No cosplay video today but something else that is really important to me.
Corgis are amazing dogs, but you should consider a lot of things before you even think about getting a dog! So many poor animals end up in shelters because people have different expectations and don't know how to handle them. You don't just buy a cute, cuddly puppy, but also a 15 year commitment and responsibly for a living being. So I hope my video helps you to make a good and well educated decision! Let me know if you have any questions, I'm happy to help!

Thanks for watching. Back to cosplay now. :)

No need for a new dog.
Just came to see cute dogs
They bark for any reason, including another dog barking. So you get these barking feedback loops where none of the dogs know why they started barking.
Barkception!
Humans do that too!
Essero Eson „Quit it Gary, you’re going to start a Howl!“
Have corgi, I don't agree.
I often get this feedback loop from my Stuffle (Half Staff, half Jack Russell. She looks like a giant Jack but with a deep bark) and the rat on a rope (Terrier) who lives behind me. One will start and then they have have a competition to see who can out bark the other.
basically dogs are like children! its time money to take care of them!
I mean that's every other animal you're gonna take in as a pet
@@notayoutubechannel9275 yup! Your right! My cat is my baby! The good thing about cats and dogs that they rarely get sick if you do things correctly! I have to take my cat to the vet soon because I notice he digging at his ears but I could be assuming something wrong. But cant be too careful
Thats what I always say about my cats... they are like children and need to be taken care of...still there are so many people who are not willing to understand why I don't wanna stay away from home for so long and leaving the cats alone.. young kids wouldn't like that either. ~_~
@@aikaternie your right! If i am at a convention for too long my mom watches my cat but I call to check and I usually want to leave the last day because I miss my baby!
@@aikaternie the only difference between a cat vs a child and a dog vs child they cant tell you somthings wrong, you have to rely on sound and behavior and Gestures. A child after Infancy can necessarily if you ask what is wrong will tell you! Granted baby sounds when they sick are easier to figure out then a dog or a cat.
There was a time I had $1,400 in my bank and my corgi’s emergency vet bill was $1,200.
I said yes immediately.
He lived 14 years and 2 months.
He taught me what love is.
Thick and thin, you stick to your guns.
Isn't insurance meant for those cases - health and surgery? :)
NUWAMEI ! There is health insurance for animals but they work on a reimbursement basis
I actually watched this video with my corgi! I had wanted a corgi for several years but then I got cancer and couldn't get one because I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up with one while going through treatment. My husband and I talked about it for a long time and after I was through with treatment, we got our baby Sora! At first I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to give him the best life because of my energy level and recovery, but he's been such a good motivator to actually get up and move and exercise more. He's such a high energy pupper and he really keeps me happy and laughing and moving because he loves to run around outside and play with his ball and play fetch. I wasn't prepared for how much fur was going to show up around our house but we just call it corgi glitter and accept it! But corgis really are a huge commitment and this definitely wasn't a decision we made on the fly, so I absolutely agree that doing research and really considering what kind of dog is best for you and your lifestyle is a good idea!
Corgi glitter is so cute I love that.
I'm so glad you beat the cancer AND that y'all became Corgi parents
“THEY BECOME THESE GIANT HAM SAUSAGES.”
🤣 so funny!
Corgis are barky, they shed like mad, are quirky and sweet and loving... And they like to be the boss and herd everything ( kids, other pets) and I swear they try to talk
And sing! They are Welsh, after all.
Yep smart and bossy but they are the sweetest dogs in the world they require attention constantly they aren't couch potatoes

Itz_the water girl cats don’t like me😂🥺😭 they always bite me lol
@@b_y_e_ My mother had a cat who died who died at eighteen.
Cats are a lot of work too. Just don't get a pet unless you have money and several hours from each day
@V .Kuijten If your cat cant go outside, they need a lot of attention and you have to "build" your apartment just for them. I had 2 cats and they stayed inside for almost 1 year, but when they could go outside it was much easier to handle them because they only wanted to go outside early in the morning and come in in the evening and getting some food and love. Despite that, food and medical bills still cost quite a lot.
