*What’s your favorite? Fairway woods or hybrids?!*
i am going with a stealth 3HL wood ( 4w 16.5 degrees )....and a Stealth 2 HD 5 wood or 7 wood ( 19 degrees )( 22 degrees ) haven't decided on the 5 or the 7....cheers from Canada
Mizuno 5 wood
Hello from O HI O, AE! Thank you for this one especially. As far as favorite, it's too soon to differentiate. I've used a 5wd and 4h for rescue shots so I figure, if it's useful for the course I'm playing it's in the bag. I agree with you on a 3wd! My 3wd gets sympathy swings mostly. Driver, 4wd, 2-9i, 3 wedges is the setup for this season upcoming
I have a Callaway Rogue St 3 wood, Sim2 5 wood, Sim2 7 wood and recently have added a Stealth 9 wood. I keep 4 wedges and 3 woods in the bag. Which woods I put in the bad depends on the course and conditions. I have to be honest, I never thought I'd look at a 9 wood but that thing is money! If I need a 200 yard shot that's going to stop quick it's my go to.
I lean heavily on my 5-wood and hit it farther than some of my friends hit their driver. I also love my 7-wood off the deck.
I also lean heavily on my hybrids … my 5-Hybrid which I can hit high on longer par-3’s, and my 4-hybrid on shots 175-200
… all Ping G425’s 👍🏻
I’ve gone 5w, 7w & 4 hybrid. Good gapping and makes the rounds more enjoyable. It took me decades to drop 3w & 3 & 4 irons. Great decision.
just under 300 yards with the 5 wood, find that hard to believe mate... I'm normally a fan but that's not setting the right expectations in my eyes.
Why does everyone get so upset and offended when someone hits the ball far…. Chill. Get some lessons. If that don’t work. Hit the gym. If that don’t work. Chances are. You have poor flexibility. If your flexibility is fine. And still can’t. Your just not athletic enough
I have a 5 wood, 4 hybrid, and 5 hybrid. I prefer the 5 wood most of the time. But each club serves a different yardage as well
Hi as an older golfer i have a set that goes to a 6 iron then carry a 4 and 5 hybrid and then a 7 and 5 fairway wood and driver. They cover ever iron club from 5 to 2 iron but for me much easier to bit and control. I play off 12 by the way and am getting that down to below 10 quickly now.
Similar myself. Wedges, 6-9 iron, 9W, 7W, 5W, driver. These fairway woods are low profile, and work pretty darn well in the rough. If the lie is too bad, I will take an iron and punch out.
After a lot of testing went all hybrids top of the bag. 16, 19, 21. Felt the shorter shaft and flatter trajectory worked better for me.
Hybrid always out of the rough. 5 wood mostly always from the fairway unless I want to flight it down or on a hard fairway I want it to run in those instances I use my hybrid.
You have educated me to pick up a 4 hybrid along with my 5 wood...
Top of my bag is driver, 5w(18deg), Heavenwood(21.5deg), 4h(24deg). Have no problem hitting fairway woods off the deck so I use them a lot. Use the hybrid when distance dictates as well as from the rough and even around the green. Irons are 5-lob wedge.
love the heavenwood!!!
@@back9films probably my favorite club. When i can hit it 170 from a fairway bunker onto the green, it deserves to be called “heavenly”! It’s a Callaway Steelhead XR that I picked up from Callaway preowned in new condition last year. Liked it so much I got the 5w.
4 wood and 7 wood game changer for me 👍
7 wood absolutely cooks
4 wood and 7 wood as well! Ordered mini brnr and sold my driver. So im going with 2,4 and 7 wood in my bag.
I carry a 3 & 5 wood using both and I await the delivery of a 22° stealth hybrid 1st gen to slot it at the top end of my new P790's that'll be using for the 1st time in the morning 😮
3 wood is awesome of the tee for narrow fairways or if my drive would be too long. 5 wood is a fairway club for 200 yards ish.
is your 22 stealth a 4 hybrid?
