It doesn't help that one of the devs called critics "talentless freaks".
Craziest part is that the dude wasn't even being a critic!
I can kind of understand someone lashing out in a dumb way after working on a game for a long time and it totally flopping. It's got to be emotionally brutal and I think just throwing out a lame insult doesn't really hurt anyone. People getting precious about this are more ridiculous than the developer saying that, in my eyes.
@@williamhornabrook8081 No, an indie dev that made a game that didn't work won't call those who didn't buy the game names. No indie dev ever did that, because they don't despise gamers unlike the ones who did Concord,

The oversaturated market, lack of marketing, and lack of unique gameplay make Concord a certain failure.
The first mistake was charging anything for a live service game

Reminder that Sony axed like 6 live service projects out of a planned 12, and this one survived. Let that sink in for a minute
There was gonna be a twisted metal live service game, it could've been good. Who knows
One of them was the last of us too,
This probably survived because it was close to release. Also Sony literally bought the studio because they saw potential... in this thing.
@@JeSuisMrCraft It couldn't have been good, because it was a live service game, designed to keep us playing and spending money on battle passes and microtransactions rather than to be an enjoyable video game.
Jim Ryan went all in on this crap and this is all the PlayStation brand has to show for it. I'm so glad he's gone.
As someone who worked in the industry, one thing that isn't talked about enough is that a lot of those players, if not most, are probably just people working at Sony who got the game for free. No really.
I was working as a QA tester for Activision when Overwatch came out. Not even Blizzard, Activision. I got the game for free (back then it wasn't free to play) just like everyone else where I worked. We didn't ask for it, Blizzard was just happy to give it to us for free to make sure there would be a solid player base at launch. Around 200 people were working in my QA department back then. And we weren't even the biggest Activision QA. And once again, that's just Activision, not even Blizzard and that's just a QA department, it doesn't include devs, office workers or anyone else.
Sony is even bigger than Activision/Blizzard. I can guarantee you, thousands of people got that game for free. They might not have all decided to play...but I would assume a lot of them did, at least for a little bit.
"Sony is even bigger than Activision/Blizzard." --- Sony Interactive Entertainment, aka Sony's video game division, is absolutely not bigger than Activision/Blizzard.

What baffles me the most is that no one said stop in the 8 years this thing was in development.
Not when the Hero Shooter genre imploded, not when the genre was forced to switch to F2P models, not when the "too big to fail" OW caught on fire.
Ignoring its god awful character design for a moment, no one said stop to having sunk so much money into it that they had to put a price tag on it, rendering it completely uncompetetive...

What's funnier is that Concord had a closed beta, that you could play if you preordered the game. That beta had 1000+ players on Steam. The fact, that around half of the people who preordered did not come back to play on launch, tells you how "good" the gameplay must be.
There were 2 betas. A paid for one that went F2P because of low player count. A second beta that was completely F2P that did worse. And now launch, that has done even worse than that second beta.

How are 12yr old roblox developers making more successful games then a billion dollar company
Because the 12 year olds are making the games they would want to play themselves. That's what games used to be, nerds making games for other nerds. Now it's corporate marketing agents using Internet engage metrics and sales figures to design games "for modern audiences." There's no passion or innovation in a game designed like that. games has always been corporate and not just nerds making games
@@johnbrighto There have been big businesses making games for a while, but the corporate overreach has gotten so much worse over the last 20 years. It's so obvious when games are being made because a business guy saw it as profitable for another game, not because a good designer thought it would be a fun game. I'm not denying that didn't happen in the past either, there were so many lazy clones of games like Doom and WoW. The problem is that these clones aren't coming from just the no name developers trying to make a quick buck, but from the giant publishers who should know better and should use their big budgets to make something new and push gaming innovation, instead of recycling tired gameplay. Instead, it's the no name inde developers who are doing the innovating because they aren't burdened by investor demands.
They have gone back to the roots of nerds making games for nerds and cut out all the corporate BS that destroys all the characteristics that make games unique and interesting. Developers should be able to make money and fund big companies, but let the gamers make the games, and keep the business executives out of the design room.

Free to try
I seriously dont get the criticism of destiny. 2. As someone who played some of the free to play part of it and then bought an expansion, it seemed fair, and it had tons of content still. The biggest criticism i have of Destiny 2 is still content vaulting.
The criticism is about destiny 2 itself but also Bungie. This once great studio fell pieces due to mismanagement and the studio destroying any good will it had left within the community overnight. The comment about the game not really being F2P is based around the fact that if you want to do anything without buying current or legacy dlc your options are very limited. For the game to call itself free to play is downright disrespectful.
Destiny 2 being called free to play is the lie that keeps on going.
@@Bubblehead64O Bungie itself obviously has a mountain of issues, but purely judging the game itself, the amount of content seems fair for what their business model is. As I said before, my biggest issue with D2 is vaulting. They shouldn't take away content, especially the story and expansion content people paid for. If the original D2 campaign, warmind, Osiris, and forsaken were still in and free, the model would be a lot more than fair.
The helldivers 2 situation showed them the writting on the wall that people dont want PSN, and they still forced it down our throats anyways.