I want a cat, but cant get one now. No money or house. Plus im alergic to them. But that not gonna hinder me to get one in the future. It have been my dream for years.
I put off getting a pet for years because of the cost and not being home during the day. I was over 30 before I was sure I could swing the cost and that I was over my cat allergy. Almost 20 years ago my first cat decided to eat the tinsel garland off the back of grandma's Christmas tree. I was lucky he barfed it up before it hit his intestines. If he hadn't, I would have a vet bill of about $1500 or a dead cat and that's a quote from the vet. Pet needs to go the emergency pet clinic in my neck of the woods you better have at least $500 to pay upfront before they will even look at it.
@@fragmina729 My mom is also very allergic to cats. However, she only reacts to certain cats. There are more allergy friendly cats such as Rex cats. My mom barely reacted to my dad's Maine Coon cat as well. Allergies are a little complex. My mom did the following to determine what animal she is allergic to. It might help you as well. Ask the shelter or breeder to cut some hair off for you. Keep the hair in a textile bag close to your pillow. That way you can test if you get a reaction.
@@liznar_ no cat cant go out side. That why so many cats die every die just Because alot people buy cats are just lazy
Wow both of your Corgis are so well trained that is quite mind blowing, avoid stepping on to the material laying on floor/ soooo avoid eating the food right in front of her/stay still while butt hair trimming etc., I can totally see how much time you guys have spent with their training, and I want to thank you for being such responsible pet owner! lol
i've had 3 corgis and oh my god they're a handful. I love them so much but everything she says is true. and you will never be free of the hair... ever...
Also don't let them get overweight or else they're back can go out.
Grace Becker true that
Yes! And they can EASILY get fat, too.
Kodi Hays that's only if you over feed or give them people food
@@nickniehaus1763 i only give him human food and hes super slim and healtly
God Zilla that’s so bad for your dog
My family has a corgi, and we always say that he sheds twice a year, and each shedding lasts about 6 months lol. So much fur... The video is spot on with all the tips!
That's pretty accurate lol
Mine shades every day. You can see the fur coming out.
@tree house that’s kinda the point lmao (r/whoosh)
Hair everywhere you look. I’m vacuuming the floors and lint rolling ALL the time. I brush against him and hair everywhere! Doesn’t matter if I brush him everyday still hair coming off in handfuls!
I love that you did this. I have a corgi, but it took me forever to actually research them and understand what I was getting into. I also worked at a doggie daycare so I knew the temperament already and still did a ton of research. Thank you for advocating shelters, responsible breeders and understanding what you are taking on. It's a life not a toy.
As a long time corgi owner of multiple corgwn, I endorse this PSA. You nailed it.
The growing trend of corgwn is disturbing to me, as this means there will be a drop in the quality of breeding and many more of them being neglected or sent to shelters.
Thanks for addressing this to folks who watch your channel and see your wonderful pack. They may just think twice.
Yes I worry about that too they are cute but require a lot of time taking care of their needs I have a corgi plus I'm a wheelchair user he is a lot of work but I love him to death rain or shine daily walks are required💓
Thank you!! After working with our Regional Corgi Rescue and raising Corgis removed from puppy mills and abuse, adopting shelter and rescue dogs cannot be stressed enough. My last Corgi was rescued from a Midwestern puppy mill and found in a pet store when she was just 8wks old. Her severe hip dysplasia was diagnosed when she was 3 yrs old, as as result of careless irresponsible breeding practices. She had a myriad of health and allergy struggles throughout her life time. Her final 3yrs of her 13yr life span was spent having to have a wheeled cart to function as her hind legs and suffering the indignity of intractable incontinence, she hated both. I still wish unthinkable discomfort on the puppy mill breeder who caused my beloved Kate such pain and suffering.