I recently purchased a 5 wood and absolutely love it. It saves me so many strokes for several reasons. I find it far easier to hit, and it serves to fill in a distance gap. I've tried hybrids in the past and didn't care for them.
i use a 3 wood and 4 hybrid.. love it
I do have and use a 3w. Need it for my gapping. I used to have a 7w in the bag w/ standard 20.5°. And then I have a 4h w/ standard 22° loft. I have now gotten rid of the 7w, screwed down the 4h to 19.5° and thereby can keep my 4i in the bag.
So my gapping is 10.5, 14.5, 19.5 (alt. 4i 20.4), 5i 23.0. That works for me.
My 7 wood is my favorite wood. Also I carry a 4 wood
I love the Jet Sound you have playing when you hit the first ball! Cheers
I have a 22* 4 iron so this is something I've been debating. 18* 5 wood or 19* hybrid. Great video, thanks.
My hybrid goes further, 5 wood goes to high even with 75gram shaft notched down to 17 degrees. Hybrids can be flighted lower
I only use a 3 wood off the tee depending on the course I won't carry a driver. I have an old ram 7 wood that I absolutely love but I've just bought a couple of hybrids for the first time but only hit them at the range.
Using 3 Wood and 3H. Longest iron is 4, it works for me
I don't hit very far with the driver...usualy 200-220, but usually find the fairway. What I need is a reliable club that can eat up a distance on those long Par4 or two more shots on those Par5. So should I pack a 3W or 5W? (right now, I am using a 3H for these 2nd and 3rd shots on longer holes).
I have this exact same dilemma. Very similar player. I feel like on Par 5's or in scrambles I want a club that I can smack up the fairway as far as possible when desired. So after years of packing 3 and 5 hybrid only I am now considering adding one of 3 or 5 wood to the bag. Preferably one easy to hit off deck even better ;) Have you made the addition??
I use a five wood. I tried hybrids. I am perhaps am conservative, but I like the 5 wood, an old yonix ADX 200 carbon wood, better than any hybrid I tried. I also have not found a better 5 wood.
I’ve got the one length cobra f9. Absolutely love it. It’s got me out of many a tricky situation in the rough 👍
My 3 wood is my favorite long club, but it's the first one I've ever been able to hit (rbz 3w)
I can't hit my titleist 3 wood for shit but i used my mates rbz 3w & i couldn't hit a bad shot with it.
Onyone feel free to answer this: ive only really been playing consistently (i.e. about 20 times a year plus) for about 18 months now, about a 40 handicapper
Current setup:
3 hybrid
Driver
5-9 irons
I want to add another wood to the bag and looking at either 3 wood, 5 wood or 5 hybrid
Am i right in saying a 5 wood and 3 hybrid are similar?
So i should be looking at a 3 wood for longer shots and a 5 hybrid for less distance
I.e they would go in this order:
3 wood -longest
3 hybrid
5 hybrid - shortest ?
I use a 5 wood and a 4 hybrid, usually leave driver at home as I slice it so badly, my 5 wood I usually hit 250+ and straight most the time, hybrid to get me out of bad situations and lies seems the perfect combo for me currently! Thinking of getting the mini driver by taylormade but not sure
Get a senior shaft and you never hit a slice again
@@randyposs6281 found my problem was the opposite, needed a stiffer shaft and now hit much less of a slice
Great video. I bought a three and five hybrid, and also have a five and seven wood. Well, my 5 wood and three hybrid are the same loft, but I think I’ll be more accurate off the tee with a hybrid, and use the five wood in the fairway. The 5 hybrid I’m going to set at 25°, which is in between my five and six irons, and I’m wondering if I need a 4 hybrid now…?
Like you, I took the 3-wood OUT of the bag.
According to ARCCOS, I hit my 5-wood within a couple yards of my 3-wood, but I hit more fairways and hit the 5-wood higher.
My question is…
Should I carry a 3-hybrid? I currently rock a 4- and a 5-hybrid.
Good stuff 👍🏻
I think i would stick with the 5 wood by the sounds of it
I stay away from hybrids. I like traditional yet with the newer tech how could one go wrong with modern woods. Currently running 1W9.5°, 5W 18°, 4i 23°.... Contemplating to add a 7W. Save my irons for ITR shots. Someone was using a 9W and could use it as a chipshot as well... very versatile.
Using both a Callaway maverik max 4 hybrid and the same in the 5 wood. They go a similar distance but more carry with the five. Use both depending on what’s in front of me and the lie etc.
