You dont have to be a buddhist to listen and learn from others. Thank you for the wisdom gained. These talks have helped me understand and handle my emotions.
This series has helped me immensely to become a happier human being. I sincerely hope this helps you too ruclips.net/p/PLQn_6Hq6lh5WBWTaGRf2z2g2JzQA6_OGT
17:30 I stopped here a lot " you can't get out of it , there are different types of suffering, most people in the world all they really want to do is to exchange one form of suffering to another "
Love his talk.. I've been listening to Laung Por Cha for a long while. Happy to find Ajahn Brahm on youtube. His talk is so funny yet extremely enlighting.
These talks are absolutely fantastic in every word I listen to 2 in the morning always making time to take it all in I listen in the afternoon & about 3 or more in the evening great to go to sleep with a massive smile on my face Love these talks so very much I love listing to my teacher
I am pretty new to meditation. I first learned about Ajahn Brahm when I went to a Sunday Night Sitting at a local sangha I go to. Unbeknownst to be, he was the guest speaker that night. It was being held in a different room than usual, in this big hall that is normally a used as a Methodist church. I walk in and see him sitting in the front with several other monks. It was intimidating for me. I thought "What is this and Who is this guy? I'm giving him 10 minutes and If I don't like it I'm outta here". Well, I think within about 30 seconds of him speaking he had totally won me over.
I'm also agree with you his words of wisdom his jokes all wrapped up to make every talk great I listen to as many of these talks as I can through the day
Thank you. My boyfriend always criticize me and never praised me....he believes that it will give me a big head.... my self esteem has been damaged and I am starting to doubt myself. Know I can see...thanks
I’ve had a real tough time lately with a marriage break up. Have had some very challenging times mentally and Ajahn Brahm has been a great help to me. His words of wisdom have been invaluable in my continued recovery.
THANK YOU SO MUCH AJAHN BRAHM! You fill that hole that builds up in me from time to time. I incorporate the wonderful things you inspire us with and try to be a better person every passing minute or rather every passing second.
What if you have a boss that keeps yelling and telling you that you are useless, #1 stupid, etc.... He does the same to you in front of others and continues to put you down. Eventually, even if you are good at your work and confident, you will loose all confidence and have mental block and no longer able to think or do what you do best and becomes an introvert. We go into downward spiral and deep in depression. How do we manage when situation like this happens?
This reminds me of a couple things Ajahn Brahm has said. First, have pity on this person, because you only have to be with them during work hours, but they have to be with themselves for the rest of their life! Someone that mean on the outside is actually extremely fragile and suffering deep inside. Also I am reminded of a story Ajahn Brahm told of a prison he used to visit. The inmates loved his talks, but they had a problem. The warden of the prison was extremely harsh and rude, more than anyone else in the prison system. So they asked Ajahn Brahm what should they do. Ajahn Brahm suggested that the prisoner who's job it was to bring the warden tea and biscuits each day should do so with the utmost sincere kindness. Using the most polite language, the nicest tone of voice, and the gentlest of body language. After a couple weeks, Ajahn Brahm came back and the prisoner told him, look nothing's changed, he's just as mean as ever. But Ajahn Brahm encouraged him to keep trying. Then a few more weeks went by and on his next visit, the prisoners were in an uproar because for the first time in the history of that prison, when the prisoner brought the warden his tea, he replied with, ''thank you.'' For that man, those two words were a big deal, they were like the first crack in dam. Lastly, I've heard Ajahn Brahm speak about how monks have to be like trash bins that people throw the rubbish of their lives into, but to always remember to be a trash bin with a hole in the bottom. So when they throw their trash at you, it goes right through you and you don't hold on to it. If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend Ajahn Brahm's talk ''the four ways of letting go.'' Hope that helps. May all sentient beings be free of suffering.
Thank you Ajahn Brahm! Every time I forget something I know I should remember, I just come back to the talks, and I listen and then go on with my happy life again.
It's because of his lifestyle of a lot of traveling and giving lots of talks. And from being older and not being allowed to do the physical labor of the young monks. When they have rains retreat each year he loses weight
Thank you so much for your talks. They push up my confidence, bring up the internal peace and love and positive energy. Your teaching is the answer to my prayer.
I am so grateful for you ajahn brahm you have changed my life and I share your lessons with others today I told a friend " ITS NOT THE MOVING OF THE WHEELBARROW THATS HARD ITS THINKING ABOUT IT " she said I like that ,I'm in America were there's alot of unhappiness I say I don't let anyone ruin my happy.thankyou I'm a true disciple.
my father said to me to be an adult basically means to never complain i thought it was a joke but i guess he is right only kids complain cause its the easiest way for them to solve the problems they have cause the parents help them and solve the problems for them if they start screaming and complaining but for an adult u cant expect someone to solve your problems so all you can do is look at them and then you do something about it or because you are looking at it you realise there is no problem sometimes its just the mind making a problem out of nothing
telling people to work on relationships should always come with the fine print statement ,'assuming neither of you have narcissistic personality disorder, or is a sociopath or psychopath.' those types even Ajahn says to run from in other videos.
When I get criticized, my immediate response is not to believe it. I just say that's your opinion. And opinions are like butt holes ... everyone has got one. Now every now and then I make an assessment of something, say my forehand in tennis sucks. Instead of getting down on myself, I work on it to make it better. I keep at it until I feel good about it.
+The Scottish Traveller. The chanting is the salutation to the triple gem, referring to the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha. Here is the translation: First ProstrationAraham samma-sambuddho bhagava Buddham bhagavantam abhivademi. The Noble One, the fully Enlightened One, the Exalted One, I bow low before the Exalted Buddha.Second ProstrationSvakkhato bhagavata dhammo Dhammam namassami. The Exalted One's well-expounded Dhamma I bow low before the Dhamma.Third ProstrationSupatipanno bhagavato savakasangho sangham namami. The Exalted One's Sangha of well-practiced disciples I bow low before the Sangha.
And also I wanna say to you that see my comment right now- if YOU are suffering from deep depression- seek proffesional help because clinical depression can't scientifically be healed and cured from anything other than medicine. So get help and do Buddhism to heal on the inside. I don't want to tell you what to do but I wanna guide you because scientists proof this. Please seek professional help from psychiatrist and doctors.. heal on the inside with Buddhism ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sorry ajahn brahm but calling someone who is obviously an old lady, a 'young lady' seems very patronizing and not flattering in the least. I disagree with you wholeheartedly on that.
Iam 67 and walk with a stick yesterday i met a 90 year old lady also with stick. She was so cheery and called me a young girl and we laughed like teenagers some good comments like AB make me realise i am still so young at heart

LOL. If you are referring to Ajahm Brahms. He is putting on weight because of the delicious Asian food offered. Look onto yourself, mate.
It's because of his lifestyle of a lot of traveling and giving lots of talks. And from being older and not being allowed to do the physical labor of the young monks.
When they have rains retreat each year he loses weight