Please rescue Corgi's, or any other pure bred dog, if you want a breed specific companion. Pedigrees and bloodlines are essential for showing in AKC shows, none is needed for a life long friend.
@@jodysheridan604 I fell in love with the breed and my corgi was a gift because my family wanted me to what it's like to be a parent I can't have children I can not afford 6-1000 dollars on a corgi I figure I'll look online until I find one to adopt corgis are cute but they are a lot of work most of my day is spent taking care of my little bit he barks if I don't pay attention to him so sleep is not something I get much of just his walks take me 3hrs of my day morning evening and night then he is in and out of the house during the day I don't work because of my health so I spend a lot of time with him 💓 he is my companion and best friend puppy mills are horrible I'm on a local corgi lovers Facebook page and people do end up rehoming them because they don't have the time to devote to their dog if you get a dog it's for life they have feelings just like we do I pray my 4 yr old corgi lives a long life
@@kassandraahuero7962
A corgi can be your best friend, companion and shoulder to cry on, their entire lives. Enjoy, embrace and have fun with your little guy, he sounds very special.
I have a Corgi.
I can describe them as having a toddler... that can run 20mph.
I lol'd at this. As a Corgi and toddler parent, YES!
@@yepimafanatic I babysat a kid recently and took my pup along. I threw a ball and the 2 year old fetched it, with full barking.
I was racking my brain deciding whether or not I should tell the parents (I have no kids) only for him to do it in front of them. Turns out Paw Patrol was to blame. lol
That is until they're spent. Then you have to cary them back.
This is such a great and important video. I love how cute corgis are and would love a dog - but I also recognize I would not be responsible enough to take care of one. I work 10 hours a day away from the house, so I'd feel just terrible leaving them alone most of the day! Plus I do come home and spend a lot of time gaming, like raiding in Final Fantasy XIV, so that's just more time I would have trouble giving them the attention they need. It's truly such a shame when people just leave their dogs outside all day or get rid of them because they're just 'tired of them', forgetting they're living creatures with feelings.
Thank you for the video! There is so much love and cuteness, it's wonderful to see.
Exactly, I actually qualified for a service dog for a couple issues I have but I realized it wouldnt be fair for me to make an animal deal with things like my living conditions, I put myself in this situation I am fine with it, but I'm not going to do that to someone else, when/i I get my shit together I may think about it again
@@ConstantChaos1 There's an organization where I live that specialize in finding shelter dogs of different breeds that can do specific tasks, like retrievals or signaling, without needing to worry about taking the weight of their handler for stability, and it's really something else to see how much they can change a life.
I'm not sure what your needs are and I'm not going to intrude by asking. I just hope you have access to the organizations that exist who will find service dogs to fit almost anyone's needs, because there are countless breeds who get abandoned that have great service potential that can't find a forever home as a pet for one reason or another. From pitbulls for mobility and/or stability to certain terriers or herding breeds for diabetic, seizure, and psychiatric alerts; there's more potential than some groups like poor people in need to know about.
If you truly can't have a service dog, I hope you have access to a fur baby for cuddles when you need it, especially for being a responsible and compassionate person. ❤
@@KatieCottingham lol, I just dont have a stable enough income and my place is too small, that's really good info tho
Don't be sorry for uploading wholesome content, cosplay or not ♡
Ok
I liked when she called them GIANT HAM SAUSAGES
"No cosplay video today but something else that is really important to me."
In fairness, Corgis are just as important and relevant to the conversation and I thank you for addressing it. ^__^
Corgi's are also useful in Cosplay measurements. For example the Gauss Rifle was two and a half Corgi's long. :D
Oh my! A consistent and comprehensive video for all those who want "the cute little fluffy corgi"! As someone who ran away from a house with four corgis, I second every single word of it. They're lovely, but it's really a hell of a commitment to make. Also, a bold choice for a first dog, and a rare example of actual success. Deep respect and thumbs up!
🇧🇷 So proud of you! This video is perfect. They are so cute, but yes! WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS! Pets are not toys!