I swapped my 3h for a 5w. I hit the 5w so well I may be able to drop my 3w. My 4i is a 20.5 degree and I have no trouble hitting flush strikes with it. I tried to like hybrids, but I had trouble controlling their direction.
I bought the stealth+ 4 rescue just to fill a gap i needed in my bag. I run:
Driver: 10.5⁰
3w: r15 set to 16.5⁰
4r: 22⁰
6h: 28⁰
Irons: 4i, 6i, 8i, 9i
Wedges: 48⁰, 52⁰, 56⁰, 60⁰
Chipper: 42⁰
Putter...
I'm not replacing my 4i or 3w, I just need a heavier club to get out of the absolute broccoli that my area likes to call "the rough rough", lol. 😂
When you can hit a 5 wood 285 carry off of the tee...it probably doesn't matter what other high end club you carry, because you probably won't be hitting it very often regardless. For us plebes...it matters a lot. I hit my DRIVER 250 on a good day...I am constantly pulling 3 wood out on par 5s to set up an approach into a green above 500 yards. I carry both 5 wood and 4 hybrid. I dumped the 60 and 56 in favor of a 58' loft for wedges.
Driver, 4 wood, 3 and 4 hybrid and next is a 5 iron. Covers the yardages I need for the home course.
I was thinking of going that route also. I just got a cheap 4H to see if how I got on, and am surprised at how well I hit it, so not sorry I stopped my irons at 5. I was thinking of just getting either a 5 or 3 wood to give me reasonable gapping, but because I like the 4H, a 3H and a 4 wood make more sense to me. Yours still the right choice do you think?
5 iron is 23 deg for me, so i rotate the '4 iron slot' between a 4 utility iron, 3 or 4 hybrid (subject to conditions) then have my 5 wood permanently in after
My bag consists of driver, 15 degree 3w, 19 hybrid, 22 hybrid, 25 hybrid, 28 hybrid, titleist 670’s blades 6-PW, 52 wedge and 56 wedge.
i ues neither at the moment. currently have a driving iron at 18 degrees of loft. So I'm not sure what to get whether that be hybrid or 5 wood as if I have say 225 into a pin I'm stuffed if I want it to stop quickly.
I need both, a 5-wood and a 4-hybrid, the lattest just in case my 4-iron feels out of form.
what one works best for you???
@@back9films The fairway wood, more versatile
Love your vids, keep them coming. Don’t like hybrids - use a 5 and 9 wood for tee shots only!
Thanks! Will do!
Tried for years to 0:26 hit a hybrid. Can get it going on range but can’t hit it on the course for the life of me!
5W is often my most consistent club.
I have driver,a clevelandXL 16 degree driver, 21 degree 7 wood ..hybrids of 25,30,35,8 iron,9 iron, pw,gap,56 sand
I don't carry a 5 wood. I use the 4 iron but I do carry a 3 hybrid. I also carry a 3 wood but only use it from the fairway or a very good lie in the rough.
I have a 5 wood, 7 wood, and a 4 hybrid.
Love the video. Just got fitted for the Aerojet 3 wood. Best club in the bag. Dilemma I want to keep the 5 wood and get rid of the 7wood. Is common to have 3 wood and 5 wood? Thanks
Thanks danny! I don't think you need to have both, i would go ahead with what you are saying!
My 4 iron is 24 deg i then have the one length 4 hybrid at 21 and a 5wood
I choose between my 3 iron, 2 iron or 2 hybrid depending the course I am at. Fairway woods go to high for me and I don't ever really need to slap a 3 wood lately soooooooooo.......... yeah
I carry a 5W but could easily add the hybrid but I don’t see the need for both. I don’t even carry 14 clubs total because most rounds I might use 10 tops.
One question: why would most amateurs carry 4 wedges? I find that I can get away with 3 - PW, GW & SW. If I need to lob something I can open my 54 and hit just shots that I can with my 58.
