people have likely been *executed* for crimes they didn't commit (14 yo George Stinnett comes to mind)
Ava DuVernay is a beautiful woman with a beautiful brain. She's a #Lethal_Combination
ABSOLUTELY!!!!
I truly admire this intelligent, beautiful and talented woman!! Thank you for your remarkable contributions.
I hope everyone is motivated with this womans passion may she give you the passion and drive to have your voices heard. I absolutely adore this black queen and appreciate her spirit.
Stop using the word "queen" so loosely like that. Ain't no queens or kings here knock it off it is annoying.
I watched the series and cried so much 😭😭😭😭😭 and I'm from south Africa 🇿🇦.

Wait a minute. Since the media coverage never used the words "allegedly" during their coverage, can't the CP5 sue them for DEFAMATION and hardship????
Great question.
And sue trump too. For calling them to executed
Yes! I was thinking the same thing. I hope some one put that buzz in their ears.
i watched the abc documentary and apparently out of 250 articles only 12 used the word 'alleged'
Rhianne McCalla wow !
Y’all please get the CP5 up here for an interview PLEASE
Girl them men been doing interviews for years, the breakfast club knew about them and never asked them to come......so why now , go watch some old ones

She looks and sounds like Layla Ali. She’s beautiful..
I knew her face resembled someone I knew of
@amy benje She looks better than him🙄 Ava is beautiful ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼🖤

All in all, our women will always protect and represent us black men. Respect love and all praises due to our black women ❤💯
@sorue, YES WE WILL, but when will black men start protecting black women?????!🤔 I'll wait
@@wegotthis973 if you're waiting for those black men that are celebrities or athletes or musicians that are well off and very Influential, then it's gonna be a wait.. very long wait, us blue collar black men, we always support our black women. My family's men and my friends we always support our women. We go over looked because we're normal regular, no flash no front no sensationalism. Just plain and true. Some of Our women tend to seek praise adulation approval and support from those black men that they judge are better than us regular guys. So it may feel like you're getting no support, maybe if you shift focus a bit, you'll see you have more than enough of the support you will ever need.
Good day queen
Respect ❤
Sorue Poscendo did you purposely try to start some drama with the gender distinction? Black Men & Black Women need to be united because we are more efficient when we are.
I watched the interview with my youngest son who's a student at the US Naval Academy and he was absolutely devastated. He watched the series without my since he's home on vacation and said to me when I returned home from work that he wept watching it. I grew up in Brooklyn and left NYC for the Military in 1983 and was not aware of this event. But for God that could've been my story. I had a couple of friends who did time at Riker's so I know the impact of imprisonment 2nd hand. Thanks for telling their story for it has opened many eyes.
I’m so glad we have black women like Ava representing us.
Let's not throw around the word "black" like that

The Ken Burns documentary is good, very informative. But When They See Us that series will have grown ass men crying
I didn’t watch this interview before watching the show... I should’ve. Thank you, Ava. When They See Us is definitely Oscar worthy.
The same energy they had slandering those young men name They SHOULD KEEP THAT SAME ENERGY TO CLEAR THEIR NAMES 😤
Miss Metra their name is cleared. All charges from and all allegations are clear also
Yes I’m aware.. I was just speaking in general how the Media ,trump and prosecutor demolished them but won’t go hard to polish them ! But I’m glad they’re getting their stories out!
100% agree, I was thinking the same, the same negative energy they had, the same way they made life hell for these 5 men, and changed their lives forever, they should now apologise, hold their hands up and ask for forgiveness from these men. It’s disgusting how they can do all this and get away with it, Idc about the money the men have received as compensation, you can’t put a price on mental health, or give them back their childhood, or their innocence that they once had - even if their names have been cleared, there’s still idiots out there who will carry a negative opinion of these men still
I see y'all not with the gay doll shenanigans today when a Black Queen is on deck 🤣😂!! I need y'all to keep that same Goofball energy. Shout out to Ava 👑