Continue to post things like this, I love when they show up. Love you all! 💕💕💕💕
"They are so cute, but yes! WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS! Pets are not toys!" LMFAO, what a ground breaking realisation, captain obvious.
I live in Germany as well, and have been wanting a corgi for a very very long time. I found a amazing person in Poland 🇵🇱 We will have our baby corgi in the spring! This video was big help!!! Thank you!!!
such wonderful dogs! a neighbor had one that I fell in love with while pet sitting for him while he was away for several months. Pugsley was such an affectionate and smart dog, I really do miss him! RIP Pugsley.
I love chihuahuas. Those are definitely my favorite breed.
I got into them initially because they are so small and cute, but I absolutely fell in love with the breed because they are what I would call "talkers".
They communicate verbally in a huge variety of ways. Sometimes they will growl or moan or do single little yips. It's like they learn certain sounds correlate to certain things they want. I can just talk to my chihuahua and she will straight up tell me exactly what she wants, having her own sounds for food, water, chewies, dry food, if she wants to go out, or if she just wants to play. I can tell immediately what she wants by the sounds and gestures she makes and I find this infinitely convenient because my other dogs don't communicate to that degree. They mostly just bark or get excited but never really tell you what they want with that degree of specificity, the closest they get is running to the door when they want to go outside or running to the kitchen when they want food.
I love my little talkers though.
Thank you for this video. I was actually considering getting a Corgi. They're super cute but I didn't realize they were so high maintenance.
Thank you so much for publishing this video - you and Benni are definitely amazing people, including being amazing to our animal friends. I'm so glad you talked about responsible pet stewardship and adopting from shelters. Thank you for being so amazing and giving us just one more reason to love you two. My husband and I always adopt rescue kitties and are rewarded with love and the knowledge that we changed their lives for the better, for the rest of their lives.
Great video! My husband and I bought two sister puppies earlier this year - they are toy poodle cross Pomeranians. They are adorable but we have certainly made some adjustments to our lives and also how I craft and cosplay.
We named them Taffeta and Lacey. Taffeta doesn’t really shed at all but Lacey does a bit- dog hair everywhere!
Your video really made me laugh- thank you!
It wouldn't have been a KamuiCosplay video without plugging the books at least once.
Which you really should buy.
I have been a subscriber for a few years now. I love watching your corgis in the videos. This is by far one of the best videos you have uploaded. I see a lot of people in the comment section talking about your dogs. My wife is a VET and 100% agrees with everything in this video.
I knew I wasn't ready at this moment (because my life with school and work is changing a lot), to own a dog right now. However this video shed a light onto just how prepared I need to be if I want to take on that responsibility.
SolBlade_Megiddo you might could find a dog owner and take care of their dog occasionally, walks, maybe overnight if they travel. That way you can spend some time with a dog without the full responsibility.
Check to see if there's a no kill shelter in your area. A lot of them could use dog walkers.
Bless you for using your platform and knowledge that you inspire others to tell them about this!! It’s so important that people take care of pets they own or plan to own, so you giving out this solid information with true passion is so wonderful ❤️
We are on our third Corgi and everything you say is true. They are not a beginner dog, but I love their sense of humor and their spunk. If it gets too quiet, they stir something up, plus they spoil very easily.
I love how Corgis look, and I am glad you made this video. It was quite educational. Thank you!
Even if it's not about cosplay, it's still an important message. All of my babies have been rescue dogs and they are always a big part of my heart. Thank you for sharing this, Svetlana!
This video was randomly recommended to me and I'm so pleased~ your corgis are adorable and so are their names
Basically 3-4 walks, 2-3 meals, 1-2 hours play, 1-3 hours cuddling, 30 minutes training, every day. It's more surprsing that you don't think about it until you break it down. lol
Thank you for this honest video
I'm so happy you made this video! I have two corgi girls as well and this is all so true. You describe the challenges and joys of corgi parenting perfectly. I'm going to share this with friends who are interested in corgis.
