As a millennial who just purchased an older ranch home. My husband and I are from Florida where ranch style homes are popular and also as someone who doesn’t particularly look at my house as an investment to be taken advantage of. Ie we have no plans to sell and trade up… I plan to stay here forever if I can so it’s also just looking for the future and planning to be old.

I am currently modifying plans for a one story build. Trying to decide between where to build. Either Suwanee ga or Frisco TX. What I'm finding is not so much the building of the home since it's custom, but the community. Gated communities or very strict HOA communities have inquired on design. Most want certain minimum sq ft & lavish decor to fit neighborhood look. One of my issues is that the width is creating a problem in finding land to accommodate the house. I've had to scale down the home design considerably. Not many upscale communities in Milton, Suwanee, Braselton or Frisco that accommodates these homes without a major price tag.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Finding the right community is just as important as finding the house itself. I’m sure you'll find the perfect spot for your home😊!

Ranches with basements ard definitely going to cost you more because they're longer and the basement walls are concrete block with concrete fill.

Concrete for a ranch 2500 sq ft vs 2 story 1250.

It's just easier. Easier to manage, clean, and care for dependents you name it.
