Ajahn, this has been excellent. Just what I needed. I need to lower my expectations in every aspect of my life. Love your stories. They never grow old and I always learn something new. Sadhu. Sadhu. Sadhu. 🙏🙏🙏
Ajahn Brahm & Ajahn Brahmali at the same "stage" what a wonderful surprise! 🙏🙏🙏 Buddhist without a local Sangha (like me) found these talks a real blessing 😊
when Ajahn Brahm talks about peace I feel my mind humming along. I really needed to hear all these wise and encouraging words today. thank you teacher you bring so much joy : D
no, you should expect what's right, what's reasonable to expect. As he said, otherwise you'll expect or ask for nothing and receive nothing, that would be disadvantageous and unskillful. Disappointment is a lesson in letting go.
Merle Langlois 'charging'? They don't charge a penny for either. You know you can boost content for free on RUclips, right? It's a good idea to mirror it though or otherwise archive them in the event Google changes its mind fascistically, fully.
Phoenix Chastaine Sorry, to clarify I meant ISPs charging more for video streaming versus audio streaming. I wasn't referring to BSWA, they've got a lot of Vimalakirtis and red envelope patrons I'm sure.
Merle Langlois Please don't ever apologize to me again. I appreciate your doing so, but communication is always hard. It's one of the hardest things humans do. I'm a greenhorn to Buddhist ideology. Any knowledge I have is superficial and filtered through a western culture, and that's one reason I'm on this channel. 'Going to the horses mouth'. So, you have used a couple of gems In my familiar with. The V word and the red envelope please. I'll guess: that's a big money donor? Most religions have some big money donors on board. And given religions have been bleeding members since the 90's like a sieve, (the church of England actually thought about going back under the umbrella of the Pope! That's pretty bad ), because Science has proven so much about our material reality and breaking and broken the stranglehold and slave chains of superstition, thankfully. Ajahn Brahm is a smart fellow and Buddhism isn't a 'God oriented' religion. He's also an absolute master in teaching not just the mechanics but the points of it on the individual and the community at large. He's from the West, he knows its strikes on the human condition, (the long term costs, so to speak), in men and women and children, the bone breaking alienation and isolation and clinical depression it can lead to (we lose e thousands to suicide every year and families and careers are devastated by the extremely high costs of taking care of the most fundamental aspects of human life like birth, education, illness, addiction, physically challenged adults /aging elders, housing costs), the bigotry on things like skin color/appearance/body type, gender, different religions /lack of, economic class, age, etc etc. Essentially superficial things we determine the value of men and women with. In this respect, his success isn't really surprising in where he's gone. But his real test, of he ever can manage it, will be to break into the bread and Bible belts 😁 Few can, or do. NorCal and up North? Pfffft! You can sneeze and hit *some* kind of monastery. Please pardon my bloviating and pontificating but I do sometimes like offering my observations and opinions at times. Don't say you've not been warned 😁🤣😉 I'm curious, are you specifically charged in the difference in file type streaming? I ask because I pay a flat monthly rate and can do anything I want at no additional charge. But I realize in other countries this is not available.
Jella van Berkum Because I think Brand is a jerk for one. And for two, a completely conceited, bloviating asshat making a mint off his cynical exploitation of the Millennial genes sensibilities. A group, BTW, he does not belong to. The whole 'new age Jesus' thing is, I'm shocked, in itself deeply cynical. You did ask.

Hi from NZ
How do the monks listen to ajahn brahm? Do they turn of their thoughts? Do they listen without a filter?
You should expect absolutely nothing then you have less chance to be disappointed.
no, you should expect what's right, what's reasonable to expect. As he said, otherwise you'll expect or ask for nothing and receive nothing, that would be disadvantageous and unskillful. Disappointment is a lesson in letting go.
The third monk's looking like Steve Jobs! :)

Hello, I really enjoy listening to your talks! Is there a podcast available for the talks?
Indeed, they’re on iTunes! Look for the Buddhist Society of Western Australia on there.
That's cool. If they start charging more for video the audio would be handy.

Mike Berg is ALL disappointment inherently bad though?