Highly energetic, jumps everywhere, need exercise to calm him down, need play time, shed A LOT, bark A LOT. Yep. I always questioned why I took the corgi route but anytime I see his cute, lovable face my time and efforts seem to be worth it.
Yes they require a lot of time playing walking them they are a full time job lol but I love him so I do my duty as a pet parent they are like children
One of the best dog adoption videos ever! Yes, they poo, pee, and shed everywhere. Even routine annual vet bills can be $500. But no matter what... they will greet you at the door like you have been gone "forever", and will be your best companion.
💓 yes they are so worth it plus if it rains you have to dry them underneath I just wish they had a product that keeps their stomach dry but my boy little bit is worth it !
Good vid, I have 3 dogs, 2 white shepherd timber wolf hybrids and 1 corgi husky mix. They have so much energy I'm glad we live on a small farm in the country.
I'm always learning something new with my rabbits. They need just as much care as a dog or cat! I love that you named your Corgis after video game characters x3 My bunnies are names Vergil and Dante
THANK YOU!!!!! Responsible pet parenting is what every youtuber who has a pet on camera should be talking about! Especially animals that require more work and possibly more expenses in the long run due to common medical concerns. Pets are like babies who get less advocacy and can never fully vocalize a problem or pain or worry no matter how old they grow.
I deeply lik forward to the day that I can reach to a point where I can have a furry baby of my own, but until then, I'm super grateful for those who are better off that share the bits of life with a dog, or cat, or both.
YOU ARE A GREAT DOG MOM
I'm glad you put hours on your estimated minimum time to spend daily to care for corgi. Most folks just say "a lot" or they shed "a lot". Most people don't understand just how much of a commitment to every day this is. For us 1 hour morning time 1 hour evening time and a good 1+ hour of combined play breaks and then day long activities each weekend to socialize. That does NOT include the time to clean daily to not breathe and eat fur because they never ever stop shedding. They are worth all the effort but you have to understand how much effort that is up front.
I'm so happy that you mention this topic! Getting dog is a very important decision that you should always think through before hand.
I've been wanting a dog for years now, but I couldn't get one yet, because of all the points you mentioned. But next year I'll start a new job and get a new apartment and if everything fits, I will check out the shelters to find a dog who will forever be part of my life
The last sentence of this video was perfect! I am convinced to do just that.
Chihuahua x 4 owner here 💜 😂You are so right! Not enough people think of the commitment. Your dogs are darling 💜 it’s such a shame you couldn’t get a shelter dog but great you tried! 💜 I’m sure with your love, patience and attitude ANY dog would respond to you and be just like the darlings you have today. 💜
I've had a corgi for the past 11 years and many of these things are incredibly important
Oh my gosh thank you so much for posting this you are such a responsible pet owner!! A lot of this info applies for golden retrievers (I have one), and it’s really important to think about before deciding to get any dog! I’m planning on buying her books soon, buy her books! :]
I have always wanted a corgi, I have a 2 month corgi and she’s my child I loved this breed, their personality, how hyper active they are 💕 I love how she randomly has to run all around the house. When she is fully vaccinated I can’t wait to walk her and have her meet another dogs.
Well said and thank you for encouraging the support of shelter dogs. Our last 3 dogs have all been rescue dogs and are the most gentle and loving animals.
Thank you for making this! I constantly get comments from people about how Bailey is so cute and they want a corgi of their own and it makes me crazy how little understanding there is of the commitment involved. Not to mention how that casual mindset encourages puppy mills.
Thank you for this video. I've seen so many people just get a dog on an impulse and they do not have the time or want to even put the effort in to take care of them.
i really liked this video! the moments you got serious and conversational with us felt really important and informative, i appreciate it
i love so much that you made this video!! this is such an important topic and its so good of you to speak about this.