I sometimes play an old game called GunZ. Official servers shut down like a decade ago, but the largest private server has around 200 concurrent players at any time, and numbers have peaked at over 600 when interest has been high. This is for a private server of a game from the early 2000's that officially died sometime in the 2010's. Concord, a AAA game that's fresh off the oven, has comparable numbers. Anyone saying this game is anything other than a total failure is high on copium
Love GunZ the duel. Never played it but the game alone draws my attention. Another example I have is an old Disney MMO called Toontown. Usually Toontown rewritten has around 1k-2k players in it. Again an example of a private server dominating in terms of player numbers in comparison to a AAA game.

That 100m figure comes from doing math. They said they developed the game for 8 years, their studio is in Washington, Bellevue. Glassdoor puts the average Game Dev salary at 100k a year. Firewalk Studios had at least 100 employees for the past 5 years, steadily rising. For the past two they had 150+ (I have seen they had 170 last year). Add operating costs for the building and I can see the studio costing 10m+ bucks per year, at least for the past 4-5 years. Was prolly half that for the first 3 years. Then add marketing costs on top of that.

@@slyguythreeonetwonine3172 the worst part of buying a Pixel.
And on PSN. This was in 'Your Games' when I signed in. I really don't know why this was recommended to me; I've never been interested in gay stuff or participated.
Don't forget: Even though Sony decided to cut six out of twelve of their live-service projects, this was one of the six. So, there are still five more in development.
I have seen a push in the f2p market to start going as generic as possible. "The Finals" is a good example; it started off as a unique parkour fps with destruction, but then they stripped down the gameplay and removed the most popular mode to force people to play a counterstrike rip-off. At the same time they spent $2.5 million in advertising to promote the new direction.
concord (was/were)
If its exposure that the game is lacking, then all this negative press should be having a Streisand effect, but the game is still sinking so I doubt its just that.
Honestly the price is probably the biggest issue imo, every other 5v5 hero shooter is free to play
It flopped even on the free to play beta test
@@Astatos-Lotasure but if it was free more people would play it just to see how bad it is, or to joke around about its sh*tiness, that might have boosted its numbers to maybe over 1000 at peak.
I’ve been watching this man for a long time I still hear “Hello guy and gals, Mia Mutahar” every time
I eagerly anticipate Matt’s “What Happened” video on this game
But the game has PRONOUNS how can it fail, impossible.
Do you not have pronouns?
@@fluffly8935My primary language nope, English just suck
@fluffly8935 pronouns are for other people to assign to you and refer to you as based on sex characteristics. They're not Pokémon cards or pins for you to collect. That's why actual trans people change their bodies because they don't want to be referred to as one of the TWO sexes. They don't demand you call them one out of millions of ficticious pronouns
@@HouseOfWandacool, so you have pronouns like everyone else right
@@fluffly8935 Everyone has pronouns bro, nobody is saying they don't exist. The devs are shoving it in players faces like twitter freaks, we both know that's what he means.
For every major hit (Black Myth Wukong), there lies a massive flop. Such is the law of Equivalent Exchange.
Valorant can be fun? 5:40
Tbh I want to get a ps5 for console valorant. For what I have seen and heard from a friend. Its a lot easier. More chill 😂
yeah the game is easier in general than for example cs2 but in general riot games community is not chill. They will literally scream at you for no reason. At least its better than listening to russian players all day long but for me having text chat and specially voice chat off is a must to even play a match
To be honest if this game really dont have crossplay with PC players then the major flaw for this game for me is gone and i think i could try it again lol
It cost a billion dollars to remove a ship wreck from the coast of Italy (Costa Concordia). When I heard that story it blew my mind. It is hilarious Concord is not only close to sounding like "Concordia", but if you put the entire situation into context, I cannot tell which situation would be more financially devastating considering cruise ship losses like that are not common and they print money.
It looks like boring garbage. They tried to mash together other games that were popular, sprinkle in "heroes" that just seem like "we got them at home/bought on Wish", and made everything super unappealing. It was a cashgrab that they wanted brownie points for and people called them out on it.
This game is a bigger failure than my life.
When I heard failure I thought you were talking about me
Whenever you think you're a failure, just remember, a successful multibillion company managed to publish an absolute turd.
Edit: My bad, multibillion with a B, not M*
Not worth mentioning.. 😜
The person who gave a 9.5 score on steam was probably a kotaku or IGN journalist
MAG was too ahead of its time, remember playing it on the PS3
This video was so good I had to watch the end twice to feel the warmth in my heart again
I really ugly in real life so I don’t want to like ugly in game too
