Also why you have to keep that tank count low. You have to always be harassing the tanks so they don't build up into that critical mass of splashy death. You have to also be constantly expanding. If the Terran is building tanks, he's building units that are extremely cost effective, but *slow*. He isn't rapidly expanding to take new bases the way you can. You can afford to take twice the cost in losses if you have twice as many bases. You gotta use your spells, too. Plague, dark swarm. In short, you have to be a very proactive player to beat a Terran who is dedicated to his tanks.
@@JJ-qo7th Hmmm, interesting. I don’t play SC, but it seems correct. It seems like all blizzard games have terrible balance, lol. Even SCBW, which was considered super balanced among masses.
@@ОлегШатуев-ч2ж Quite the opposite. They're balanced, just lopsided. Zerg hatcheries can produce any kind of unit, but the other races have to build specific buildings. That production is the same used to feed the economy, so building army cuts even harder into your drone production, but Zerg can also rebound a lot faster thanks to larvae building up automatically. Zerg units are worse, but Zerg can expand much faster. As a bonus, if you kill a Zerg base, you still have to wait for that creep goo to disappear before you can build there. Zerg armies can eventually teleport between bases. It's all balanced, but it's balanced like a novelty engineering toy. It looks wrong, but it works.
Giving the Hydralisks greater attack range only means that they will stay further away and in range of the siege tanks’ siege guns, rather than closing in and forcing a close-range fight.
Okay, can someone explain to me what the 0-0 / 3-3 numbers mean? I haven't been able to figure it out at all. What on earth changed between those first two fights that affected the outcome so drastically?
Those numbers stand for upgrade on weapon and armor. 0-0 means no weapon and armor upgrade and 3-3 means both are fully upgraded. In the first round, one shot from hydra takes a tank 10-1 hp, while one shot from tank takes hydra 30*0.75=22.5 hp; while in the second round, one shot from hydra still takes the same amount of hp of tank(13-4) but a tank shot to hydra takes (30+9-3)*0.75 =27 hp. That's the difference.
@@BaiYu1983 Okay, I was confused because he would also mention 'no upgrades' and I consider those upgrades, so I guess he was referring to movement/attack speed upgrades only. Thanks.
@@Pulmonox Yes. I''d liket to add that hydra has 80 hp, so it takes no upgrade tank 4 shots (22.5hp/shot) to kill a (0 armer) hydra but only 3 shots from a +3 hots tank (27hp/hit) to kill a +3 armor hydra. Noting that hydra regenerate 1hp no sooner than they take the first shot, things could be changed dramatically if hydra had 81 hp (in that case it also took a +3 tank 4 shots to kill a hydra) .
It's in the name "Retro Battles". I'm taking these older games and having units battle each other, so I need the classic graphics. I'm eventually going to be doing other games. I'm starting with BW and WC3 because I'm most familiar with them, both in esports and modding. I try to simulate what goes on in a real match if I can, but that's not my priority.
It's innovating the use of the positioning factor, keep doing this kind of stuff!
Thanks!
That fully upgraded 2nd round of tank fire was VICIOUS. Absolute carnage.
wrrr
The boom of siege tanks sound really satisfying.
wrgg
Great sound design.
I've playing this masterpiece since 1998, glad to find your channel, as well Doom that I've been playing since 1993. Very good content, thanks.
So in short, tanks are vert cost effective, and that’s why the opponent who doesn’t have them tries to disrupt their production first.
they are terrible at stopping air units!
@@greenwave819 Which is where the Catapult C4... oops, wrong game... Goliath comes in. Tank/Goliath/Vessel is a broken combo.

These guys are the CALVARY when it comes to Hydralisks
Hydralisks, being medium sized units, take 75% damage from the Arclite Cannon's explosive damage, right?
Based on the videos I've seen with tanks, they seem to be the units that benefit the most from upgrades.
Siege Tank: move it
Hydralisk: haaaa yaarrghh
That is why terran mech is so efficient late game, those upgrades really make them hard to deal with.
Terran mech gets absolutely hard countered by Queens.
@@BreakTheIce222 In theory, yes, but i don't see to many players using queens for that.

Kinda wanted to see hydra range without siege, but I get it 🤣

The Terrans were screwed over with their damage types, especially Concussive damage.
tanks rolling right up to point blank range...
God i love siege tanks
Siege Tanks lost and have no love for Hydralisks because they can't have a crush on them.