My adorable Corgi Pekingese mix has been with me for about 8 months now. It seems he had been abused by a man/men and was very anxious, barking at every sound. We've been working hard on those 2 behaviors, his barking's down by about 60% and he even lets some men pet him! So, a 7 year old rescue with no commands can learn with patience and consistency. I did have a previous dog for 14 years and learned to train him, so that was a huge help with my Corginese. This video is perfect for anyone's considering any dog because dogs aren't an accessory, rather like a child who never takes care of themselves. It's so rewarding in the end though. Happy family.
I got one from my great friend who is a registered breeder, who does a lot of things before you adopt, like genetic testing for diseases and problems, and the first set of shots. He's a great dog. Beautiful dog. He's a year old, and still learning, but he is coming along.
most of this was common sense, for all dogs in general, not just the corgi.
Yes Agree
If you cannot explain it, there is not much sense at all.
This is so important, thank you. As someone who worked with dogs in the shelter I really appreciate you sharing this information with your influence and reach. Thank you! Ps. I’ve followed you for ages and you are amazing
I had wanted a corgi FOREVER, and finally got one after I moved out. She turned 7 today and has been one of the highlights of my life. She's named Tali after Mass Effect.
She's certainly been a handful but everyone loves her (Even my craft store ladies love seeing her walking around)
Super video! I have been blessed to own three corgis in my life and your info was spot-on.
Thank you so much for this video! I love critters too and it hurts my heart to see so many in shelters. My spouse and I volunteer when we can and frequently get followed home by strays or the neighborhood pets. Some years ago we housed a corgi who had been rescued from a puppy mil when he was very young. He'd had some trauma and behavioral issues but after a bit of love, time, and patience he really turned around! One time he tried rolling around in a duck carcass so I laughed when you mentioned the face-flopping in stinky things. It's very true! Thank you for this video again, I think some folks don't realize how much time/effort/funds are needed for critters, so I feel you've done a great service by being honest about it. :)
I have never seen her videos or heard of her but all of a sudden I get my corgi today and she pops up in my recommended
All dogs require a lot of your attention and cost a lot more then you would first think. Smaller dogs like Corgis and terriers have a lot of energy and live a long time. But, coming home to your best friend every day and just how stoked they are to see you make all the effort worth it!
Thank you for being a responsible corgi owner and sharing all the reasons why corgis aren't an easy dog to own! I got lucky my little Asuka is great, and we got her from a good breeder, but it took a lot of work. Now, I volunteer with a corgi rescue to give time back to these good dogs that others weren't able to handle. (Also if you have any free time around Blizzcon, we're in Los Angeles if you would like to visit!)
Great video and always happy to see Zelda and Midna helping with your work :)
I am very glade you talk about the training and what it means to be a dog owner, the bills, the work and all the other things involved in raising an animal. :)
Love this video! I think this includes a lot of things people don’t think about when they get a dog. They’re such cuties!
The dogs sleep symmetrically... laught 🤣
the last few sentenses were the most important part of the video, finding a dog with the temperament, size and energy level that fits your lifestyle is the most crucial part, there are so many husky owners that wanna have a husky for how they look but just are not ready to get a such a specialized working dog.
my BF and i were looking into getting a corgi aswell and after a lot of research we settled on a sighthound breed because their energy level is much closer to what we were looking for
it really doesnt matter if someone wants the cute instagram-breed like a corgi, shiba or someyed when they ignore the care that goes into them
thank you so much for this important PSA!
Dogs are good presents for kids so they learn how to raise a living thing at a younger age and so they aren't on their devices as much as well as relieving stress and anxiety and much more and to just have more fun.
Came here for the corgies but felt in love with the girl 🥰😍💘 your accent and energy are super awesome!!!
I feel her so much since I have a lot of dogs, I'm really triggered to non committed people to their pets, what she is telling is very true . Nice video 😍
Thank you for a great video.
Dogs of any breed are a big responsibility.
I was lucky enough to adopt my Pembroke Corgi (Ajax) from a shelter. He was out of the box perfect with great manners and knew a lot of commands. Surprisingly, our special little guy was not very barky. We got lucky.