I carry 4 wedges because I hit the club's certain distances
Full swing
PW- 105m
50- 90m
54- 75m
58- 65m
Gripping at the bottom of the grip and having an easy swing at it
PW- 85m
50- 70m
54- 60m
58- 50m
It gives me many shots I can hit from inside 50m to 105m
I get a read on distance with the laser and then just pick my suited shot for the distance required
It has meant I am much more comfortable and effective from this distance than before
I love to smash my taylormade sim 2 max 3 wood, I find my 3 and 4 hybrid are too close in distance, so I am considering either a 5 wood or 17 degree 2 hybrid,
I do use 3 wood and hit it well when in form
I use 3w and 5w. They're ok with me. Never tried hybrids.
I use 3 wood, 5 wood & 4 hybrid.
Hybrids 3 and 5, more consistent compared to using woods even if I get more distance with woods.
This has been my approach. However I'm considering adding a distance focused fairway wood for the odd shot off the deck. Feel like can can more distance and roll from them when needed for par 5's. Will be risker and more difficult to hit but there are times you need more potential distance.
3 Hybrid is in my bag, Ping 410. No 5 wood, seems too close in performance. I’m a high handicapper, so I would rather have a 3 Wood to get my extra distance.
For some reason 5 wood (Radspeed) is easier for me, and I can’t play hybrid at all… lack of swing speed?
You got to spend more time hitting the hybrids until you utilize the advantages of it
The 5 wood has it’s good points but because of its higher lofted trajectory when hitting into the wind you lose a lot of yardage
5 hybrid then 7 wood, 3 iron and 3 wood (loft sleeve +1.5°)
I have both a 3h and a 5 wood. The 5 wood is 10 yards longer.
I use a four iron and a 3 hybrid
3 hybrid and 5 wood....just depends on wind. 5 wood launches much higher and lands softer.
This year I’m carrying both. Golf Handicap Association has changed max number of clubs from 14 to 18.
Now some comps might not allow it, but I don’t play competitive golf.
where do you play your golf scott?
@@back9films sorry for the late reply. I live in Michigan, so not much in the way of winter golf.
If you dont use or hit your 3 wood, take it out and use a 5 wood AND a hybrid.
I use a hybrid. I have a 3 wood and three hybrids.
3 hybrid and driver at the top then 4 iron
I feel like you made this channel for golf vlogs only but now your talking about clubs etc.
the position of the ball was completely different on the first and second stroke. On the second shot, I would have even taken a 3 wood. The ball was completely free
with my golf swing, hybrid is for me.
5 wood has been revelation for me.
I carry a driver,3wd,5wd,7wd,9wd
6-lw
21 degree 7 wood and 23 degree hybrid. 5-pw. 50 and56 wedge. Oh 12 degree driver
With hollow-bodied long irons, I don't see the point of hybrids anymore.
5 wood equivalent too 3 hybrid y’all and 4 wood equivalent too 2 hybrid 3 wood no hybrid is equivalent too just as 3 wood isn’t equivalent too driver . It’s just the shorter clubs are easier too control
Another thing to consider is the length of shaft creates a steeper attack angle which helps in grassy lies
Come on now the 5 wood from the rough the ball is sunk in the grass and the hybrid hit its well more popped up haha 🤔
No 3 W
I have one of each
nice!!! what brands do you use?
One length speed zone 21degree and g425 5wood
Why do you use a one length hybrid
i love it
5W + 3H +5H
Did you really carry 280 with your 5-wood 😮. I should just quit golf right now. 😢
282 yd carry 5 wood? Bull shit.
The real question is 5w or 2 iron 🙃
Look how bad the five wood does in the rough.
*massive clump of grass behind the ball.
-ok gonna mimic the lie for hybrid
*almost perfect lie in the rough😂😂 no grass behind the ball
No hybrid. 5 and 7 woods.
how do you find them??
@@back9films I found the hybrid was harder to hit straight. Shots were skinny left.
Not a chance in hell you carried that 5 wood over 280…. Cmon bud
Personally I carry 9 degree driver, 15 degree 3 metal, a 19 degree hybrid and a 22 degree hybrid next is my 5 iron. Always have. No way you get good results hitting a 3 metal from the rough but off the tee or fairway 👍. I will hit either hybrid off the tee biased on distance. That’s just me! Golf is All About personal preference feel and confidence. I personally chip and pitch with a 64degree wedge. Unheard of????
To RUclips I don't care
Enough with the "literally". Ridiculous