I would also caution that folks interested in adding a corgi to their family should definitely seek a responsible breeder who tests for certain corgi-related issues. Our adopted corgi eventually developed degenerative myelopathy and gradually lost the ability to use his back legs and eventually his front legs. We loved and supported him for as long as his quality of life was good while in this condition. We acquired a doggy wheelchair for him and did our best to keep him well. Once his quality of life took a major downturn, we had to do him the kindness of peacefully having him put down.
Thank you so much for being so authentic on your suggestions and tips!
We have two corgis too, one named Zelda as well! She’s a tricolor, while the other, Winnie, is a red and white like yours. The dog we had before was half German Shepherd, so we were ready for the commitment/personality of a big, working breed in a tinier package! They’re both such quirky little dogs, I’ve always said that I wouldn’t be surprised if Zelda just started speaking to me one day. Always has this look like she knows what I’m saying when I talk to her, cracks me up.
I don't need a corgi. I just watch your videos an enjoy yours :-) It's free and I don't have to wake up early!!
Great video!!
I'm happy that you mentioned that even if you don't adopt from a shelter, then at least get your pet from a registered, respectable breeder.
We got my former dog (She died almost a year ago, got to be 15½ years old) from a family friend. They weren't breeders per say, in their dog's 21 year life time they had puppies on her 3 times and always with the same partner. The outcome was these adorable little cairn terrier mixes (don't remember the breed of the mom) and they always made sure to keep in contact with whoever got one of their puppies, so they knew they were safe.
The thing is, every time I talk about it here on youtube, I've had people borderline harass me just because I was telling a positive story about getting a dog that didn't come from a shelter... (Because I had SO much to say in how we got her when I was 6 =_= )
It's actually not easy to get a shelter dog in my country. Not that the process is difficult, but we just don't have many dogs in the shelters! (There are plenty of cats though!)
As of writing this comment there is a total of 9(!) dogs in ALL registered shelters in my entire country (And you can't run an unregistered shelter here, at that point you're just a pet shop)! And even then, the dogs there often have very specific needs so you can't just go and expect to find a dog for everybody.
So yeah, obviously always check the shelters for your new pet. But if you will have to go to a breeder, go to someone registered and respectable. Visit them, take a look at their other dogs conditions. If they refuse to let you visit and insist on just handing over a puppy on a parking lot or the like, then say no! (You'd be surprised by how many people don't realize that that's shady af) A good breeder will also know their puppies very well so they can often match you with a dog that match your lifestyle pretty well. ^^
This was way longer than I intended it to be, but it had to be said xD
All dogs deserve a loving home no matter where they are from. At least you got your pups from people you trust that seemed to care about their dogs. In the end all that matters is that they found a responsible family that is going to love and care for them.
These are all super helpful things to know before getting a pet! Thanks for a great video. ☺️
We're getting a male Pembroke Welsh Corgi in a few months!
We went to meet the breeder, the parent dogs (mamma is pregnant and due in a few weeks!), the location and we are beyond excited!
Our last dog was a Dachshund and he lived until 17.
Cannot wait to get our boy home!!!
My first Jack Russell, Scruff (he was a Rough Coat and was in a pretty poor way when I found him, he'd only been in the centre for a few days, so they hadn't had a proper chance to give him a good bath, so they named him and he responded to it so I kept the name for him) was from a rescue centre, he was around 8yrs old when he came to live with me back in March 2001, a lady from the centre called a couple of weeks later and couldn't get over how quickly he had bonded with me,, he was fantastic and saved me from leaving this earth, sadly he had to goto sleep in October 2008...
I went back to the same rescue centre in February 2009 and found Dixon another Jack Russell, he has also saved me from leaving, both he and Scruff seem to know when I was having a bad time and just looked after me...
Dogs are awesome... 😊
You get a lot of love from every dog, you give a home!
Thank you explaining what a commitment corgis (and others dogs & pets) are.
Great & Caring video ❤️🐶❤️
Thanks for making & sharing a message on responsible pet/fur-kid ownership 💗
Time is exactly the reason we decided ages ago not getting any animals. We’d love a pet/ dog, but perhaps when we retire we are home enough to care for one properly :) very sensible video!
I'm definitely a cat person, just too much of an introvert for dog ownership...but I will always harbor a soft spot for Corgis. From their floofiness, to their big ears, to those absurd little legs... They're too adorable!
Love this. I have two (and work part-time from home). I also think your personality kind of matches my younger pup's personality. Go go go!
I wish everyone would think about all these things before getting a dog. Sadly, most people get dogs because it’s “the thing to do,” because they are a fashion statement, or just because they feel lonely. There are so many dogs in neighborhoods here in the US, but you will hardly ever see people walking them. Then there are the indoor dogs that only see the outside when they go do their business. Good dog owners are not as common as people may think
thanks for your honest opinion of the breed. We are getting two in a few days and you more or less confirmed they will be a good fit for us. It took us over a year of research to decide that a corgi would be the breed of dog we would go for after having two australian shepards.
I was disappointed that when we finally decided to contact breeders that we were told because of lock downs, people were inquiring about puppies at ten times the normal rate. It sort of made me sad because they were probably making impulse decisions without considering these factors. Pets are family, not accessories.
I had my first dog from 2001-15. Kuini was a Shar-pei/Lab mix. She was a stray that chased my landlord's daughter home one day, and told me "I'm your dog", no kidding. She was a good friend, about a half year old when she showed up. She was nice to most other animals and all people. I miss her. I like the look of Corgis, but I have met a lot of nice Pit Bull dogs. I briefly I inherited a mini Dachshund named Daisy. She was nice to Kuini, and had a great quizzical expression on her face. The vet's receptionist adopted her from me. An Australian comic of the 1980s, Footrot Flats had a corgi character, Prince Charles, a bit of a toff vis a vis the Australian shepherd main characters. Someone had a book in the 80s when I was a kid Cali. side.
This is such a great video, and full of very important info. Corgis really do require a lot of effort and love, and it's important to know that. They're absolutely adorable with their perfect stumpy legs and fluffy butts, but some might want to stick to admiring from a distance than making the mistake of adopting one and finding out they take more than you're able to give.
Our boy doesnt shed even a fraction of that amount and is so quiet and a good boy. He eats and drinks as much as me in a plate! We give him whatever he wants including chicken every day beef/ pork from our portion whenever he asks and fruits/ vegetables as well.
You are just amazing, in France, we'll never have this warning. Thank you to share a real passion. I have 1 snake, 2 betta fishes, 3 treefrogs and 1 cat, and I'm just totally agree with you about animal caring. unfortunatly, in France, we are again in the mentality : "Oh gosh, it's so cuuute buy one of them for our child" and many weeks later, you find the poor beast at APS (Animal protective society). In France we are sadly the first country whose abandonned the most animals :( so thank you to share and spread this mentality. It's very responsable for me and the community
Such a great video Kamui, gave me lots to think about, and your puppies are so cute
I rescued a Corgi. She has a few issues but I love her very much.
I hope their doing good :)
We've had Louis for 9 months...he's been THE BEST DOG I'VE EVER HAD..... buuuuuut he's been the most work I've ever put into a pet.... I get up every single day at 445am and we walk from 5am to 630am..every day... We also take another walk from 530pm to 630pm...every day....
He's was a lot of work to train, but he's brilliant and the time spent with him has been so worth it. He's become my little shadow, yet he adores the rest of the family too.
His personality is adorable and I'd swear he has a sense of humor....
Thanks for sharing this sometimes people do not realize how much of a responsibility any pet can be.
Thank you for making this video!! It's terrifying to me that so many people don't consider how much work it is to properly care for a dog, especially working breeds like Corgis. I love dogs so much, but I'm more than content with my sweet and low-maintenence kitty!
